What Is the China Southern Transit Hotel? Free Layover Accommodation Explained

Note: AI-generated image. Only for reference.
The China Southern Transit Hotel program is the airline's hospitality facility for long-haul transiting passengers. If your flight itinerary has a prolonged layover at one of the airline’s designated hub airports, you get a free China Southern layover hotel, a complimentary meal (usually breakfast), and round-trip airport shuttles.
Aimed to enhance traveler comfort, the free layover accommodation allows you to step outside the terminal, shower, sleep in a proper bed and freshen up before the next flight. These transit hotels are outside the airport transit zone. So, you undergo immigration checks, enter China under valid visa rules, and board a shuttle to the hotel.
The transit hotel service is particularly useful for passengers travelling between India and destinations in North America, Europe, Africa or Oceania via Guangzhou. Depending on your itinerary, a connection may involve a same-day or overnight stop.
However, the China Southern Airlines free hotel is not a default or automatic benefit for every passenger with a long layover. The airline has specific eligibility rules, and it generally arranges the hotel via its designated partner network.
So, before you book flights around this benefit, you must verify whether:
- Your connecting flights qualify under the current policy.
- Your transit duration meets the applicable minimum and maximum limits.
- You can reserve accommodation online or must contact the airport transfer counter.
China Southern Transit Hotel Eligibility: Who Qualifies for a Free Layover Hotel
Not every passenger with a layover in China qualifies for a free China Southern transit hotel. Eligibility depends on several factors, including your ticket type, booking class, flight route, layover duration and most importantly, visa requirements (covered in a later section). Here are some rules and regulations to watch out for before expecting a free layover hotel with China Southern.
- Flight Segments and Ticket Numbers: You must book incoming and outgoing flights under the same record locator (PNR) with confirmed seats. The ticket must be issued under China Southern airline code (CZ).
- Layover Duration: The minimum qualifying layover is six hours for most routes. The range is between 6 (inclusive) and 30 (inclusive) hours. For international/regional to international/regional mutual transfer (sixth freedom) flights, the transfer time may be between 6 (inclusive) and 240 (inclusive) hours. Hotel service is provided for the first night only. (Source - csair.com). Layovers under 6 hours are considered too short for the program. On the other hand, layovers over 48 hours are usually deemed to be a stopover rather than a transit.
- Domestic-to-International or International-to-Domestic Connections: The layover time must typically be between 6 and 30 hours.
- Eligible Booking Classes: On intercontinental routes, classes such as F, J, C, D, I, O, W, S, Y, P, B, M, H, K, U, A, L, Q, E and G qualify. On the other hand, for non-intercontinental routes, you will often be required to hold First Class or Business Class fares, unless you have elite frequent flyer status.
- Qualifying Destination Regions: As of now, China Southern free transit hotel is applicable to only passengers connecting between China Southern hubs and destinations in Europe, Oceania, Americas, Africa, the Middle East, West and Central Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and South Korea.
- Frequent Flyer Status: Sky Pearl Club Platinum, Gold, and Silver members receive enhanced access and upgraded property tiers even when traveling in lower cabin classes.
- Important Points to Remember:
- Standby tickets, airline employee tickets, and unconfirmed waitlisted segments are excluded from free transit accommodation.
- Rules and regulations pertaining to a free layover hotel may change anytime and are governed by the airline. Therefore, you must check your eligibility criteria on the airline's website before planning a layover or expecting a free transit hotel in China with China Southern Airlines.

How to Book the China Southern Transit Hotel Online?

