I arrived at Castillo in the early evening of October 2nd 2023 as a solo traveller. Having left home some 8 hours previously, I felt tired , hungry , and thirsty and was therefore looking forward to being welcomed to my apartment quickly and efficiently as a holidaymaker. Instead I found myself face to face with a surly and charmless young man who ran through the check in procedure in a bored and disinterested fashion before thrusting a grainy and badly photocopied map into my hand in order to find my apartment myself amongst hundreds of similar white bungalows in the complex At this point I might add I’m the only traveller checking in at that point. Some 45 minutes later I find my apartment after walking round the complex umpteen times , if the check in guy had removed himself from behind the desk and simply pointed to a gate 50 yards up the road all this could have been avoided. The apartment was tired looking , sagging curtains , broken sofa bed , the main beds were uncomfortable metal frame affairs with a mismatched wooden headboard jammed up between them and the walls No air con , simply antiquated ceiling fans/lights which were hard to figure out to keep running without the lights on. Kitchenette appallingly equipped . Something scuttles when I open a cupboard Blocked drains emitting foul odours in the bathroom The roads around the complex are shocking , featuring broken manhole covers , broken electrical boxes , discarded rubbish lying around , and oh watch out for cars randomly crossing your path without warning from the strange little mini roundabouts which allow cars to zoom in front of people in a pedestrian zone. Also beware the electric scooters hacking around everywhere I think I had 3 room service visits in a fortnight , and despite paying for late checkout on my last day I then had a cleaner wondering why I was still there at 12 , I had to google the words paid late check out to get rid of her , obviously someone hadn’t done their job! Finally if you come here and are not particularly fit , it’s approximately 1 1/4 miles to the nearest beach , despite saying beach resort and a steep uphill climb on the return I’m sure Castillo will give the standard reply to this review , but you need to revamp your rooms , employ staff that are good with people , repair your roads , look after your grounds properly , including using the irrigation system in order to avoid the eyesore of dead plants everywhere, last but not least some general information given to guests and proper signage around the place would greatly help!

The restaurant has been renamed and revamped. The gym is brilliant and the air conditioning was very welcome by the end of my workout. The wicker furniture on the Ocean Breeze Terrace needs replacing but does not detract from the overall experience. Some of the entertainment on the Ocean Breeze leaves a lot to be desired as mentioned by a lot of our family and friends. The gardens were the perfect place to hold our Vow Renewal Ceremony and the staff were utterly brilliant, friendly and welcoming. We couldn't have asked for a better venue for our Vow Renewal or a better holiday. Many of our guests were crying when they had to go home. The pool is inviting and the pool activities were great to watch and take part in.

Apartment is very comfortable room, with balcony and table, indoor table, all kitchen comfort. Family is done almost every day. Very clean, very friendly staff, including at the reception. We were next to the restaurant on the floor, so a little noise in the evening, but next to enjoy the animations. The residence is well placed to walk in the city, car parked outside at a maximum of 5 minutes in adjacent streets. the staff explains how to go there ... Very happy with our stay.

We booked this for a 7 night stay via ***********. It was selected as was in a convenient location for our needs. There are positives and negatives: Positives: ＞ Polite, knowledgeable and friendly reception team available 24/7. ＞ Clean room and common areas ＞ Cleaners in alternate days, (albeit early) - so we put the ”Do not Disturb”notice on the door. ＞ Large, comfortable bed ＞ Excellent shower, plenty of hot water. ＞ Air conditioning (but we did not need to use it). ＞ Good kitchen facilities, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee machine, kettle. Dishcloth, washing up rush and the towel supplied. Negatves:

Based in a fantastic location. Short walk to beach, bus station, restaurants and supermarket and slightly longer walk to port, town and Loro Park (zoo). Our room was one of the older ones on 6th floor, so we had a fantastic view but it could have done with a makeover. The hob by the side of the sink took up so much space you had very little room to put cups, plates etc after washing them. The microwave was placed in the living area where the tv used to be as the kitchen is too small for it to go anywhere else and the tv was stuck between the living and bedroom areas, so you couldn't really watch it. Luckily we didn't want to. We found out towards the end of our stay that some rooms had been modernised and ours was one of the old ones. Whilst it was tired, the view from the balcony was good and worth sitting out on morning and evenings. Staff were great. Soriah on reception was a mine of information and really helpful. We didn't eat in the hotel, so can't comment on that. Pool area was fine. Good for sunbathing and rooftop views. Small but clean pool. The lobby, downstairs bar and restaurant have all been recently renovated. They are really good - totally unlike the old pictures that are showing on here. I feel we got what we paid for, but to be honest, we could have benefited from some information. There was nothing anywhere saying when the cleaner came in and when towels would be changed and no information on wifi code. Of course, go to reception and they will tell you/give you towels if needed, but it would have been good to have that information in the room. For the price I would definitely recommend it, but do check in advance which room you are booked into.

