Baili Azalea Scenic Area

4.2/5
3.1k reviews
The Baili Azalea Scenic Area is located in the central part of Bijie City, Guizhou, at the border of Dafang and Qianxi. It is a natural wild azalea forest belt, named for its hundred-mile stretch of blooming flowers. Around mid-March each year, azaleas of various colors bloom sequentially from low to high altitudes, with the flowering period typically lasting until late April. The exact dates vary depending on the year's temperature. The peak bloom period is relatively short, so to catch the spectacular sight of flowers covering the mountains, it's best to monitor the bloom status and plan your visit accordingly. The wild azaleas in the forest include dozens of species such as rhododendron delavayi, rhododendron irroratum, and rhododendron anthosphaerum. When in bloom, the red flowers resemble flames, the pink ones resemble rosy clouds, and shades of purple and white intermingle. A unique feature is "different flowers on the same tree"—a single tree can produce blooms of varying shades. This phenomenon is commonly seen in the Pudi and Jinpo scenic areas, as well as the Huangping "Ten-Mile Azalea" zone. The "Azalea King," a thousand-year-old tree with tens of thousands of blossoms, is a must-see for many travelers. The Jinpo area, at a lower altitude, blooms slightly earlier, while Pudi blooms a bit later. If time permits, visiting both areas ensures you don't miss the full spectacle. The region is also home to the Yi and Miao ethnic groups, and the flower season often coincides with traditional festivals like the Yi Flower-Inserting Festival and the Miao Flower-Dancing Festival. The vibrant ethnic costumes and dances complement the floral landscape beautifully. The scenic area is distributed in a belt-like pattern, with some distance between sections, so planning your route in advance is advisable. Even if you miss the blooming season, the Baili Azalea Scenic Area remains pleasantly cool in summer, with its forests, grasslands, and river valleys offering a refreshing retreat.Dafang · 25.9km from Qianxi

Wujiangyuan Baili Gallery is situated in the southern part of Moxi County. It was formed due to the construction of the hydroelectric power station. Within the scenic area, many waterfalls and springs fall into the lake. It is a beautiful cliff art gallery on top of Wujiayuan. The lake water is clear, the reflection is vivid, and the cliffs on the two sides are steep. There is a lot of cliff art, which is mysterious and in different forms. It is an absolutely breathtaking cliff art gallery on the thousand-mile Wu River, hence its name, Wujiangyuan Hundred Mile Gallery.Zhijin · 29.1km from Qianxi

Hongyadong commercial street is located on Cangbai Road of Yuzhong District, Chongqing City. It is at the intersection where the Yangtze River and the Jialing River meet. Most of its buildings are “Diaojialou” style, which reflects traditional architectural features of Bayu. It is a great place to go if you want to check out the old streets of Chongqing, appreciate the two rivers, or try local cuisines. At the same time, it is home to a bustling night scene, making it a fascinating attraction for photographers.China · Chongqing

Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street

Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street is the long-established core commercial district in Chongqing, located on the Yuzhong Peninsula. Centered around the Monument to the People's Liberation at its heart, it extends along several streets including Minquan Road, Minzu Road, Zourong Road, and Bayi Road. The monument is an octagonal tower-shaped structure, originally built to commemorate the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and later renamed the Monument to the People's Liberation. Its four-sided clock at the top makes it a highly recognizable landmark in Chongqing, and most travelers visiting here take photos in front of it. Shopping and food are the two main themes of the pedestrian street: the area around the monument is densely packed with shopping malls and traditional department stores. When tired from shopping, visitors can turn into Bayi Road Snack Street, where sour and spicy noodles, small glutinous rice balls, and wontons line the street, allowing them to sample all of Chongqing's snacks while strolling. Hidden around the commercial district are Luohan Temple and Nengren Temple on Zhonghua Road, two ancient temples nestled among skyscrapers, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. At night, the pedestrian street takes on a different vibe: building screens and neon lights illuminate the area, and the square in front of the monument becomes a popular spot for night photography. Every New Year's Eve, many locals gather under the monument to listen to the New Year's bell and count down together—a tradition that has continued for years. The crowd is enormous that night, so those wishing to experience the atmosphere should plan ahead. A short 15-minute walk from the monument leads to Hongya Cave, making it ideal to combine both locations into a nightlife route.China · Chongqing