Source: China Southern Airlines Website
China Southern has moved to online transit accommodation in 2024, making the booking process significantly easier and quicker. You can book your China Southern transit hotel in two ways. Let's look at both.
Option 1: Advance Online Booking (Recommended)
- Visit the accommodation portal of China Southern Airlines.
- Sign in with your booking reference (PNR) and last name.
- The system will check eligibility automatically and show available hotels.
- Choose your preferred hotel and confirm the booking.
- Save the confirmation email comprising hotel details and shuttle instructions.
- Print or save the confirmation on your phone to show it during the airport check in.
Note: China Southern online transit hotel booking is up to 72 hours before your first flight departure. Earlier booking may not be possible, as until then, the system wouldn't have loaded your itinerary yet. Online booking is available at Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Shenyang, and Urumqi.
Option 2: Book at the Transit Desk on Arrival
In case online booking wasn't available for your itinerary and you couldn't book your transit hotel in advance, you can request the transit hotel at the China Southern transit desk on arrival at the connection airport.
- Upon arriving at Guangzhou Baiyun (or your connection airport), head to International Transit or Transit Passengers.
- Locate the China Southern transit desk, which is often marked with the airline logo.
- Present your passport, both boarding passes, and your onward flight ticket to the desk representative for an eligibility check and get a hotel assigned, if available.
- After that, follow signs to reach the hotel shuttle pickup area.
- Board the shuttle to your assigned hotel.
Note: Booking online, in advance, is generally recommended to avoid situations such as hotel unavailability during peak travel period such as Chinese public holidays, summer breaks, etc.

The Chimelong Resort in Guangzhou was such a fascinating experience during our recent vacation to China. The theme park was spacious and had a lot of attractions. The colourful daytime parade features lively performers, themed floats and lots of friendly interaction with crowds. There a lots of activities that you can enjoy throughout the day. All of those are considered icing on the cake because nothing compares to the evening grand finale of dazzling fireworks, water fountains, laser lights, drone displays and jet ski stunts set against the lake. It is a breathtaking, Hollywood level spectacle that wraps up your of visit at the theme park perfectly.

When You've Booked Your Transit Hotel in Advance
- Follow International Transit signs after disembarking.
- You don't have to collect your checked baggage, if it was tagged through until your final destination.
- Pass through immigration (visa or 240-hour visa free transit is needed for most passengers who want to exit the airport).
- Locate the China Southern transit hotel shuttle pickup point. The point will be marked in your booking confirmation.
- Enter the shuttle to reach the hotel in 15-30 minutes.
When Requesting the Hotel On Arrival
- Follow the same initial steps as above through immigration.
- Go to the China Southern Airlines counter at Gate 50 on the first floor of T2 terminal's domestic arrival exit, transfer accommodation center.

Do You Need a Visa? Immigration and Visa-Free Transit Rules for a Transit Hotel Stay

Note: AI-generated image. Only for reference.
Currently, Indian passport holders need a visa to enter mainland China even if they have a long airport layover. The visa requirements depend on specific situations.
Situation | Requirement |
International flight connection within 24 hours, remaining in the designated airport transit area | Generally, visa-free |
Leaving the airport during a layover of less than 24 hours | A temporary entry permit from Chinese immigration is required; approval is not guaranteed
|
Staying in China for up to 10 days under the 240-hour visa-free transit scheme | Indian passport holders are not currently eligible under the published nationality list |
Note: Visa regulations may change. You must check the visa regulations applicable in your case to avoid rejection.
Not Eligible? Paid Transit Hotels and Airport Hotels Near Baiyun

Note: AI-generated image. Only for reference.
Just in case you couldn't secure a China Southern Airlines free transit hotel, you can opt for the following.
- Paid Airport-Area Hotels: You can book hotels such as Pullman Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Hotel, or Southern Airline Pearl Hotel, Baiyun
- A City Hotel: If you’re visa-eligible and have 10 or more hours, you can take the Guangzhou metro to travel downtown for a short sightseeing break.
- Stay Airside: If you have a shorter layover, you can stay in the terminal and avoid immigration.

