Shuicheng Ancient Town

Shuicheng Ancient Townis located in the old town area of Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City. It was established in the tenth year of the Qing Dynasty's Yongzheng era (1732) and has a history of nearly 300 years. Because the city resembles a lotus leaf floating on the water when flooded, it has an elegant nickname: "Lotus City." The ancient town is situated in the center of Liupanshui, known as the "Cool Capital of China," so there is little heat even when visiting in midsummer. The ancient town is themed around "culture" and "landscape," laid out with a pattern of "one river winding around two cores, seven bridges connecting the past and present." The inner city river flows through the town, connecting the old blue-tiled houses on both banks with the architectural complex left over from the "Third Front Construction" period in the 1960s, with the former residences of the Yang, Liao, and Luo families scattered in between. The Guizhou Third Front Construction Museum in the town focuses on "Third Front" culture, using old photos and physical exhibits to make that era of construction concrete and tangible—a theme rarely seen in similar scenic spots. If you get tired of walking, there are trolley cars on land, or you can take a boat on the river to see the continuous pavilions on both banks from a different angle. The ancient town is adjacent to Fengchi Garden, so you can stop by the park after touring the old town. Eating is a major highlight here, and Luoguo (griddle-cooked dishes) is a signature you cannot miss: the small griddle is heated, and potatoes, tofu, and pork belly sizzle on it. Dipping them in a dish of chili powder and pairing them with a bowl of lamb rice noodles or lamb soup makes the meal complete. Steamed cakes, jelly noodles, and ice jelly are perfect for eating on the go. This place is perfect for slowing down your pace. Many tourists specifically arrange their itinerary for the evening: visit the museum during the day, eat Luoguo at night, and wait for the lights to turn on one by one, reflecting the continuous shadows of lights on the water, giving the old town's night a unique charm.Liupanshui · 5.1km from downtown

Wumeng Mountain National Geopark is located in Liupanshui City in the west of Guizhou Province. It is characterized by the peak of Wumeng Mountain and its eastern slope plateau karst geology. It has various types of karst geological relics and landforms formed in various periods since the Cenozoic. The typical plateau karst landform area is praised as "a large geological museum" by geologists and scholars. Wumeng Mountain National Geopark is divided into two parks, namely Beipanjiang Canyon Park and Biyun Cave Karst Cave Group Park. Beipanjiang Canyon Park includes Shuicheng Peak Forest Scenic Spot, Yushe National Forest Park, Beipanjiang Canyon Scenic Spot, Wild Bell Black Langur Nature Reserve, Faer Rotary Structure Platform Scenic Spot, Slope Grassland (Basalt Fangshan Platform) Scenic Spot , Liuche River Canyon Scenic Spot and Gesuo River Canyon Scenic Spot, the main line is the majestic and steep canyon scenery of Beipanjiang Karst Grand Canyon. The Biyun Cave Karst Cave Group Park consists of Danxia Mountain Scenic Area, Biyun Cave Scenic Area and Panxian Ancient City Scenic Area, featuring the strange cave resources and karst mountain scenery in Pan County. Wumeng Mountain National Geopark is home to many ethnic minorities such as Miao, Buyi, and Yi, with strong ethnic customs and rich and colorful ethnic cultures. Yelang culture, red culture, and ancient city culture all have a long history. So far, tourists can participate in different ethnic festivals at different times. The Miao nationality's annual February 15th is the Flower Dance Festival, and the May 5th is the flower field; the annual lunar June 24th is the Yi nationality's Torch Festival; The Nuo dance of the Yi nationality, commonly known as the God of Dance, is eye-opening. In addition, the red culture in Wumengshan National Geopark has a long history. The Panxian meeting site of the Second and Sixth Army Corps of the Red Army in the old town of Panxian County was once the headquarters of the Second and Sixth Army Corps of the Red Army of Chinese Workers and Peasants. It was originally a military camp built by the National Revolutionary Army in 1928, commonly known as Jiujianlou. At the end of March 1936, the leaders of the legion held a Panxian meeting here and decided to cross the Jinsha River and go north to fight against Japan. Later, it was identified as a provincial cultural relics protection unit. Wumengshan National Geopark has a vast territory and many scenic spots. Generally speaking, it is not enough to play in one day. You can choose according to the type you like. Of course, if you have enough time, it is not an exaggeration to spend 2-3 days in the entire Wumeng Mountain National Geopark.Liupanshui · 3.6km from downtown

Beipanjiang Bridge

Beipanjiang Bridgespans the border between Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, crossing the deep valley of the Nizhu River, a tributary of the Beipanjiang River. It connects Liupanshui in Guizhou and Xuanwei in Yunnan, and is a key project of the Bijie-Duge section of the Hangzhou-Ruili Expressway. Construction of the bridge began in 2013, and it opened to traffic at the end of 2016. The bridge deck is a four-lane expressway. After opening, the travel time between Liupanshui and Xuanwei was reduced from the previous four or five hours to about one hour, becoming a shortcut for travel between Guizhou and Yunnan. What truly makes this bridge memorable is its height: the vertical clearance from the bridge deck to the valley floor is about 565m, equivalent to nearly 200 stories, which is even higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. For several years after opening, this deck height ranked among the highest of all bridges globally. It uses a twin-tower steel truss cable-stayed bridge structure with a main span of 720m, and the total length of the bridge is about 1.3 km. The main towers on both banks rise from the edge of the valley, with the one on the Guizhou side standing about 269m tall. Its design and construction won the Gustav Lindenthal Medal at the International Bridge Conference. Driving on the bridge, the deep valley slowly unfolds beneath your feet, and the river at the bottom looks like a thin line. On clear mornings after rain, clouds and mist often drift through the valley, making the bridge deck feel as if it is suspended in mid-air, creating a truly authentic "bridge in the clouds" experience.Liupanshui · 26.9km from downtown

It's very beautiful and takes great photos. It's so picturesque that you'll want to stay forever. We spent a long time there. The only downside was that it was very crowded when we went, with long queues to go up the mountain. Also, be careful with your car; the slope is very steep, and it's definitely difficult for most cars to climb. I heard that cars aren't allowed to go any further in now, but I have to say the scenery is absolutely gorgeous.

The world's longest high-speed cable car 🚡 is worth experiencing; the high-altitude glass bridge was especially meaningful as it coincided with Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day), and it's worth seeing for those who aren't afraid of heights; otherwise, there's nothing particularly special, although some parts weren't well-maintained and need improvement.

It's really great, highly recommended! It has a strong Northeastern Chinese flavor, the NPCs are all very cute, the game is fun, the shows are fantastic, and the animals are adorable. The evening shows are amazing, the fireworks are spectacular, and the Bear House is also great. There are also two bears, Big Bear and Little Bear, and you can even eat roasted potatoes at night.

It is worth a visit. The environment is very good. There are cattle, sheep and horses grazing on the natural grassland. There are also wild fruits to eat. The beef raised on yellow strawberries is a must. This season is very suitable for summer vacation. There are also homestays in the scenic area.

Beipanjiang Bridge, formerly known as Nizhu River Bridge, is located at the junction of Guizhou and Yunnan provinces in China. It is part of the Beipanjiang Bridge in Bidu on the Hangrui Expressway. We visited in mid-September, which is the off-season for the scenic area. Many attractions were closed, but we still had a great time. The scenery was beautiful, and the cable car was very long. Highly recommended.
