Stayed at Thompson DC for a few days to take in ball games. Great location with stadium a few minutes walk away. Bonus was proximity of hotel to Navy Yard metro, which let you get to DC sites quickly and with reasonable costs. The hotel itself is more boutique than institutional, which worked for us. Nice rooftop bar with personable staff and decent food. Room was as expected, clean and comfy. Would stay here again, especially if I was attending an event at National Park.

Came here for the Labor Day weekend and checked into a sad, dark and lightly cleaned room that didn’t even have a desk or seating beside the bed. I checked out early as I didn’t want to stay in this room for an entire weekend and the front desk didn’t say a word and took the key without any inquiry. I had to call the next day and ask for a folio and ensure they even knew I checked out early - which they had no idea I even left early because the person at the front desk barely looked up. I’ve stayed at Thompson for the last 4 years during holiday breaks but I’m done after this trip. Good is that there are plenty of restaurants and it’s close to the ballpark but I do hope they do better in terms of service and cleanliness for the future guests.

Beautiful hotel with elegant furnishing. Staff was polite but not helpful. Often would tell us to solve our own issue online, as if we hadn’t spent a fortune already to stay there and get service. Rooftop is really nice. The room, junior suite, was beautiful and had a great view. Not as big as we expected. Bathroom was too dark.

Thompson was really a surprise. Very nicely thought out. Room was magnificent. It's a shame the river views aren't more expansive, but blame the other building for that. Wonderfully located a nice walk away from Nationals' Ball Park. Elegant detailing everywhere, including the elevators. In the middle of a fast growing lively government, business, residential neighborhood. Close to Metro. For a splurge, this is a wonderful place.

We were disappointed that we couldn't ever get a coffee in the hotel lobby - there was a bar but it didn't serve coffee. We've never come across a hotel anywhere else which didn't do so, and would have liked to make use of the lobby with its comfortable chairs and pleasant ambience, but had to go down the street to Starbucks instead.