Traveling to Guangzhou this time, I brought a friend along and we stayed at the Jianguo Hotel Guangzhou – it was definitely the right choice! The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient for getting around. It's close to the East Railway Station, which makes sightseeing or transferring transportation hassle-free. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the overall environment is quiet, and the staff are warm, polite, and responsive to any issues. As for the hotel's dining, you absolutely must try the handmade dim sum at the restaurant on the fourth floor. It's authentic Cantonese flavor, freshly made by hand, and tastes great. Sitting there with friends, slowly sipping tea and chatting, creates a wonderful atmosphere. The buffet at the Western restaurant on the second floor also exceeded expectations – a rich variety of dishes, fresh ingredients, and excellent taste.
Everything from dining to accommodation can be conveniently arranged at the hotel. I would choose this place again whether for a business trip or a vacation. If you're visiting near Guangzhou East Railway Station and want to experience authentic Cantonese morning tea, I sincerely recommend this hotel!FromPLN 235

I've stayed at this apartment hotel several times now. Why do I love staying here when I'm in Guangzhou? Purely because the room has a washing machine! Guangzhou is so humid and hot; I just can't feel comfortable if I don't wash my clothes daily, haha. The only downside is that they only provide two bottles of water, which is far too little. I was so thirsty at night 🤣. But the small kitchen and large fridge are great additions.FromPLN 607

Perhaps because the hotel caters to a lot of international guests, the room had a very strong odor. My stay at the Marriott Zhengjia Plaza was absolutely perfect! The hotel's location is excellent, directly connected to Zhengjia Plaza, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient. Teemall and Parc Central are also within walking distance. Check-in at the front desk was efficient and smooth, and the staff were polite and attentive throughout. The concierge proactively helped with luggage, and these thoughtful details made me feel very welcome. The room was spacious and bright, spotlessly clean, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The bathroom had a separate shower and bathtub, and all amenities were well-stocked. The breakfast offered a rich variety of dishes, catering to both Western and Chinese tastes, and the quality was excellent. The heated pool and gym facilities were well-maintained. Overall, the hotel maintains a high standard, making it suitable for both leisure and business travelers. I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Guangzhou. The hotel kindly provided a room upgrade with a stunning city view. Upon entering the room, we were pleasantly surprised and deeply moved by all the thoughtful anniversary details—adorable towel art on the bed, cute teddy bears, and a heartwarming handwritten card.
A huge special thanks to Chloe Li and Zoey Liang from the Sheraton Club. Their warm hospitality, professional attention, and extraordinary care made our honeymoon feel so unique and memorable.

