Joo Chiat Road is renowned for its rows of vibrant Peranakan shophouses, a staple for any Instagram feed. However, my attention was caught by a slightly lopsided stone lion head perched beneath the eaves of these beautiful structures. At a glance, it seems like a simple ornament, but a closer look reveals a slight lean to the left and a small chip near its mouth where the cement has crumbled over time. I stumbled upon this sight during an early morning stroll. Before the tourist crowds arrived, the street was hushed, bathed in the soft glow of the dawn as the tilted lion cast a long, lingering shadow. While guidebooks delve into the history and architecture of this road, they overlook these minor "imperfections." To me, however, this tilted lion captures the authentic soul of the place. It isn't a pristine, polished tourist attraction; it’s a "living building," weathered by time and rain, aging alongside the community. As a symbol of Singapore, this lion—with its slightly melancholy expression—evokes the hidden history behind the city's rapid growth. Passersby, glued to their phones, never notice it. That’s why I treasure this "unseen perspective." If you ever find yourself on Joo Chiat Road, I encourage you to look beyond the colorful facades. You’ll find small stories and memories etched into the architecture. That tilted lion is still there, quietly keeping watch over the street.

I recently visited Rye, an incredibly charming town about a 2-hour drive from London—it's a paradise for anyone who loves antiques and home decor. You can also get there by train with a quick transfer. The town of Rye is compact and easily walkable. I’d definitely recommend wearing sneakers, though, as there are plenty of cobblestone streets and slopes. For lunch, I went to a restaurant called The Fig, which has a 4.7 Google rating. The plating was beautiful and the food was delicious, but the two dishes I happened to order were both surprisingly spicy! I browsed through a few interesting boutiques and picked up some lovely antique plates. I headed home already dreaming of staying overnight next time. It’s definitely a place I’d love to visit again.

🇬🇧 Rye, located in East Sussex, England, is my hidden medieval castle town near London! It’s like a scene straight out of a fairy tale book~✨ 🏰 This hilltop town nestled in the countryside was once a bustling coastal port! 🌊 As the coastline gradually receded over time, it has perfectly preserved the most authentic medieval charm~ The town is super mini, and you can explore it all day on foot! ⛪️ Must-visit landmark: St. Mary’s Church 👉 The church tower offers unbeatable views! You can enjoy a 360-degree panorama of the fairy-tale town: layers of red-tiled roofs, the yellow-green Romney Marsh in the distance, and on clear days, you can even see the outline of the English Channel! 🌅 🍻 Legendary pub: Mermaid Inn This antique pub dating back to 1420 is full of stories! It was once a secret base for the infamous smugglers 🤫 It still retains its medieval fireplace and oak beams and is said to be one of the most "haunted" pubs in England 👻 Brave friends must come and have a drink! 🥂 🏯 Historical exploration: · The white-walled, red-tiled building with the "Ypres Castle" sign is one of the oldest pubs in town · Next to it, the Ypres Tower, built in 1249, was once a fortress defending against French invasions and is now transformed into the Rye Museum · You can see medieval prison cells, coastal defense exhibits, and other historical artifacts 🏛️ 💖 There’s no commercialized atmosphere here, only cobblestone streets, medieval timber-framed houses, and a lazy passage of time~ Perfect for those wanting to escape the city’s hustle and bustle! ✨ 📸 Photo tips: · The panoramic view from the church tower is stunning · Every street corner in town is a vintage photo spot · Rainy days add even more medieval ambiance!

The Cobbles Tea Room, located in the charming town of Rye, is an award-winning English tea house renowned for its scones and cream tea. We tried both during our visit, and they were truly delightful, though slightly on the pricier side. The scones were wonderfully soft and fluffy, perfectly paired with clotted cream and raspberry jam—absolutely delicious! The cream tea was also a favorite of mine, with its rich, creamy, and aromatic flavor. The ambiance of the tea room made the experience even more enjoyable, as the establishment is beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and retains many traditional royal English tea house furnishings and utensils. Even the teapots were exquisitely designed, adding a touch of elegance. There's also a small courtyard garden within the restaurant, making it a perfect spot to relax while visiting Rye. Just remember not to arrive too late, as they close at 5 PM. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming; we arrived around 4:30 PM, and they still allowed us to take our time enjoying the tea and snapping photos without rushing us. It was a truly delightful experience.

The town of Rye is located in the southeast of England, only 1 hour away by train from central London, formerly a prosperous fishing village, preserved a large number of medieval buildings and houses, walk the cobbled streets, see the sea, also walk up the hill to view the ruins of the medieval castle, short rooms Built around a small hillside, the house is a great place for many Londoners to come and relax on holiday, the small village is not big, but very quiet and clean, and there are many warm bed and breakfast old teahouses and restaurants, galleries and antique shops to come for an English afternoon tea or walk around and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere #September Good Places 2025 #rye

Quah8The British Museum was definitely a highlight of my London trip. It was well worth spending a whole afternoon there, and I feel like I'd go back again! A special thank you to my guide today, Diana; she was professional, reliable, and her explanations were engaging, patient, and entertaining, adding a wonderful surprise to my museum visit.
小米粒儿7 sisters came here by bus nice views off the cliffs vibes are amazing so many adventurous exploring friendly people about definitely worth going to remember very windy bring a jacket

PetyongAfter visiting Windsor Castle and Chatsworth House (Darcy Estate), we then visited Buckingham Palace. If you could only visit one palace in the UK, it would have to be Buckingham Palace. Photography is not allowed inside the royal palaces, as is the case with Windsor Castle, so we could focus on the guided tour. The gift shop after the Buckingham Palace tour has some limited-edition items available only there, making great souvenirs. I bought a Buckingham Palace + Royal Horse Stables combo ticket. The product page stated that visiting the Royal Horse Stables allowed direct entry to Buckingham Palace, but this wasn't actually the case. The State Rooms and the Royal Horse Stables are exchanged at two separate locations, not far apart. However, the ticket exchange and verification are handled by different people, and the verification personnel strictly adhere to the reserved time. The Royal Horse Stables houses the Golden Carriage used exclusively for coronation ceremonies, which is worth seeing; there are also carriages for tourists to ride in and take photos.
lilianna0309This is a must-see attraction in London. The architecture itself and its historical and cultural value are both important. After seeing so many royal coffins, you can't even remember who's who. The tombstones of Darwin and Hawking are also a must-see.
M14***49Getting from London to Windsor by bus (702 green line) is very convenient, even without taking the train. Photography is prohibited inside the church and castle. Seeing Queen Mary's Toy House reminded me of the inspiration for many miniature landscape designs in China. I personally think it's well worth a visit. Buying tickets is also very convenient. If you want to see the Changing of the Guard ceremony, enter the castle around 1 PM to find a good spot.
Elaine328The must-see exhibit is the Royal Jewels exhibition. A basic understanding of British history is recommended for a truly worthwhile visit. From here, you can see Tower Bridge and The Shard. It's easily accessible by the Underground.
