Zhangpu Popular Attraction ----- Xingjiao Temple

Zhangpu Xingjiao Temple is located in the county center (No. 72 Dating Road). It is a historic Buddhist temple with profound cultural heritage and is the largest temple in Zhangpu. Its predecessor was the Zhangzhou Kaiyuan Temple, built by imperial decree during the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty. It was later rebuilt on the original site and now serves as the location of the Zhangpu County Buddhist Association and a key temple for cross-strait exchanges. The temple architecture is magnificent, featuring the "Hundred Pillar Hall" as its core highlight. The multi-eaved, hip-and-gable roof structure is complemented by delicate relief carvings and compact dougong brackets, showcasing the simple and solemn architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. The layout is orderly, with the mountain gate leading sequentially to the Mahavira Hall, Bell and Drum Towers, Dharma Hall, and Abbot’s quarters. To the east is the Guquan Jing She, and to the west are Qingxuan and the "Bu Er" inscribed room, collectively presenting a serene and elegant Zen atmosphere. As a place dedicated to Amitabha Buddha, Xingjiao Temple is not only a site for devotees to cultivate and propagate the Dharma but also a religious link connecting Taiwanese compatriots and overseas Chinese. It actively engages in charitable activities and folk religious events, serving both religious cultural heritage and social welfare functions. The scenic area is open 24 hours for free, with operating hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