From the moment I stepped through the doors of Baiyun Hotel, I knew this was going to be a special stay. Everything—from the service to the room to the food—was flawless. I honestly cannot find a single thing to complain about.
First Impressions:
The lobby is stunning—elegant, warm, and beautifully lit, with a subtle signature scent that made the whole place feel luxurious. A staff member greeted me by name before I even reached the front desk. Check-in took less than five minutes, and I was offered a welcome drink and a cold towel while I waited.
The Room:
I was upgraded to a Deluxe Suite, and it was incredible. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed, with a separate living area, a huge comfortable bed, and a marble bathroom featuring both a rain shower and a deep soaking tub. The amenities were top-tier, and the turndown service included a small local dessert and a handwritten note. The view from my window was spectacular, especially at sunset.
The Food:
Breakfast was a feast—an extensive buffet with everything from fresh sushi to made-to-order waffles, plus a barista who made a perfect flat white. I also had dinner at the hotel's restaurant, and it was genuinely one of the best meals of my trip. The chef even came out to check on the guests, which was a lovely touch.
The Service:
This is where Baiyun Hotel truly shines. Every single staff member I encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about my experience. The concierge arranged last-minute tickets for me, the housekeeping team remembered I preferred extra pillows, and the front desk followed up to make sure everything was perfect. This stay at the Garden Hotel in Guangzhou, a long-standing platinum five-star hotel in China, truly exceeded expectations. It's been 40 years since its opening, and its enduring charm is evident.
Two days before my arrival, a butler contacted me via phone and WeChat, even proactively booking a table for me at the Lingxuan Pavilion buffet on my check-in day. This proactive service was incredibly thoughtful.
To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive before checking in. Given its long history, I was concerned about outdated facilities and had braced myself for it. However, the reality was far beyond my expectations. The hotel's maintenance is impeccable; both the lobby and the guest rooms are spotlessly clean and tidy, with no hint of wear or age. The front desk staff was exceptionally attentive, confirming my preferred view, orientation, and floor. They also kindly warned me about ongoing subway construction nearby and helped me choose a quieter room, ultimately upgrading my room – a truly delightful surprise.
Stepping into the lobby, I was immediately awestruck by its grand and magnificent space. Two colossal murals adorn the walls: one depicting the Twelve Beauties of Jinling from 'Dream of the Red Chamber' in gilded marble, and the other showcasing Lingnan folk customs. Above, a massive 'Golden Dragon Playing with Pearls' caisson ceiling, crafted from tens of thousands of gold foils, creates a powerful visual impact and serves as the hotel's most iconic Lingnan artistic symbol. The hotel also boasts a 21,000 square meter private garden, featuring dual waterfalls, a red bridge over flowing water, a koi pond, and traditional pavilions – a quintessential Lingnan garden. Walking in, the temperature felt noticeably cooler, and sitting quietly for a while was incredibly serene. The Waterfall Restaurant, nestled by the garden, offers stunning water views from its floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a perfect ambiance for an evening drink or afternoon tea.
The renovated guest rooms feature a classical Lingnan Chinese style, with exquisite details. As it was Mid-Autumn Festival during my stay, the room thoughtfully included mooncakes. The hotel also offers free historical guided tours, where a guide takes you through the hotel's historical corners, recounting its stories. The guide was very friendly and even provided individual recaps for guests who arrived late – a huge plus. Lingnan artistic elements are abundant throughout the hotel, making it a joy to explore. I noticed many international guests, indicating its high global recognition.
Dining had both highs and lows. Lingxuan Pavilion boasts a stunning environment and a high-class interior. The food selection is extensive, and the chef's selected à la carte dishes were of outstanding quality. My only minor disappointment was an incorrect gender on the personalized card; it was also mistaken during a previous phone call, and I was surprised it was still incorrect on the card. However, this is a small detail that doesn't detract from the overall experience. The Liwan Pavilion has a charming Xiguan-style ambiance, but the food quality was average and prices were a bit high. The hotel's lounge offers decent food and an acceptable atmosphere, but the space is a bit small with no views, and the service was quite unnoticeable, making that experience somewhat ordinary.
I've previously stayed at Guangzhou's other two major long-standing hotels: White Swan Hotel and China Hotel. Compared horizontally, while the Garden Hotel's dining might be slightly less refined than the White Swan, its overall experience is superior, especially considering the price point, making it excellent value for money. Its location is also a major advantage, situated in the old city, making it very convenient for exploring local eateries, with the renowned Lai Heen restaurant right next door.
If you're planning a visit to Guangzhou's old city and want to immerse yourself in Lingnan history, culture, and the legacy of a classic five-star hotel, the Garden Hotel comes highly recommended.FromPLN 575

The whole family had a wonderful time! 👍 Additionally, both the dinner and breakfast buffets were extensive, and ordering room service was very convenient. We truly enjoyed our stay, the spa was also very relaxing, and there was even a reptile exhibit for educational fun. It was a perfect trip, and we'll definitely be back~FromPLN 478