Just off the tourist streets so quieter but not far to walk to be in the hub Toilet clean Room clean Someone walking up and down to toilet regularly from about 1am then washed pans for about 15mins at 2am. Also up again running water for what seemed like ages at 4am I didn’t have earplugs so got no sleep . Appalling behaviour . Light from hall / toilet brightens room and curtain not big enough to cover window .

The bathroom looked very new and clean. The beds were so comfortable I slept better here than at home. Noise levels were fine in our room. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The location is exceptional. After reading reviews here I really was dreading my stay but the only very small things were that hotplate was fairly tired and the numbers had rubbed off, which didn't hinder anything, and there was building work on a couple of days that was out of the hotels control and didn't matter anyway as we were out most of the day. I truly cannot believe how lovely it was especially for the budget I will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend.

The service was excellent, both in reception and restaurant, but the services in the facility were a bit unfavorable in the sense that personally, as I was with my pregnant wife, I had a room on the lowest floor the first day, everything was fine because there is an elevator, but The rest of the days they had them out of service, which in a place like that I think can't go wrong. The gym was a bit poor and the only machine that it had did not work well, the impossible parking on the second day was that I was able to get one and pay it to the hotel, when you go to make a reservation you will see a buffet breakfast option for €4 that does not exist lol. The rest all good. I think that services such as the elevator should be guaranteed to keep them in optimal conditions. For the rest all good.

This hotel is absolutely suitable for meeting basic needs. If you want full luxury services, you should look elsewhere. The staff is very kind and helpful. I cannot form an opinion about the restaurant, as I did not use this service. That is all.

Kitchenette appallingly equipped . Something scuttles when I open a cupboard Blocked drains emitting foul odours in the bathroom The roads around the complex are shocking , featuring broken manhole covers , broken electrical boxes , discarded rubbish lying around , and oh watch out for cars randomly crossing your path without warning from the strange little mini roundabouts which allow cars to zoom in front of people in a pedestrian zone. Also beware the electric scooters hacking around everywhere I think I had 3 room service visits in a fortnight , and despite paying for late checkout on my last day I then had a cleaner wondering why I was still there at 12 , I had to google the words paid late check out to get rid of her , obviously someone hadn’t done their job! Finally if you come here and are not particularly fit , it’s approximately 1 1/4 miles to the nearest beach , despite saying beach resort and a steep uphill climb on the return I’m sure Castillo will give the standard reply to this review , but you need to revamp your rooms , employ staff that are good with people , repair your roads , look after your grounds properly , including using the irrigation system in order to avoid the eyesore of dead plants everywhere, last but not least some general information given to guests and proper signage around the place would greatly help!

These apartments are in a great location near the beach, plenty of good restaurants in the area and a supermarket a couple of minutes walk up the road. The apartment was clean and modern, a bit smaller than I expected but comfortable. However there was two problems with the apartment, the sound proofing is rubbish and there was a distinct smell of stale smoke, smoking on the balcony with the doors open will easily allow the smoke to enter the apartment. There was a great combination shower with plenty hot water and the staff were very helpful.

Extremely welcoming staff and clean reception area, every member of staff took the time to greet us and smile! The decor is well considered and provides a luxury feel. We were offered a complimentary coffee whilst we waited for our room to be ready. The room has everything you need and we had a lovely view of the Arrecife coast. The beds were comfortable as were the other amenities with bonus points for a great bathroom and powerful shower! Towards the evening we spent time on the top floor in the hotels 'Solarium' which featured a hot tub and more glorious views of the Arrecife coast. We would not hesitate to book again as we found our stay to represent excellent value!

