Horrible! Stay away from this hotel!! Stayed 6/9/2022 through 6/13/2022. GM Kimberly Paxton and Operations Mgr Derek Autobee refused to address noise issues (I got zero response from either of them on the messages and 2 emails I sent during our stay) even though I asked daily to speak to a manager and to be moved. Why would they leave their business cards on the counter if they don’t want to be contacted? Tia at the front desk was not helpful when I asked to be moved to another Holiday Inn Express (she offered to give me the phone number so I could call them myself claiming they are not the same company). Owen repeatedly told us stories and did not follow through on one single thing he promised (new room, points, etc.). On Sunday he was completely confused and kept telling us how tired he was (join the club, we were exhausted!!). There was some kind of kids baseball tournament over the weekend with hundreds of screaming kids at all hours in the hallways. Plus we were situated next to the elevator even though our profile asks to be away from the elevator. One of the vending machines was extremely noisy. Our room key had to be replaced 5 times. The breakfast buffet was ravaged and packed with kids. We saw the kids handling the muffins and danish; touching them and putting them back… ick!! We tried to no avail to find another hotel. Had we been made aware a few months ago that they were hosting an event we would have had plenty of time to find a different hotel but we didn’t know until we walked in and experienced the zoo. The lack of hospitality and courtesy by this staff was a huge disappointment. We traveled a long way for a wedding and our stay was completely ruined. I have recorded some of the noises, any single one of them would be unbearable, imagine the yelling, elevator and vending machine all screaming in symphony…

We had a one night stay here on a 10-day Midwest road trip. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, the breakfast, which was in the connected Old Chicago, was delicious, and the staff was very helpful and courteous. We didn't get to use any of the amenities, but they looked nice as well. The extra charge for our dog was $20/night, which was very reasonable. Since we arrived late after a long drive and some hiking, it was very convenient to have the Old Chicago connected to the hotel, and their patio is also dog friendly.

This was a positive experience. The hotel is undergoing renovation but does seem fully functional. Our room seemed a little quirky in that it was arranged fairly different from most hotel suites. Still it worked very well for us. It was very comfortable. The hotel does not include breakfast but it does have a good restaurant. You can choose between a very good buffet or order off the menu. I was a little hesitant when we first drove up to the hotel. Like many cities, the downtown does feel in decline, but we felt very safe in the hotel and same for our car in the lot. I would stay there again.

We were there for one night. Our reservation had been made by someone else, on their credit card. When we arrived, we were placed in a room with two queen beds that was really cramped. Since the hotel didn't have hardly anyone there, I called the front desk and asked if we could be switched to a single bed room. I was told no, a double had been booked. I even offered to pay the difference for a single room if needed, and again was told no (since the reservation was made by someone else). This seemed like a simple request, and the hotel had few people in it. I was very respectful and didn't think it was an unreasonable request, but the staff clearly didn't want to deal with it. Overall, the facility is dated but we found it to be clean and in a convenient location.

My wife and I are over from Scotland visiting our daughter and we all stayed here while visiting Galena. The hotel is in a convenient location for shops and restaurants and for travelling to Galena. It is well maintained and quiet with a nice pool, hot tub and fitness room. Special mention must be made of Tanisha who was always helpful and set up and serviced our King Suite in a very customer focused manner and, importantly, always with a smile on her face. She is definitely an asset to both the hotel and Hilton.