The room is quite large and features a balcony. Although the decor feels a bit dated, it is very clean and well-equipped with all the essentials. Both the bed and pillows are extremely comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The shampoo and conditioner are quite nice, and the hairdryer is surprisingly good—it has a pleasant airflow. Bathrobes are provided in the room, which you can wear directly to the hot springs area since it's just a short walk away.
The buffet breakfast is delicious with a huge variety! In addition to Western options, they serve Cantonese dim sum like siu mai, phoenix claws, and pan-fried dumplings, plus eggs fried to order, freshly steamed rice rolls (changfen), and made-to-order noodles. Best of all, the service is fantastic; the staff promptly replenish the food, so you never have to worry about empty trays or a lack of hot dishes if you arrive late. They proactively pour tea as soon as you sit down, and if they notice you using your phone, they'll even bring you a phone stand.
The surroundings are lovely too, featuring a greenway along the river and a country park nearby for hiking.
The hot springs are also amazing! Since access is unlimited, we went once on the day of check-in and again on the day of check-out, trying out all the soaking pools, massage pools, steam rooms, and more. It’s incredible value for money! The staff at the hot springs also provide top-notch service. Besides actively serving tea and water, everyone was exceptionally polite and attentive—we didn't encounter a single staff member slacking off or giving a cold attitude, which is truly rare. The changing and shower facilities at the hot springs are also very well-designed: the shower area is spacious, fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and each locker room provides clean slippers, hangers, and ample storage space, along with a row of vanities for drying hair or applying makeup. I recommend showering directly in the hot spring area, throwing on your bathrobe to grab some snacks in the lounge, and then heading back to your room.FromPLN 413

The room was very spacious, and the courtyard environment was quite pleasant with almost no insects, making evenings quite comfortable.
However, could the bed linen, living room pillowcases, and chair cushions be changed more frequently? They were a bit dirty; I didn't even dare to sit on them.
The hot spring bath was very comfortable; the water could be refilled endlessly without extra charge, which was great. The pool was also quite clean.
The restaurant food was just so-so, nothing special to mention. I'd recommend eating at a nearby farmhouse instead.FromPLN 338

✅ We brought our child for a short weekday family trip to Conghua and chose this Sky Hot Spring Hotel. Overall, it's an all-in-one place for dining, entertainment, and play, making it very convenient for parents with kids.
✅ The hotel's biggest highlight is the Sky Hot Springs on the fourth floor. The views are expansive, overlooking the Liuxi River. There are many public hot spring pools, and a dedicated water play area for children with small slides and a fountain splash pool. Our child went in and didn't want to leave, and the water temperature was perfect for kids. There's also the Dolphin Baby Paradise, where kids can burn off energy indoors.
✅ We stayed in a Deluxe River View Room, which had a private hot spring tub. The room was spacious, the bedding was comfortable, and the private tub on the balcony was just right for two people!FromPLN 310

The dining environment at [Dian Cui Fang · Lingnan Handmade Dim Sum · Tea Ceremony] on the 27th floor of the hotel is excellent! The decor is beautiful and stylish, yet it retains the rich cultural heritage of a hotel with 40 years of history!
I arrived at 7:30 PM and was warmly greeted by a middle-aged (actually quite young) lady in a black suit uniform, Ms. [0573 Hu Baodi]! Other restaurant staff informed me that hotel guests receive a 10% discount on dining, and on Teachers' Day, September 10th, teachers with relevant identification would also receive a discount.
After dinner, I suddenly had a craving for mooncakes... I saw that mooncakes were on the menu... After inquiring with the staff, I learned that mooncakes were selling fast, in high demand, and some varieties were already out of stock... The restaurant manager, upon learning of this, quickly provided a solution – to check the inventory records in the warehouse and help me find the relevant products... It was already 9:15 PM, only 15 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM. The restaurant manager could have easily brushed me off with excuses like ”out of stock” or ”sold out”... However, this manager did not! Instead, she responsibly handled the issue and tried her best to meet the customer's needs! She personally plated the mooncakes, brought cutlery, and thoughtfully said, ”Closing time is 9:30 PM, but we can extend it by 10-15 minutes if needed!” I couldn't help but ask, ”Why is your restaurant service so good?! Won't this delay your off-duty time?” She replied, ”15 minutes is definitely not enough to eat mooncakes... that would be too rushed...” This manager also enthusiastically helped us change to a fresh pot of tea! When she learned that we were hotel guests, the manager said, ”Then you should enjoy your meals and drinks even more at the hotel restaurant!”... ”Coming to the restaurant is like coming home for a meal!” I never expected such a broad mind and high-level perspective from this restaurant manager! This service philosophy of ”leaving convenience for guests and trouble for oneself” is truly touching! What's more, I never expected a hotel restaurant manager to treat hotel guests like family! I believe this restaurant is not only dedicated to serving in-house guests but also provides a ”home away from home” experience for every customer who dines there!
The entire team at [Dian Cui Fang · Lingnan Handmade Dim Sum · Tea Ceremony] on the 27th floor of [Guangzhou Ocean Hotel] provides excellent service! The waiter, waitress, and even the auntie who serves dishes are all very nice! I won't list all the four-digit employee numbers here! I've been so busy praising the restaurant's service... In fact, the dishes and dim sum from the hotel restaurant on the 27th floor are also delicious... Additionally, this restaurant offers unique dishes that cannot be found elsewhere!
Thankful for this encounter! Thank you for meeting such wonderful people! The entire team at the 27th-floor hotel restaurant! I can only say that the leaders of the relevant management team are excellent leaders! They provide a perfect stay experience for in-house guests! Wishing everyone a bright future! Thank you all!FromPLN 278