The apartment is very well located, especially if you are going to carnavals, because in the same square the scene where the most significant events of these parties are held. The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable. You have to shower mili style and one or the morning and anotherfor the night, because I already tell you that it doesn't give anything. Um 15 Uhr am Hotel angekommen und die Rezeption war geschlossen. Eine Notiz mit einer Notfall Telefonnummer an der Tür. Neue Gäste sind also ein Notfall! Eine glatte Unverschämtheit gegenüber dem Gast. Sowas geht garnicht und habe ich in meinem ganzen Leben noch nie erlebt. Wir hatten ja gebucht und man wusste das wir kommen. Außerdem stand in der Beschreibung das die Rezeption bis 21 Uhr besetzt ist. Später haben wir festgestellt das oft jemand da war wenn Spanier außerhalb der Rezeptionszeiten einscheckten. Nach telefonieren mit der Reiseleitung konnten wir eine Stunde später ins Zimmer. Check in erst ab 13 Uhr möglich, aber um 14 Uhr geht das Personal nach Hause. Also nur eine Stunde Zeit um einzuchecken, genau zwischen 13 und 14 Uhr. Check out ist übrigens 11 Uhr und wer später abgeholt wird muss im freien auf seinen Transfer warten. Die Anlage nennt sich Hotel ist aber nur eine Appartement Anlage, denn es gibt nicht mal ein Restaurant und dann noch die beschränkte Zeit zum einchecken. Im Zimmer war dann der Fußboden nicht gewischt und meine Frau fegte ein Kehrblech mit Sand und Flusen zusammen. Ingesamt muss man aber sagen das die Zimmer immer gereinigt wurden. Die Küchenzeile ist groß, mit vielen leeren Schränken, da äußerst sparsam bestückt. Nur das allernotwendigste an Geschier, sodass Kochen zur Herausforderung wurde. Mini 3 Tassen Kaffeemaschine. Die Apar**ents sind groß und geräumig. Apar**ents die man bucht sind nicht die, die man auf den Fotos sieht, denn die günstigen Zimmer sind alle im Untergeschoß und haben keinerlei Aussicht. Ich wollte ein Stockwerk höher ziehen. Sonst exakt das gleiche Apar**ent über meinem Apar**ent, nur ein Stockwerk höher. Aber für 550€ Aufpreis die man haben wollte war mir das doch zu teuer. Der Pool erscheint auf den Fotos riesig, ist aber in Wirklichkeit recht klein. Zumal die Hälfte gerade mal einen halben Meter tief ist. 6 harte Plastikliegen ohne Auflage gibt es am Pool. Keine Sonnenschirme am Pool. Das WLAN ist aus der Steinzeit und eine einzige Katastrophe. Mal geht es 5 Minuten so einigermaßen, aber meistens funktioniert es nicht. Sowas als Internetzugang zu bezeichnen ist eine Frechheit. Wenn man das reklamiert, wird sich rausgeredet und man verweist auf schlechtes Internet an dem man nicht schuld ist. Es kommt aber oft garkeine WLAN Verbindung zustande. Wenn ich gewusst hätte das das Hotel keinen Internet Zugang hat, hätte ich es nicht gebucht. Unser Fazit ist, der Gast ist hier ein notwendiges Übel, das man ertragen muss um Geld zu verdienen. Das Putzpersonal und auch die Dame an der Rezeption waren schon freundlich und hilfsbereit.

I had two persons room in the northern corner of the building. The room is spacious with large bathroom and a corridor and built-in wardrobe. The hotel is nicely decorated and well maintained. The balcony was towards south-east, not very large with a table and two chairs. But as wind in El Medano is always strong and comes from the east it was not comfortable to use it, also WiFi doesn't work on the balcony and part of the room away from the corridor. There room has a fridge and electronic safety box, and TV. There are two electric sockets next to the beds, but unfortunately only one socket next to the table, which is already engaged by the fridge. The hotel staff speaks well English and is friendly. One can access the hotel either with electronic card or with PIN code of the main door and your room. The PINs are sent by email, so I suppose late arrival after 19.00, when reception closes, is possible. The hotel is located almost in the middle of El Medano, next to the only shopping center of the city featuring SuperDino and quite noisy bar. There is also smaller Supermercado Guai in 200 m. But take into accound El Medano is a very small town 1 km in diameter, so everything is in walking distance. El Medano beach is just in 300 m from the hotel. All beaches in El Medano and to the east of it are open for the wind. So they are mostly occupied by the surfers and kite-surfers. There is a small part of El Medano beach protected by the mole. 3 km to the west there is La Tejita beach, which is covered from the wind by the Montaña Roja, also offering great views over the area. There is buses 411 and 408 from El Medano going to San Isidro, where you can change to bus to the Southern Airport, other directions or do more substantial shopping in Mercadona, Lidl or HiperDino. San Isidro bus station has a machine for topping up Ten+ bus cards. In the evining people gather at Plaza del Medano, which is quite vibrant place taking into account the town is tiny comparing to Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas.

