"I had a very comfortable stay, and the value for money was excellent. The service was great, I'm very satisfied, and I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in town. The location is fantastic; it's right next to Xuguangqi Memorial Park, and both Xujiahui Library and the Cathedral are just a few minutes' walk away. Across the street is Metro City, so all your dining, entertainment, and shopping needs are right there. The facilities are comprehensive, and everything is very clean. SShanghai based coupleAs a couple who has lived in Shanghai together for almost 10 years, with one of us also Shanghainese, we have been to a lot of the best places in Shanghai, and some of the more recommended places in about 20 cities in the broader nearby area. Nothing in the city or within several hours of high-speed rail compares to a stay at Ritz-Carlton Pudong. In Asia and indeed the planet, this impeccable hotel experience stands as an iconic example of old-world elegance and service. In addition, it also offers a unique view of both some of the most modern and tallest buildings and the city’s famed Bund riverside, home to a variety of art deco architectural masterpieces. We had the incredible good fortune to start our honeymoon at the Ritz in Pudong, and this last stay was our last honeymoon treat. As always, it was a spectacular experience that we cannot recommend enough. The most extraordinary part of the stay really is the staff, they are all world class people who go above and beyond to make the Ritz-Carlton Pudong such an exceptional institution in one of the world’s leading cities. Sincere thanks to the whole team for making this happen, including Cherryl, who made reservation delightfully effortless, Chris who helped us to our room, and Joey and Ruby who helped in the evening. Special and heartfelt thanks to the whole team who make the Club Lounge experience world beating: Eddie and Junita, who both lead by example, have a deep passion for the details that create excellence, as well as being just the nicest people. They are both incredibly inspiring leaders and professionals. Claire is generally excellent there but also was phenomenally helpful to get a bag back when it was left behind, we really apricated that. Jeramy and Vivian also are amazing, as are Club Lounge’s chef’s Joe and Austin. Sherry is a real star, attentive, sharp and so helpful. Last but not least, Helen, who was the first person to greet us after we got married, and fittingly the last person to help us create personalised room key cards with our wedding photo on it, and most recently a special photo of family from our honeymoon. Those keycards are really cool keepsakes, but making them is not as simple as you might think: the image is etched into the key, not printed, so the original photo needs to be translated by AI into an image that the etching system is capable of delivering, which is really impressive. When I showed my mom who lives very far away, even she was impressed with Helen’s work. Ordinarily we prioritise new experiences over more of the same, regardless of how comfortable and nice it is. But regardless of how hard we try, we have not been able to figure out a better way to celebrate our biggest moments than a stay at the Ritz in Pudong.

GGuest UserThis is another hidden gem of a hotel that exceeded all my expectations! 😍 Located in the New World on Nanjing Road, its prime location goes without saying. Despite being 20 years old, the hotel is remarkably well-maintained. The rooms, hallways, and lobby all exude a sense of comfort. The rooms are fully equipped with practical amenities, avoiding unnecessary clutter. The swimming pool was a pleasant surprise – the views, cleanliness, water temperature, facilities, and service were all exceptional, making for an experience far beyond what I anticipated 👍. The revolving restaurant on the 45th floor is also worth multiple visits – highly recommended! The staff are incredibly well-trained, from the front desk to housekeeping, and the restaurant and gym staff, all providing warm, comfortable, and professional service. The price during the Chinese New Year holiday was also incredibly attractive! A truly wonderful experience!

BBuchicaomeidangaodexiaoguniangyayaI also booked a room for my parents. The hotel even upgraded our room type. The minibar was free on the first day. Given the design and facilities, this hotel is really great value for money, especially during Chinese New Year in Shanghai. The only minor issues were that the shower pressure wasn't very strong, and the room was a bit warm – the AC didn't seem to make much difference. However, the location is super convenient for getting around. It's easy to get to Magnolia Plaza and the riverside greenway to see the 'three-piece suit' (Lujiazui skyline). It's also only about a ten-minute drive to the Jing'an Temple area. I'd definitely stay here again on my next visit.