This has been the most satisfying accommodation experience on a domestic trip so far! When I made the reservation, I noted that it was for a birthday celebration, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared a cake and some small decorations for us. It perfectly reflects Hyatt's attention to detail and warmth. The room offers a clear view of Guangzhou's famous three towers, and the toiletries are Balmain, which are excellent. Beyond the room itself, everyone from the doorman to the front desk staff was incredibly professional and enthusiastic. Next time I visit Guangzhou, the Grand Hyatt will be my only choice.FromPLN 637

The Executive Lounge at Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou is excellent. Aside from one staff member who seemed a bit stern, the other service personnel were all incredibly warm and polite, making us feel right at home. The food inside was also fantastic. Although the cocktails were a bit subpar, the overall experience was still very positive, earning high praise from both myself and my boss.

In the luxury hotel landscape of Guangzhou, Jumeirah has always been a understated player. It doesn't perch atop Guangzhou like Rosewood or Four Seasons, dominating with commanding tower views, nor does it possess the trending ambiance or master designs of Park Hyatt or Mandarin Oriental. Yet, without vying for attention, it consistently garners many excellent reviews.
I found its overall appeal to be comprehensive, warm, and attentive. I booked a unique duplex suite, but upon arrival at 4 PM, no room was immediately available. Instead of making me wait, the front desk immediately offered an upgrade to a two-level higher, Guangzhou Tower View Executive Suite. This initial upgrade was a pleasant surprise. James from the hotel explained their service philosophy to me, and I truly felt that sense of care and service dedication towards guests.
My 03-ending tower view suite was very spacious and well-laid out. The tower view was glimpsed through the gaps of the APM building, offering a somewhat veiled, 'pipa half-hidden' charm compared to a direct view of the Canton Tower. While the room's design isn't as distinct as MO or Rosewood, it prioritizes comfort, featuring wood, lattice, and orange accents that are still very appealing and comfortable.
The service was a highlight. From the doormen, lobby staff, front desk, to housekeeping, everyone was polite and smiling. Guest relations added me on WeChat and responded quickly. When I asked the gym front desk staff about the outdoor pool, they didn't just point the way; they enthusiastically escorted me, taking the elevator, changing floors, and walking through an entire floor to the apartment's outdoor pool.
The harp performance during breakfast was indeed delightful, and while the food variety wasn't extensive, it was exquisite.
Overall, Jumeirah truly surprised me this time, adding another excellent option for my Guangzhou staycations.FromPLN 992

