Hedley House Hotel & Apartments

Very clean studio apartment with loads of hot water and very friendly hosts. Didn't try the jacuzzi. Our studio was in the basement so no view but only 10 mins walk from the city centre via Museum gardens. Cost was reasonable

Early check in given and luggage stored. The room was spotless, beds really comfy and a lovely hot powerful shower. Towels changed every day. Outdoor space was a bonus and lovely to relax in. City centre five minutes away. Superb service from the hosts and an amazing place to stay. Highly recommended.

Hedley House is in a fantastic location. It's in a peaceful street with parking at the back of the building. The lady who greeted us at reception was very nice, friendly and helpful. Our room was fantastic, very spacious and the bathroom was equally spacious and very smart. The beds were so comfortable and the bedding crisply clean. I slept extremely well which is unusual for me in a strange bed. Breakfast is pre-ordered. There was a really good selection of hot options. Continental choice was fresh fruit salad and yoghurts. There were 2 boxes of gluten free cereals on offer and different milk choices (soya etc.) The public areas downstairs are beautiful. The garden with covered seating is beautiful and peaceful. My daughter used the really well equipped gym. We didn't avail of the yoga classes or spa therapies but were really pleased to see they were on offer. There were just a couple of issues I would like to draw the owners' attention to. I would have given my review 5 stars however in our room I was disappointed with housekeeping. I'd asked for our room to be made up on one morning of our 3 night stay. This was done apart from towels I'd left in the bath not being taken away or replaced, the bathroom bin not being emptied and tea bags not being replaced. However the nice lady at reception (mentioned above) dealt with the towels/tea bag issues within 5 minutes. The only things that really let our room down were the curtains in the bedroom, blinds in the bathroom and an empty plastic bottle outside the window which remained there for the duration of our stay. I have attached photographs. The curtains were badly ripped on one side, had huge marks of some kind on the other side and desperately need replaced. The bathroom blinds had threads hanging down in a couple of places. In an otherwise lovely room these things were a big disappointment and not what I would expected from what is sold as a superior room. On our next visit to York I will not hesitate in booking Hedley House. Overall I was really happy with our stay, it's a brilliant hotel.

Wow, what a lovely hotel. 1st of all only 10/15 minute walk to the centre. 5 minutes away from the train station. Room was very spacious and clean bed was lovely and comfortable. Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was the best I have had in a b&b. Thank you for making our break way lovely. Will definitely recommend this hotel.

Our stay at Hedley House was great. The room was spacious and comfortable. Everyone on the staff we interacted with was so accommodating and went out of their way to help us. The breakfasts were very good. We had dinner one night and it was excellent. Great location. We would highly recommend Hedley House.

What a lovely and friendly hotel within just a few hundred yards from the centre of York We had a great time here with a very large comfy bed and huge modern ensuite, food was really good and would rival any local restaurant. We would stay here again and would recommend anyone who visits York to do the same.

Friendly, helpful staff, great location, fantastic food, the rooms were lovely, we couldn't ask for anything else