Ciqikou Town is located beside Chongqing city. It used to serve as a goods unloading dock. The town has more than a dozen streets and it is filled with ancient Ming Dynasty architectures. You can walk along ancient paths, taste local food and snacks, and chill in a teahouse to feel the ambience of old Chongqing. As the town is very close to the urban area, it is a popular attraction for urbanites' recreational activities. Mao Xuewang, Qianzhangpi and salt-and-pepper peanuts are the three specialties in the town. The "Chen Fried Dough Twist" is also a must-try when you are there.China · Chongqing

Guizhou Provincial Museum

478 reviews
The Guizhou Provincial Museum is a comprehensive museum showcasing the history and ethnic culture of Guizhou. The new building, completed and opened in 2017, is a brown rhombus-shaped structure adorned with colorful accents on its exterior, symbolizing "though small as a rhombus stone, it embodies the thousand mountains and islands of Guizhou's culture." The museum features three permanent exhibitions: "Ethnic Guizhou," "Kingdom of Paleontology," and "Historical Guizhou," along with functional areas such as a digital experience hall, intangible cultural heritage theater, and 4D cinema. "Historical Guizhou" unfolds along themes such as the exploration of Guanyin Cave, the traces of Yelang, and the path to provincial establishment: the large number of chipped stone tools unearthed at the Qianxi Guanyin Cave site push back the history of human activity in Guizhou to the early Paleolithic era. The restored scene of "head-covered burials" in Hezhang Kele, the early-known Shizhaishan-type bronze drum of Guizhou, and the weapon molds excavated from the Puan Bronze Drum Mountain site together outline the mysterious bronze culture of Yelang. The Eastern Han bronze chariot and horse unearthed from the Wantu Han tomb in Xingyi is widely recognized as the museum's crown jewel, with the bronze horse raising its head in a neigh and the chariot canopy's bronze as thin as paper. The Ming Dynasty golden phoenix crown excavated from the Yang family chieftain's tomb in Zunyi is inlaid with hundreds of rubies and sapphires, while the sets of glazed pottery figurines in ceremonial procession are equally striking. The "Kingdom of Paleontology" takes visitors back to the oceans of hundreds of millions of years ago in Guizhou: The Guizhouosaurus hui measures only 20-30 cm in length, discovered in Xingyi in 1957, and was the first marine reptile found and named by Chinese scholars. The ichthyosaur and crinoid fossils of the Guanling biota, as well as the Orientognathus from the Panxian biota with its neck accounting for nearly half its body length, are all worth a closer look. "Ethnic Guizhou" highlights the museum's collection: the first floor recreates village scenes with stilt houses and covered bridges, while the second floor showcases ethnic costumes such as Miao ceremonial attire, silver horn headdresses, and Shui horse-tail embroidery baby carriers, with the Miao clothing and silver adornments ranking among the finest in China. The rare Song Dynasty egret-patterned wax-dyed women's outfit unearthed in Pingba and the century-old Qing Dynasty dragon boat collected from the banks of the Qingshui River each carry their own stories. Each of the three exhibitions offers a distinct focus, and a full tour takes you from Guizhou's ancient oceanic past to its present-day multi-ethnic culture, so ample time is recommended for a thorough visit.Guiyang · 72.5km from Qianxi

I rushed towards Baili Rhododendron with great excitement, thinking I had stumbled into a fairyland, but reality was like a burst bubble. I guess only aerial photography can capture that feeling, lacking the filters and meticulous editing of traditional film.

🔆What did you travel for❓ 🔅I traveled for a bridge🌀 In order to see the Yachi River Bridge, I flew from Shanghai✈️ to Bijie, then took a car🚌 from Bijie to Qianxi, then🚐 from Qianxi to Xinren Township, and finally took a motorcycle🏍 from Xinren Township to Huawuji Miao Village. Why not drive yourself if you want to go❓ If I had known it would be so troublesome, I would not have gone😂 Is it worth going❓ It’s worth it‼ ️Life is about trouble, this exploration trip is a precious treasure of my life. What’s good to see❓ When you come to the Yachi River Bridge, you will feel the insignificance and greatness of human beings😊 The natural barrier has become a thoroughfare🌐. Before the opening of the road, it took several ups and downs to get from Guiyang to Bijie, but now it’s just a matter of stepping on the accelerator. The scenery of the Wujiang River on both sides is also unique. There is the "Wujiang Source Hundred Miles Gallery" here, with pristine natural scenery, super beautiful~😍 ⚠️Finally, let me share some relevant knowledge points about the Yachi River Bridge: 1️⃣Yachi River Bridge is the fifth largest bridge in the world 2️⃣The main span is 800 meters and the total length is 1,240 meters. It is the world's largest span steel truss cable-stayed bridge and the world's largest cable-stayed bridge in mountainous areas 3️⃣The entire bridge has a total of 192 cable-stayed cables, with cable lengths ranging from 103 to 425 meters and a maximum cable weight of 43 tons 4️⃣The single-sided network coverage distance reaches 1,200 meters, and the signal is 📶