Dear General Manager of China Hotel,
Hello!
Our whole family recently stayed at your hotel, and we had an exceptionally good experience overall. I'm writing this letter specifically to commend your employee, Katrina Lu, and also to sincerely praise the hotel's outstanding performance in all aspects.
The hotel's location is truly exceptional, situated in the city center, making it very convenient for getting around, dining, and shopping. The rooms are spacious and clean, the bedding is comfortable, and the soundproofing is good, ensuring a restful stay. The hotel's cuisine is rich and delicious; both breakfast and other meals were very much to our liking. The overall service was professional and courteous, and we felt meticulous care everywhere.
I especially want to thank Katrina Lu! We were traveling with elderly family members who are a bit slow-moving. After she understood our situation, she was very considerate and proactively helped us apply for a late check-out, so we didn't have to rush and could fully accommodate the seniors' energy levels. She was also very enthusiastic and patiently and thoroughly introduced us to nearby attractions, authentic local cuisine, and transportation routes. The information was practical and down-to-earth, greatly assisting our trip.
Her service wasn't just a mechanical process; it came from a genuine desire to consider the guests' needs, fully demonstrating China Hotel's excellent management standards and staff qualities. Such a dedicated and good employee deserves strong recognition! I kindly request the General Manager to commend Katrina Lu, and if conditions permit, I hope she can be given a bonus as encouragement.
Next time we come to Guangzhou, we will definitely choose China Hotel again and will also recommend it to our friends and family!
Sincerely,
A Satisfied Guest

This trip, I stayed at the Hilton with my mother for her birthday celebration in Guangzhou. The hotel's location is excellent; it's very quick to get to Beijing Road, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and Canton Tower, and there are many local delicacies to enjoy nearby.
The hotel manager thoughtfully arranged birthday decorations for us! Since I had informed the hotel in advance that I was bringing a baby, they also prepared a crib, a separate small pillow, and a blanket for us, which was very heartwarming 🫶. The room was also very quiet, and the high-floor view was fantastic. The room amenities were complete. I especially want to thank the cleaning staff that day; because the little one needed formula, she thoughtfully prepared a lot of purified water. Thank you very, very much!!
The hotel is fully equipped with a pool and gym, both of which I tried out. The pool water was very clean, located on the 8th floor, with separate shallow and deep sections. The view was expansive, and it was very comfortable to swim in the morning. There were also lifeguards on site, and separate spacious and well-equipped changing rooms for men and women.
The gym was on the same floor, and the basic equipment was quite comprehensive. Working out while looking at the city view outside the window was very refreshing.
The hotel's spa experience was also excellent. I chose a 90-minute essential oil massage. The environment was quiet, the masseuse was professional, and I felt very relaxed afterward. I highly recommend it to friends who are tired from their travels or whose bodies are fatigued. It was truly wonderful.FromPLN 484

Highlights: Breathtaking Views and Culinary Delights Above the Clouds
• Unrivaled Skyline Views: Perched atop the 530-meter-high CTF Finance Centre, the hotel features guest rooms on the 96th floor and above, with the lobby situated on the 95th floor. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping, day-to-night vistas of the Pearl River and the Canton Tower (the ”Slim Waist”), widely hailed as the pinnacle of Guangzhou's high-altitude luxury hotels. Notably, the wellness center's swimming pool and the men's locker room also boast direct views of the Canton Tower.
• Consistently Superb Dining: With seven diverse restaurants and bars, the culinary offerings are impressive. The breakfast comes highly recommended—a semi-buffet spread featuring freshly steamed Cantonese dim sum like shrimp dumplings (har gow) and siu mai, alongside premium fresh juices and fruits. On the 107th floor, the Japanese restaurant Kurotaki and the skyline bar Too High are prime spots for evening drinks while soaking in the glittering nightscape.
• Facilities & Design: The aesthetic strikes a flawless balance between contemporary luxury and traditional Lingnan elements. Guest rooms are exceptionally spacious (starting from around 55 sqm even for entry-level categories), equipped with panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows and plush, comfortable bedding. Toiletries and disposable amenities are also generously provided.FromPLN 1,204

