Hotels near Pfingstweid Park, Zurich

When I checked in, I was a little confused. I needed a self-made check-in on the website, and I got a password and entered it on the box at the back door to get the key. The room is fairly clean, except for the smelly hallway outside, which is acceptable.

The location is fantastic, just 2 blocks away from the tram and 3 stops away from the Zurich HB train station. The building has a lift, so apart from the few step at the building entrance, no need to haul luggage up. The room is small, but well equipped with stove, pots and pans, cutlery, kettle, microwave, refrigerator. The bathroom is small and there is very little sink space, but there is a shelf on the wall and mirror box for you to put your toiletries. The front desk closes at 6pm, and after hours check in was a little bit stressful, as I tried to call the after hours number and it was unreachable for 10 mins. The hotel had apparently previously sent the access code for the key box to my email, but as I had booked through Trip.com, the access code was sent to Trip.com and not me, and Trip.com did not forward me the access code prior to my arrival. Luckily, after 10 mins I tried to call again and someone finally picked up and I was able to get the access code. Although my room was right next to the lift, it was pretty quiet and the soundproofing was good between the rooms. However, the soundproofing was terrible between the floors. When people upstairs were walking or pulling chairs, we could hear everything and sometimes it continued late into the night. Overall, I would stay here again because the price was really good for what it was in the area. Also, front staff Ivory was very friendly and helpful.

Very nicely maintained hotel in a central location in Thun. Recently stayed a couple of nights in this location and found the hotel to be very well maintained, rooms were clean and less than ten minutes walk to the train station. Location made it quick to walk to train/ferry station to take a very enjoyable ferry ride ride on Lake Thun to then enjoy a day in Interlaken and then the train ride back. Staff that we encountered were great and very helpful answering questions. Highly recommend!

The hotel is located really close to the main station which is super convinient and also there are trams stops close by. So in terms of location it was great! just service of the staff are not too great. started off with really intimidating and rude front desk receptionist during check in. He was really rude and did not want to answer questions when we wanted to ask something and when we first arrivdd he just yelled at us to just wait even though we were just standing and waiting. The daily room cleaning staff was also just throwing our personal things around and not really helping put it back . so overall service wasnt too great and rooms were really small but convinient location

With the stay in a 6-bed dorm room being just an ordinary experience, the best about this place in my opinion are outside the room and specifically the ”wide corridors” nicely spacious to walk around & the ”huge lounge” downstairs with plenty of work-spaces (big tables & chairs all around). And yes, also pretty ”nice & filling” was its buffet-styled breakfast with really a variety of items (actually food available throughout the day with lunch & dinner as well but which you have to pay for unlike the breakfast included with the stay). If coming here from the Zurich Central (HB) Station, there's the train first to Hardbrucke (just one station from HB) followed by the bus to Jugendherberge (about a 15-minute ride and getting off at the station just before its last stop of Morgental). And if going downtown from here to the area with the city's ”main churches” (Fraumunster, Grossmunster & St. Peter's), there's a tram at just about a 5-minute walk ”straight from” the front entrance (and likely at a frequent interval).

I was plagued with trepidation before staying at the Swiss Star California. I had read some negative comments on Google Maps and trip.com, and the dread of what might go wrong loomed heavy over me. However, as fate would have it, my fears were unwarranted - the hotel, or rather, the service apartment, turned out to be a pleasant surprise and surpassed my expectations. The room was clean, well-equipped, and not too shabby. The heater functioned perfectly, which was a relief since it was a frosty February in Zurich. They had everything one would expect from a basic hotel room. But here's a word of caution: after booking your stay, make sure to check your email. You will receive a message from the hotel, not just a confirmation, containing the passcode and room number. Without this information, you might find yourself stranded outside the door, with no one to receive your calls or help with check-in. Trust me; I know how it feels to be left out in the cold, frantically seeking assistance from Trip.com. Furthermore, if you have a lot of luggage, you may want to pray for a room on the ground or first floor. Unfortunately, there is no lift in the building. However, let's not forget that this is one of the most affordable places to stay in Zurich. With that in mind, who could realistically expect luxury amenities and top-notch service? All in all, Swiss Star California proved to be a pleasant surprise and an excellent value for the price.

