Poetry under the plum moon, drunk in the willow wind—Fuzhou Xiaohuanglou.

At No. 36, North Section, Huangxiang, Nanhou Street, there is a large house called Huang Family Courtyard. It was originally the former residence of Tang Dynasty scholar Huang Pu, and later generations called it Huanglou. During the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, Liang Zhangju, governor of the two rivers, carried out a comprehensive renovation of Huang Pu's former residence and built the West Flower Hall and East Garden. After Liang Zhangju moved in, he named the West Flower Hall Xiaohuanglou to express his respect for the great scholar Huang Pu. Xiaohuanglou was announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 2006. It is now the Chinese Museum of Couplets Related to Taiwan, with more than 100 couplets and plaques from the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the President of the Republic of China Xu Shichang, and the Beiyang warlord Feng Guozhang. In the West Flower Hall, the small bridge, rockery, water, pavilions, and koi swimming in the small lake form a charming Min-style garden art painting. On the east side of the rockery in the flower hall, there is a "Mango King," which is said to have been planted by the owner of the house, Huang Pu. It is the oldest tree in Sanfang Qixiang and one of the two largest mango trees in Fuzhou. Xiaohuanglou, which has experienced a century of sedimentation, has witnessed generations of literati and scholars starting from here, full of ambition and vigor. Today, Xiaohuanglou still adheres to the unique cultural tradition of "the house inherits the sages, and the door listens to the elders' cars" and the cultural heritage of "a belly full of poetry and books makes one elegant."