Close to the airport, free shuttle every 30 minutes. Despite this, walking access is difficult, recommended way to access the airport is on a vehicle.
Breakfast is diverse and delicious. Rooms are clean. There is a fridge, bathroom robes, umbrella, tea and coffee. There is even suger and sweetener as well. Interesting: glass wall between room and bathroom, it can be covered by a curtain if necessary. Positive: very quiet despite its proximity to the airport, swimming pool for the guests, shuttle bus starts airport transfer at 5 a.m, breakfast starts at 5:30 a.m. Negative: too few electrical sockets, one of two beds had no sockets at all (!), absence of Type C sockets at all.FromPLN 363

Zhujiang New Town/Guangdong Museum Guangzhou|2.25km from city centre
I came here because it's widely regarded as one of the top luxury hotels in Guangzhou, but I ended up quite disappointed. The views are undeniably stunning—perched high above the city—the room decor was lovely, and the Executive Lounge had a decent selection. Unfortunately, everything else was problematic.
First, elevators in modern high-rise hotels are usually very fast, but Four Seasons Guangzhou has the slowest ones I’ve ever experienced. It takes about a second per floor, meaning over a minute just to reach the lobby, which made picking up food deliveries a real hassle.
Second, the service awareness was mediocre at best. Staff rarely responded when I thanked them multiple times. Turndown service didn't arrive until almost 9:00 PM, which is unusually late compared to other hotels. At the time, I was playing mobile games on the toilet with the bathroom door open. I explicitly told the attendant I was using the restroom, yet he walked right into the bathroom anyway, which was extremely awkward. On top of that, the turndown service itself was lackluster—the bed wasn't properly turned down, and the curtains weren't drawn (in the end, I couldn't even figure out how to close them myself). Only the doormen showed decent hospitality.
Third, the bathroom design here has to be the worst I've encountered in any domestic luxury hotel. There’s no power outlet for the hairdryer by the vanity, no trash can in the toilet stall, and the smart toilet kept opening and closing randomly on its own. The bottom of the bathtub was damaged, and there are far too many unlabeled knobs and switches, turning everything into a guessing game. The worst part was the shower: one knob was extremely loose while the other was jammed tight. Even as a grown man using considerable force, I couldn't budge it to turn on the water. In the middle of the night, I had to call an attendant, who had to muscle it open with brute force—no ordinary guest would risk forcing it like that. The drainage was also faulty; soapy water wouldn't drain, making the marble floor dangerously slippery and a major safety hazard. It was a truly dreadful shower experience.
Fourth, the room has an overwhelming number of switches. The master switch only turns off the bedroom lights, so you still have to get out of bed to switch off the walk-in closet and bathroom lights. I couldn't find the curtain controls either, unless they're strictly manual. The wall sockets were loose, the bedside rotary light switches were inconvenient, and the hardware overall is definitely showing its age.
For a hotel that charges 4,000 RMB a night even during the off-season, this bathroom experience is utterly unacceptable. I have never had such a terrible bathroom experience at any five-star hotel in China. I truly hope management takes these issues seriously.FromPLN 1,415

A big shout-out to Guangzhou's excellent management; the order was fantastic! The hotel's location deserves full marks – it's right by subway exit A, super close! 😁 The higher floor offered great views, and the room was spacious. The breakfast had delicious bread and waffles 🧇, tasty freshly made rice noodles, and plenty of fruit. We enjoyed the views while we ate. I booked a standard room and checked in at a room on the 8th floor, but the bathroom had a water leak, so a delivery robot brought a new room card. I was upgraded to a family room with one large and one twin bed, which was spacious and came with a Kung Fu tea set. However, the door was a bit warped from age, making it difficult to engage the safety lock; I had to lift the door frame firmly to align it with the latch. The mattress was on the firmer side, and there was practically no strange odor in the room. As someone with poor sleep quality, I felt I slept okay. I checked out at 12:00 PM, but didn't realize I left a charger behind until 3:30 PM. Since I was in a rush, I contacted the hotel via WeChat and told them to keep it for someone who might need it.