The Wujiang River Source Hundred-Mile Gallery is truly a stunning natural wonder! A boat trip along the emerald green river, flanked by towering peaks and rugged mountains, feels like stepping into a flowing landscape painting. The crystal-clear water reflects the blue sky, white clouds, and layered karst landforms, making every snapshot a masterpiece. Along the way, you'll see Miao villages and cliffside walkways, adding a touch of cultural charm and adventure. The boat trip is at a moderate pace, lasting approximately 2-3 hours, so you won't feel tired. It's recommended to go on a sunny day when the sunlight sparkles on the river, creating a more breathtaking visual experience. The scenic area's services are quite comprehensive, with clear dock signage and orderly boarding and disembarking. The only minor drawback is that the surrounding facilities are still under development, and there aren't many dining options. It's advisable to bring your own snacks and water. Overall, this is an excellent place to escape the crowds and experience the tranquil beauty of nature, well worth a visit! Highly recommended for those who enjoy natural scenery and photography.

The Two Rivers Ferry is absolutely fantastic! The 15 yuan ticket is incredibly cost-effective! Here's a great route for families with kids: After visiting Jiefangbei and Kuixinglou, see Hongyadong during the day. If you're traveling with a 6-year-old and don't want to brave the crowds at Hongyadong at night, the stilted buildings during the day are just as beautiful. Afterward, take the Two Rivers Ferry to Danzishi, disembark, and explore Danzishi Old Street, Nanbin Road, and Xiahaoli. Then, take the light rail/bus or taxi back. The whole route is smooth and relaxing. The boat ride is novel and fun, and the kids especially loved it, remaining enthusiastic about exploring the shopping streets afterwards. At the pier, there's a large bowl of freshly cut watermelon for 10 yuan – watch it being cut right in front of you! It's sweet and refreshing. I highly recommend this route for families!

A regular ticket is sufficient, as you'll find that there's simply not enough time to visit the paid attractions if you go at midday. Also, you must bring a film camera next to the Fast sign. It must be a battery-free film camera with manual metering. If possible, bring your own film, as film cameras at the attraction aren't cheap—300 yuan for 36 exposures.

My stay in Chongqing was fantastic! The hotel boasts a superb location, within walking distance of Eling No. 2 Factory and Liziba Viewpoint, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The rooms were spotless and bright, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the amenities were complete. The free parking was a great convenience for travelers with cars. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in quick and easy, and patiently answering all my questions. Overall, it offered excellent value for money and is a top choice for any trip. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time.

As the spotlight fell, red silk billowed from both sides of the stage, instantly enveloping the entire theater in a profound sense of history. When the actors playing revolutionaries, armed with wooden rifles, charged forward amidst the smoke and fire, an elderly man in the front row quietly wiped a tear from his eye. From the gunshots by the river, to that declaration that transcends over seventy years, every shout resonated with the audience's hearts. In the final scene, as the national flag was unfurled, the entire theater spontaneously erupted in applause. That deafening roar wasn't stage sound effects; it was the most direct empathy from everyone present for that groundbreaking era. This wasn't a distant story confined to books; it was the real, tangible footsteps of our forefathers.

I arrived 5 minutes early, and the lecturer, Keju, immediately started and continued until 3:05 PM without a break. He covered everything from ancient Guizhou to Qing Dynasty Guizhou, and the lecture was quite comprehensive. It seemed that Keju really enjoys reading and has a rich knowledge base. He was also quite experienced in interacting with children, and the kids listened with great interest. It was very good.