Just spent 10days here for birthday, 1st impressions it's clean, but very dated and in need of modernisation. Check in was quick and staff very friendly and helpful. Room tired and beds were very hard, but on mentioning it to rep I was given mattress toppers straight away. Rooms cleaned regular. Food was not bad and refreshed regular as opposed to sitting there all night, choice was limited but enough get by, it's after all apartments so many cater themselves hence dining room small.. we found food to be pleasant. No entertainment or games room, is a pool table near pool in the dark, and a reading room that's never used and could be a great game room. Reception area isn't welcoming or comfy or appropriate for sitting, just quirky, would be lovely area to sit and relax or read with z drink if had nice sofas etc, wS bit chilly sit near bar, hence was rarely used.. Extra charges apply in your stay like pool side lounger mattresses or umbrella, and although offer WiFi it's only at bar area so if don't have data you need to purchase.. safe isn't in room but on ground floor area, didn't want to be going up and down stairs so didn't use, I like in the room.. Hotel is good location with bus station and supermarket and not far to front,, Add up pros and cons it's a good hotel for price

The hotel is located in a small town about 10 minutes drive from the airport and is basically a British tourist. The facilities in the room are very complete, the hotel also has a swimming pool, the front desk service is very warm, you can also help to reserve the terrain. However, it is necessary to pay attention to the prepayment with a bank card, and does not support the cash deposit.

Sceptical from reading others reviews but honestly a really good hotel, pool was small but never had a problem getting a sunbed at different times of the days, life guard on duty at all times, cheap vending machine was a life saver when we arrived really late at night, location is close to a supermarket, beautiful views from the rooftop terrace. The terrace can provide food and drinks Wednesday to Sunday all day , the music was amazing on the terrace and if you’re into parties, make sure you go on Saturday nights because wow. Locals in the area are lovely. The hotel is located 5-10 minute walk from the music square and other places to eat and drink. We had a small room so we made our space work, only downfall was the size of the shower, just enough room to stand let alone lather some soap on your legs wouldn’t say the decor was dated but could maybe do with some tweaking from maintenance (shower handle was a bit delicate & missing a door frame in bed room) but honestly would recommend staying here, it’s clean, staff are friendly. We couldn’t comment on the breakfast as we didn’t have any here. Drinks are reasonably priced at the roof top aswell if anyone is wondering. For the price we paid we couldn’t complain, thank you to all the staff❤️

We booked this hotel as it was cheap. I wasn't expecting anything fancy if I was I most certainly wouldn't have booked this. I was concerned by some of the reviews before going because we had booked the basic room. I had asked for an upstairs apartment and when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised as it was better than I was expecting. We were out all day and only used the apartment to sleep and shower. Ok the apartment is a bit dated but it was a good size. It only had 2 single beds but we pushed them together. We didn't need any air conditioning so don't worry about not having any. The room was only cleaned once during our stay ( 1 week) but because we were out all the time once was fine. Because we didn't spend much time in the hotel we didn't have much interaction with the staff apart from check in and out, but they were friendly. The location of the hotel was good and it had free parking so we never had to worry about getting a parking space when we came back. If you are looking for a cheap holiday then this hotel is good. If you want a fancy hotel you need to pay more. The photos I have put up were taken on our last day that's why it's not clean.

Just returned from a fantastic week here. The room we had was on the opposite side to pool and reception, which was lovely and peaceful. Didn't spend time at the pool or eat here as we are beach lovers and walk a lot. Reception were friendly, very pleasant and helpful. The bungalow was superb, very clean and spacious. Lovely bathroom with great shower. Patio is huge and we left towels etc out at night with no problem at all. Other guests on our side were friendly, some return year after year. So many different restaurants nearby which we tried. Thai, Indian, Spanish and Mexican. All very good value in my opinion as we spend most of our holidays on Greek Islands. We didn't find it 'typical Brit' as earlier reviews stated. All in all, a lovely resort in lovely accommodation! Would I go back? Definitely be there next January!
