Furongzhen

Getting to Furongzhen is easy enough though requires several steps if you don't have your own cae. Coming from Zhangjiajie we took a Didi, the high speed rail and then a taxi to the town. You then have to do the reverse to get back. We actually had to have someone call us a taxi from the scenic area since they aren't readily available and there aren't Didi's there. The attraction itself is pretty great. There are a few hiking trails and the one under the waterfall is pretty cool. We also hiked along the cliffs for a great view of the town and waterfall. There are countless restaurants and shops so you could probably spend the whole day there if you we're into that sort of thing, though be ready to pay for it! Foreigners need there passports to enter but it's easy enough otherwise. We have an 8 month old and brought our striller which was a mistake since there are lots and lots of stairs. If you have a little one I'd suggest bring some kind of baby carrier. Overall, a worthwhile daytrip from Zhangjiajie.#furongzhen #daytrip

Furongzhen - Magical Waterfall Village

Getting There - go to the bus terminal in Zhangjiajie. buy the ticket and wait for the next available bus. It costs around ¥30 and takes around 2 hours. Wear your seatbelt - it’s a bumpy ride. Sitting in the bus is a beautiful way to observe rural farms and natural China mountain scenery. Attractions - you are required to buy the ticket to enter the scenic town. There’s a waterfall you can walk under, you can ride the boat, you can find a restaurant with a beautiful view. There’s even an outdoor cinema. Choose the things you like. You can do everything in one or two days. Hotels - the hotels inside the tourist area are more expensive. If you don’t mind walking for 10-15 minutes you can get a pretty cheap room on the main road before entering the water villiage. If you prefer luxury - try to find the hotel with the good view. There is good availability and many places to choose from. Food & Restaurants - many restaurants here serve delicious Hunan dishes. Try to find the place to eat where you can see the waterfall and enjoy fresh fish from the river. Delicious! Shopping - there are lots of little shops to buy souvenirs, cold drinks or ice cream. There is a forest park in Yongshun County, Xiangxi, Hunan, which is worth a visit. Bu Ermen Forest Park is located on the bank of Mengdong River, 1.5 km south of Yongshun County, with a total area of 30 square kilometers. It is the northern gate of Mengdong River Scenic Area. It features Shiqi, hot springs, stone carvings, and Guanyin worship. The limestone, lotus pond, and eight-figure maps of limestone dissolution are regarded as the magical work of nature. The TV series "Oolong Mountain" and "Xiangxi Yuji" were filmed here. Buddhid Forest Park has a variety of large karst stones, and different stones are spliced into different shapes. Looking up at the sky, the sky is sometimes wide, sometimes narrow and into a line of days. Walking through the stone array, the aroma of the vegetation is refreshing. Bu Ermen Forest Park is the first national forest park to receive the authorization of the China National Forest Park. It is also one of the Buddhist resorts in Hunan Province. This ancient town hanging on the cliff is really worth it. The big waterfall is well-deserved, very photogenic!! About transportation: Take a bullet train directly to "Furong Town" station, there is a bus to the scenic area, or you can take a taxi directly, it is very close in ten minutes! Self-driving can navigate to the "Furong Town Tourist Center" to reach the scenic area parking lot (charged). If you live in a homestay in the scenic area, you can find the homestay owner in advance. Generally, you can park at the door of the homestay. Group tickets: 103 for adults, 60 for children/elderly. Find the homestay owner to book it cheaper, you can ask in advance! Furong Town must check in 1 Guanpu Terrace Scenic Area Viewing Platform Immersive This ancient town hanging on the waterfall overlooks the panoramic view of Furong Town. It is easy to take pictures during the day and night! 2 Furong Big Waterfall If you have a drone, you must bring it. The God’s perspective is even more spectacular. Some shops and landscapes opposite the waterfall are also very good! 3 Tuhuang Bridge Tujia Wind and Rain Bridge can take a panoramic view of the ancient town stilt building, must check in! 4 Wuli Stone Slab Street Ancient Town The oldest street witnessed the changes of the ancient town for thousands of years. Yongshun Laosi Fortress

Located 20 kilometers away from the Yongshun county town, on the mountain lies the ruins of Laosi Fortress. Laosi Fortress was established by the Peng clan Tusi during the Southern Song Dynasty and was abandoned after moving to a new location following allegiance to the Qing Dynasty. The ruins of Laosi Fortress are on the World Heritage list. The site is built on a mountain separated by a river and contains urban elements such as residential areas, city walls, roads, city gates, drainage systems, cool caves, and ancestral halls. Some say it can be compared to Peru's Machu Picchu; of course, its grandeur cannot be matched, but its purpose and elements of construction are similar, and from a distance, it is still awe-inspiring. The scenic area is vast, with many relics, including the Baishou Hall, the old village, and ancient temples. I have only focused on the Laosi Fortress ruins. I stayed here for 4 hours. There is a regular shuttle bus from Yongshun bus station. There are many attractions around Laosi Fortress, but they are not convenient for independent travelers.

Yongshun Buniu Men National Forest Park

Opposite the bus station in Yongshun County of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is the Mengdong River Canyon, where there is a national key protected park called Buniu Men National Forest Park. The facade doesn't look impressive, but once you enter the spacious trails, you immediately discover its uniqueness. It is characterized by its peculiar rocks, hot springs, stone carvings, and Buddhist temples, making it a Buddhist haven. The park is fully open and serves as a place for locals to exercise in the morning and evening.