AAnonymous UserPros: 1. Upon arrival on check-in day, a doorman helped open the car door and took our luggage, escorting us to the front desk. Our bags were then delivered directly to the room by staff. 2. The hotel staff's service attitude was excellent, and the front desk handled everything professionally. 3. We booked a river-view king room and paid extra to upgrade to a Bund panoramic view king room (not sure if that's the exact name). I have to say, the view was absolutely stunning – exactly what everyone hopes for! You could see the Oriental Pearl Tower, the 'Three-piece Suit' (referring to the three tallest skyscrapers), the Huangpu River, and the entire Bund, all unobstructed. 4. The hotel boasts an excellent location, right next to Binjiang Park, perfect for a leisurely stroll anytime. The surrounding area has complete commercial amenities, offering plenty of options for dining, entertainment, and shopping. The hotel itself is a quiet oasis in a bustling area, perfectly aligning with Banyan Tree's resort positioning. 5. The room facilities were premium, and amenities were comprehensive: a circular bathtub, a double-basin vanity in the bathroom, a smart toilet, and a shower with three types of nozzles and excellent water pressure. 6. The room received complimentary bottled water and a small beverage daily. You can definitely cut down on ordering outside drinks when staying here; the in-room supply is enough. 7. The first round of soft drinks in the mini-bar was complimentary upon check-in. 8. Any issues we reported via phone were handled swiftly by the hotel. 9. The best perk during our stay was the breakfast, served from 7 AM until *12 PM*! Being able to sleep in and essentially save on lunch was fantastic. 10. The hotel's cleaning staff was prompt and even asked for our preferred cleaning time, which was very thoughtful. 11. On check-out day, I wasn't quite ready to leave and wanted to extend our check-out time. The front desk was busy with another guest's call and I couldn't reach them immediately. Afterwards, Ms. Minnie, the hotel's room division staff, promptly called me back and arranged for a late check-out until 1 PM. Her professionalism and quick response were commendable. Cons: 1. For a luxury hotel with this location and view, don't expect free room upgrades. Upgrades come with an extra charge, and having such an expectation can lead to a slight disappointment. 2. The hotel's check-in time is strictly 3 PM. If you arrive early, you'll either have to wait or go out to explore. 3. The room wasn't soundproof. I noticed a gap under the room door, and a noticeable space between the door and its frame. No wonder you could hear every little sound from the hallway, and conversely, anything happening in the room was audible from the corridor. This compromises privacy a bit, making it less suitable for couples or those (like me) who enjoy listening to music with speakers in the room, as it might disturb others. 4. Food delivery is a common issue and a typical drawback of older luxury hotels: deliveries aren't allowed directly to the room; guests have to go down to pick them up themselves. There are no smart robots for delivery. 5. Other snacks in the mini-bar are not complimentary. Given the price point of the rooms, the hotel could be a bit more generous. 6. The breakfast selection was quite limited, comparable to a buffet breakfast you'd find in a hotel costing around 100 RMB. For example, a few years ago, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt by the river in Changsha, Hunan, where the breakfast offered Chinese, Western, Japanese, and Korean options, plus seafood and sashimi – I could spend over an hour enjoying breakfast there. For the price point of the Banyan Tree on the Bund, this level of breakfast is genuinely a bit disappointing and should be upgraded.

GGuest UserThis was my first time staying at this hotel, and I have to give the Pullman Shanghai Jing'an a full five stars! What impressed me the most was the attentive and professional service. The front desk staff were patient and thoughtful, proactively offering travel tips. When I accidentally left something behind, they handled it with care and helped me retrieve it quickly, which was incredibly reassuring. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained with new facilities. Breakfast was abundant and delicious, and the common areas were quiet and stylish. Despite being in the heart of the central business district, it was surprisingly peaceful. Both the hardware quality and the soft services were impeccable, truly making you feel at home. It's my top choice for hotels in Shanghai, and I highly recommend it to everyone. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I have the opportunity!