I have spent 18 days working from JOYN Zurich so think this should be a fairly accurate review of my experience. For context, JOYN is new so may still be working through teething issues, but hopefully this is useful feedback. Pros; - Comfortable, well equipped rooms. I was in one of the largest apartments they offer and it is a good space to spend a lot of time - The kitchenette whilst small is workable and has most of what you'd need - Well located close to the airport and about 25 mins by tram to central Zurich - Nice bathroom and good shower pressure - Gym is good with nice new equipment - Very close to great supermarkets (Coop and Migros next door) - The communal spaces are lovely, including the central courtyard and roof gardens - Strong water pressure from the shower (although the drain didn't seem to be able to cope with the volume of water which meant potential overflowing of the shower unless carefully managed) - The room has a small dishwasher. There were two dishwasher tablets provided and these weren't topped up by the cleaners, meaning you'll need to buy more Unfortunately the cons are pretty significant though, particularly if you want to work from here; Cons - The wifi is atrocious. At best the speeds hover around 1mbps which isn't good enough for stable whatsapp or facetime calls, let alone Teams or Zoom work calls. I thought this may have been my room but is pretty much my experience in all the open spaces including the ground floor communal spaces (see screenshot from Speedtest). This makes it unsuitable for any work. - The cleaning services are a bare minimum. After one week they changed my linen and towels but didn't vacuum, sweep the floor, empty bins or clean the bathroom. After another 7 days they'd hadn't come to clean again and when prompted they said it would be cleaned that day (but it wasn't). On the 8th day I asked and again they promised to have it cleaned. Whilst I wouldn't mind cleaning myself, there is no vacuum cleaner, cleaning cloths or anything else in the room to clean with, so unless you want to buy your own, be prepared for it to get pretty dusty and the bathroom to get dirty. Cleaning also didn't include replacing the kitchen towels so you'll have to wash these yourself if you're staying for an extended period. - Other than the supermarkets nearby there is pretty much nothing else around Perhaps they're not used to guests having longer stays, but with cleaning services like this, it will become pretty horrible unless guests buy the cleaning products and do it themselves.

This is a good value 4 stars hotel with friendly front desk staffs. Check-in and check-out was comfortable and easy. Very good location as Tram stop is just right outside the hotel and Tram 10 and 12 directly from airport and can transfer to Zurich HB which was very convenient. Will highly recommend and can come back again.

The hotel is wonderful in many aspects. The interesting thing is that it is located in Walliselen, just right next to Glatt Zentrum shopping department store. The hotel offers air-conditioned rooms and free WiFi access throughout the property. The Internet speed is fast. With the modern electric tram, not only the bus, brings me to reach the city center of Zurich and the Main Train Station in short time. In the room, it provides a flat-screen cable TV, a desk, and a bathroom with shower. At lobby area, I noticed that guests can also enjoy the food corner. There is a vending machines there. When need anything, the 24-hour front reception always is there. Very helpful staffs. I also would like to mention the General manager, Mr. Frank Trapa. He is very friendly. Lets begin with the one thing every international traveler staying at an airport hotel needs: power for one's devices. The guest rooms don't have any USB ports. The electrical outlets are the deeply recessed teardrop shape specifically designed to thwart the use of international outlet adaptor kits. The hotel does not have adaptors to lend. The front desk's solution? They have USB ports behind the front desk (then why not in the rooms?) and you can leave your device at the desk to be charged. Clearly, this hotel would prefer that you be Swiss. The WiFi network was completely unsecured and it kept disconnecting. Every 30 seconds or so. Moving on to the room: not very comfortable. The outside temperature was around 78F/25.5C and I had the AC turned up, but I still couldn't wear anything other than my unmentionables until the sun set and the outdoor temperature drpped. There are heavy metal blinds on the windows which can be opened but not raised or lowered. Kind of like the metal grates you see on store windows in dicey neighborhoods in New York. The sheets were thin. On one of the beds, the sheet had several black marks, although it appeared to have been laundered. There was a safe and an electric kettle. In the closet, the panel covering the circuit breaker panel had been removed from (or fallen off?) the wall and was on the floor leaning against the closet wall. Good thing I didn't need to hang anything up. Maybe someone was trying to find a way to plug in their phone. The water pressure in the shower was just barely adequate. Someone had installed the sink faucet handle incorrectly, so you could only turn it to the left. The towels were pretty good, however. The breakfast buffet is 5CHF, but if you want to get breakfast in your room, you will pay an additional 26CHF. I like getting room service for breakfast and I've stayed at many hotels that are much better than this one, but I have never seen a room service charge anywhere in the same galaxy. Even if breakfast costs $25 and there is a $3 charge plus 18% service charge plus you tip 18%, that is still less than half of what the Dorint will charge you to get breakfast brought to you room. I ate at the bar with a group of people and we requested separate checks before we ordered. The food was fine, if pricey. My gin and soda cost 21.5 CHF. Again, I stayed in two other, far better, hotels in the Bernes Alps during the same trip, and I never paid more than 13CHF for the same drink. When it came time to pay, one might have wondered if the server and bartender were solving Fermat's last theorem rather than adding up seven checks for a one course supper. It took as long to pay as it did to eat.
