Element West des Moines

I was soooo impressed with this hotel. Only stayed overnight but it was clean, modern, and gorgeous Comfortable bed and pillows. Reasonably priced. Nice choice of snacks to purchase. Delicious free breakfast with chef making omelets. Lots of variety for breakfast.

At first i really liked this hotel. I liked all the features the room offered like a full kitchen, a comfortable bed, a great couch, awesome TV but after a whikr sitting in here, all I can hear is the noisy bathroom fan that you can't turn off! So annoying.!! The walls are ed paper thin. I can hear everything that my neighbor is doing in the room next to me, and the WiFi signal is weak! Won't be staying here agsin!!

The hotel looks really new, and the room had that new room smell. It has a king bed. End tables and wall lamps on both sides of the bed. A computer desk with desk lamp and desk chair. An easy chair with matching stool A little round side table. A closet that has a chest of drawers with 3 drawers, an iron and an ironing board. It also has a safe. There is a small, and I mean small kitchen area with a sink, microwave, coffee pot. It has a sink and some dishes. It also has a roll of paper towels and a small fridge. There is no stand or any place for luggage. You just have to keep them on the floor. The bathroom has a shower, no tub. It has phamacopia toiletries. There is a face wash and body lotion on the sink and attached to the wall in the shower is a body wash and a combo shampoo/conditioner. The water tastes like it was over chlorinated. Almost undrinkable. The sink is really big, but the vanity is pretty small. The pool was nice and it is a salt water pool. They really overemphasize being a "green" hotel. Sometimes it was a bit noisy, only because people let their kids run up and down the hall screaming. At one point in the morning there was a kid who was whining for about 5 minutes straight. How can people be so rude. Keep track of your kids and teach them how to behave. Breakfast. They had the food in these fancy containers with wooden covers, but it was the same food you see at any hotel with free breakfast. Pretty pretentious in my mind. They had cereal, oatmeal with toppings, scrambled eggs, turkey sausages. Boiled eggs, blueberry muffins, and juice. There was a person making the pancakes. They had a yogurt bar with fruit, but nothing had covers and it did not look very appetizing. Lots of kids were there for a sporting event and who know how many of those fingers touched the fruit. I passed on the yogurt bar.

The hotel is clean, bright, and has great service. And given it’s in West Des Moines, I did not anticipate it would be a party hub. But if you’re hoping to get a good nights sleep— or even any sleep- this is NOT the hotel to do it. There is a rooftop club next to it called Wellmans— and it blasted dance music until 2am. I understand It’s not the hotels fault, but the location is horrible if you would like to sleep. If you have to stay here, ask for a room on the opposite side of the hotel. Or stay here on a Tuesday… in the winter…

We used Marriott points to book this hotel and were pleasantly surprised at how new and nice it was. We had a king suite and had a full size fridge and stove top. There were real dishes in the cupboard. They offered a happy hour in the evening and breakfast in the morning. The hotel was quiet! No slamming doors as you often get in hotels. The linens were plentiful and comfortable. I almost wished we could stay longer.

We had a nice evening here and we were lucky to even get a room that night. We had a small suite with a kitchen and living room area. Super clean and bright. Comfy bed and pillows. We loved the work out area. Breakfast looked amazing, but we needed to leave so did not indulge. Super modern and very clean. Highly recommend!

The front desk staff was rather indifferent and standoffish Also breakfast was extremely disappointing. Quality and quantity available at busy times and staff no concerned or willing to accommodate ☹️

Room was spacious and well-designed and supplied. The stovetop and pans for cooking (complete with dishwasher) was surprising, and useful for us for avoiding processed food at restaurants, getting steaks to cook from nearby Trader Joe's instead. Breakfast offered good choices, though the hot food wasn't hot and no microwave was available as remedy.

Hotel was nice, but needed some upkeep, the elevator floors had cracks and the walls just looked rough. The room was kind of small compared to other hotel suites, but it had everything we needed. We faced south across from a bar that was very loud and kept us up until it closed down. The music was loud and people were screaming outside until 2 AM. I wish this would have been mentioned to us considering we had a two year old with us. The breakfast wasn’t very good either. Overall, I don’t think I’d stay here again.