EEricMSo close to perfection.... So close. I have been putting off staying at this hotel for years, and that is a regret. This hotel is amazing. Location, Great. Staff, friendly. Beds, comfortable. 24 hour room service, fantastic. Bidet toilet seat, amazing. For the price, this hotel is a steal. Better service and better rooms than hotels that are double the price. My biggest problem. The bathtub is too small. It looks big, but for a 190cm guy, it's just way way too small. Looks big in pictures... Not in reality. They probably have bigger tubs in different rooms (maybe executive or suites). I will contact them before booking again to make sure tub is big. The pool is great. The Sauna and steam room in the changing rooms are great. I do wish there was a jacuzzi or some hot pool... Either in the gendered changing rooms or by the pool. Recommendations: the bathrobes are small, get some plus sized ones. More coffee in the room, 2 pods aren't enough. More water in rooms, 4 small bottles aren't enough. Allow cooling during winter, I know it's not easy, but many expats don't want 25° rooms. Finally... For room service. EGGS BENEDICT!!!! You already have a good room service breakfast menu... But you need eggs Benedict. I judge hotels room service based on club sandwiches. This club sandwich was mid tier. Not bad, not fantastic. Granted I ordered the late night club sandwich. Maybe there is a difference. But this is the same with all of the other room service food I ordered. Good. Just a few steps away from great. But super happy there is a 24hr menu! Next time I stay I will experiment with regular hours food vs late night. In all. This hotel is amazing! Definitely will stay again. Just hopefully I can get a bigger bathtub next time.

AAnonymous UserThis hotel is truly at the heart of the Bund! The century-old architecture creates an amazing atmosphere, perfect for effortless photos. The room was clean and spacious, the bed super comfortable, and the soundproofing excellent – a quiet oasis in a bustling area. The service was gentle and meticulous, from the doorman to housekeeping, everyone was very professional. The location is absolutely unbeatable; step out and you're right on the Bund, making sightseeing and dining incredibly convenient. The quality truly lives up to the brand. My stay was absolutely perfect, and it's definitely worth coming back to.

GGuest UserI stayed at the Andaz Hotel with my parents during the Chinese New Year holiday. Although the decor is a bit dated due to the hotel's age, the meticulous upkeep and cleaning still made for a very pleasant stay. I absolutely loved the full set of Byredo's Eleventh Hour toiletries provided in the room – they're unique, not overly common, and show great taste! The only minor drawback was that the smart control buttons in the room were a bit old and not very responsive, making it slightly less convenient than when I stayed a few years ago. Also, the TV is old, and watching the Spring Festival Gala and Winter Olympics felt a bit anachronistic, I hope they can improve this in the future! All the hotel staff (including the front desk, restaurant, room service, housekeeping, security, concierge, etc.) were very dedicated and had excellent service attitudes, promptly responding to any requests. I especially want to commend the staff who cleaned room 2505 on 2/18 during check-out; they found a piece of jewelry that my elderly parent had lost, and my parent specifically asked me to give them a good review and thanks! On the morning of the second day of Chinese New Year, there was also a lion dance performance that toured the restaurant and took photos with guests. Overall, this was a great stay, and I would definitely come back again if I have the chance.

GGuest UserThe room was quite spacious and very close to the subway station (Jing'an Temple, Exit 12, right next door). The elevator was also fast. The only minor inconveniences were the bathtub, which was a bit awkward, and having to pick up food deliveries from the locker downstairs. Other than that, everything else was good and satisfactory.

GGuest UserThe room was newly renovated, and we could even see the Oriental Pearl Tower from our window when we pulled back the curtains, which was a nice bonus. Facilities: Quite new Cleanliness: Pretty clean Environment: Overall okay Service: The service deserves praise. Although the check-in process took a bit longer, the service experience after checking in was excellent. A butler checked in with us about our stay, and when we had an issue with breakfast during our Chinese New Year trip, the butler immediately provided a solution. It was really good.
