Mare Monte

Although the hotel is a beautiful location , the people who take care of it are disrespectful” and do not respect privacy. One of the hostess entered our room without knocking first while two of us where showering, she also proceeded on entering the other group's room to take pictures of the mess they had made (not damage but their stuff was all over their place) whilst they were sleeping. Furthermore we respected the silent hours given by the rules which stated you need to be quiet from 12-7am. During those hours we were not even at the hotel however they did not believe that we were not the ones making noice . To continue they used slurs towards us telling us to ”shut the **** up” , that we are children and to go to our rooms , we are adults and we were responsible and respected the rules. The hotel had no working airco, shower door was broken , we were cussed out for asking beach towels and yelled up for quietly sitting at our porch. Lastly although the description said there was breakfast, the ladies proceeded on telling us it’s not for us even though we already payed for it.Overall a horrible experience I DO NOT recommend this hotel , we have 20 people who would agree with us. There are so many other beautiful hotels with actual decency towards its clients, I brought my friends here as a way to show them the beauties of greece, and they ended up having the worst possible experience. Do not go to this hotel , For further evidence if needed i have a video of the hostesst screaming at 3am to anothe group.
Skala Sunset Hotel and Spa
4.2/511 Reviews
My mother arrived here for a short break and we were overwhelmed from the moment we stepped off the ferry from Mykonos (around a 2 hour journey €100 return business class) Kyriakos, the owner was there waiting for us and took us on the short journey to the hotel in a minibus wearing a mask so felt Covid safe. When we arrived, the hotel is on a hill so had the most spectacular view! I would go as far as to say it would rival the views of Santorini although this was in the view anyway!! The buildings are the glorious white washed and blue painted you would expect to see in traditional Greek villages and with the beautiful pink flowers all over. We had beautiful wilderness behind us and sometimes visited by the couple of nearby horses. The room was larger than expected, a large double bed and single bed with very comfortable memory foam mattresses, clean bedding and extra blankets if required. The bathroom was very plush by all standards with Skala branded soaps. The swimming pool- my goodness! We had the whole plane to ourselves as we were the last guests of the season but you can imagine when the pool bar is open and all the greek nights going on, would be great fun. However, we had the loungers and four posters to ourselves and felt very VIP! Breakfast was included and we ate at the nearby Mills restaurant run by the family. All wearing masks for service, food from grill and more traditional (you must try the rabbit stifado!) and very reasonable with free local honey and cinnamon raki and complimentary mini ice creams. The hospitality and warmth shown by this family is second to none and we will be booking for next year. We might even have time for some spa time, also provided. It is on a hill, so heels not recommended. The town has lots to do and was still relatively busy. From start to finish, perfect. Efharisto poli!
Yialos Ios Hotel

Yialos Ios Hotel was a gorgeous oasis. The family staff are friendly and promptly deal with any issue. The location is perfect- just a short walk from port, close to many restaurants, a beach and one minute from the bus stop that takes you to the Chora or to another of Ios' wonderful beaches (def suggest a trip to Myloptas for 4 euro round trip) The daily buffet breakfast is a feast- with your english breakfast staples such as scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast and your mediterranean items such as feta and ham and hard-boiled eggs. There was always fruit and fresh yogurt with a sort of topping and I definitely can't forget to mention the delicious homemade Greek treats. My son and I stayed in one of their smaller rooms. It was comfortable and clean. I had friends stay in larger rooms, one even had an outdoor Jacuzzi so they can accommodate different budget levels and you still feel like you're being spoiled. The pool area has cabanas and a service bar all day with food and delicious drinks. The pool was always clean and given the heat while we were there, it was our favorite place to be. I would highly recommend staying here! (I have lovely photos but having issues with my phone 😩)
Galaxy Hotel

I stayed for 5 nights Nice people beautiful pool The rooms don’t work as limited space snd not utilised well . A fridge no glasses I had two issues a window in bathroom door when you entered swung and hit you in the face was very very dangerous The hosts are regularly not available, but did sort it when I asked also they sorted the dryer hanging on the wall which was falling off !! Certainly the door should never have been like that, the cleaner should of spotted it as was soo dangerous !! The key weighed a ton a huge lump of metal but you couldn’t leave it as they might be closed I moved to another place with amazing hosts great pool, bigger room, a great location for half the price I paid at Galaxy so that was overpriced relatively My error in original choice
Relux Ios Hotel
4.6/553 Reviews
Hotel Relux is a lovely clean, modern hotel in a fantastic location, close to all the restaurants and only a 3 minute walk to the port where all the ferries arrive. All the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious with pool and Sea views. The wet room was spacious too with clean towels everyday and shampoo and body wash supplied. Breakfast was plentiful with many options. The pool area was clean and well looked after. It was a lovely pool but it had no shallow end, so difficult for some who might not be confident in the water or non swimmers. Pool towels are supplied. The hotel had a relaxing open air bar area at the front where you could relax and watch the world go by. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would love to return next year to enjoy this wonderful friendly island.
Far Out Hotel & Spa
4.3/515 Reviews
The first night was very nice. We were allowed to check in early and had a beautiful room with a beautiful view. The room number was 26. First night was perfect, the room was clean and everything was great, the air conditioning unit worked beautifully. On the second night, we arrived to our room at 4:30 AM, exhausted, to find our bedroom infested with ants. Not a few ants on the floor, but everywhereeee on our bed and on and under our pillows 🤢. I would understand if we had open food in our room, but we did not. We called reception and someone came to see our room and saw how bad it was (you could see the look of despair on his face) and changed us to room 15. Upon going into that room, there were ants everywhere on the floor. We had to make the decision: sleep in a bed infested with ants, or sleep in a room with ants on the floor as there was apparently no other clean rooms available (which is very surprising as it was low season and most of the rooms were empty (facts as we could see at the reception which rooms were available and which rooms weren’t since you could see the keys)) We had no choice but to take the room with ants on the floor, air conditioning barely worked, stains on the bed and garbage from the previous person. It was not fun waking up in the morning with ants on our arms, especially when I hate and am absolutely disgusted with ants. At 10am we were told a new room would be ready for us and that we would have an upgraded and better room. We got room 5, which yes was beautiful and yes was an upgrade from room 15, but not an upgrade from room 26, as it was the same room, and the air conditioning was not working well. Unfortunately, the service and cleanliness declined throughout our stay. I have reached out to the hotel numerous times and keep getting ignored. It’s been 2 weeks and am still waiting for the hotel to respond back. As someone who has worked in the hotel industry for 5 years, never have we EVER ignored a client, especially when they’ve had a bad experience. Between that and Georgina’s passive-aggressive attitude, we are beyond disappointed. This is such a shame as day 1 was fabulous. Also, if you wake up passed 9AM, expect to have no breakfast. Definitely great views, but if you experience anything bad, you won’t get it resolved. Hoping to hear from the hotel at some point…
