Dinner was laid-back, had a window side seat that allowed me to enjoy the city glitter below. My stay here was at a fraction of another Beppu hotel on this trip, in many ways I enjoyed this place more and would not hesitate to come back.

They have breakfast here, because of COVID, it was not buffet style, but the trays were nice and the food was great. The rooms were perfect, they were modern, spacious, and had everything we needed, plus the bed was comfortable. Overall, we had a great stay here.

The room was clean and comfortable with many storage areas, but for an elderly mother with poor knees, the following points were few 々 problems. The threshold of the toilet door is too high, and it is difficult to cross the threshold. I was wondering if I could catch my leg. I have a hand indoors in the large communal bath, but I gave up using it because there was no handrail in the open-air bath. There are two types of bath chairs with different heights in the cherry blossom bath, but for my mother who has difficulty bent her knees deeply, all of them are low, and I finally sat down and washed my body while feeling pain in my knees. In the hotel I used in the past, there were many places where the bus chair with high seats was installed. I will also use those who have problems with their legs and waist, so I would be happy if you could improve this point.

Nice view of Beppu tower in our room. Hotspring outdoor was totally enjoyable with a view of the sunrise and the Beppu Bay. Gotta be careful though because for ladies, someone in a boat at the bay might be able to see our naked upper bodies with telescope if we stand up.😅

The location of the hotel is very good, right next to Beppu Station; I arrived by direct bus from Fukuoka Airport, the fare is 3250, and I got off the bus and walked for 7-8 minutes, but it took three hours on the road; Hotel mini single room with double bed. The hotel has a hot spring bath which is very comfortable. The water in the room is also from the hot spring ~ Breakfast is okay, I can eat enough, but it’s too early~ Let’s have some snacks in the evening…there are convenience stores and yakiniku restaurants nearby, so it’s very lively More than 400 a night is still pretty good~

If I had to make one complaint, that would be the slight inconvenience of getting to-and-fro the hotel by bus on public holiday (taxi to the JR station is still affordable - about 850¥). If you drive, it would be amazing.

How cost-effective it is. Small business. There is a pick-up service after 3pm. We will take you to the station when you leave. There are only 6 rooms. Basically no one is using the public hot springs. You can go in at any time. It is no different from private ones. The meals are like family dishes. There are Mandarin-speaking work-study students. No need to worry about communication problems.

I chose Yufuin Yubel Hotel this time after looking at the reviews. The evaluation score was 2.5 points, rounded up to 3 points. The location was deep within Lake Kinrinko and within walking distance of Yunotsubo Kaido. I left my luggage at the hotel and headed out for a walk, but on the day of my stay, many of the shops on Yunotsubo Kaido were closed due to heavy rain from yesterday. However, there were many tourists from overseas due to tour schedules. Pull up from your stroll and check in! After taking a bath in the room and resting for a while, we headed to the dinner venue. I received the appearance of Seki horse mackerel. At other onjukus, Seki horse mackerel and Seki mackerel have a certification label that is a branded product, but Yufuin Yubell did not have any labeling. There was a menu, but there was no explanation from the serving staff. I felt disappointed. The next morning, I was waiting for rice and miso soup to be served for breakfast, but they never served it, so I got impatient and rang the doorbell to have it served. When we arrived at the hotel we were warmly greeted by the owner and the staffs at the parking lot. We were luckily upgraded to the room with private onsen and it was an amazing experience. The dinner and breakfast were both delicious and the room was very comfortable. We absolutely enjoyed our experience here.

This is not your typical ryokan. The rooms are big with a good sitting area.. The soaking tub and shower had so many mechanisms that it takes a while to figure out all the controls. Every room has a great view of Yufu mountain and the valley. Some of the rooms are free standing units. Service is great and the included dinner is outstanding. It is a typical Japanese kaiseki dinner with numerous courses. Breakfast is entirely Japanese style, and they serve rice, miso soup and fish. Put up with it if your taste is 100% western. You can have a nice cup of coffee or juice near the lobby when you finish your breakfast. Though they will not serve you coffee with the breakfast. Overall, you will be overjoyed with this place.

First of all, I was very satisfied with the location! It was nice that it was close to Yufuin Station and the bus terminal haha. And the owner was friendly and could communicate in English, so I was guided well! Above all, I went because of the hot springs, but they said that the family baths can only be used if a “child” is included..! We couldn't use the family bath because it didn't meet the requirements, so we used the public bath. However, since the public bath is only used by ryokan guests, we were satisfied that our family could use it almost privately for two days. In particular, I brought a grandmother in her 80s with me and she really enjoyed it! I requested breakfast, and I was able to choose between 8:00 and 8:30, and it was a really neat and clean Japanese home-cooked meal! I stayed for two days and was satisfied with the different types of side dishes and drinks. It seemed like they paid a lot of attention to hygiene, and I felt like I was treated well, so it was a really nice place to stay. Next time I go to Yufuin, this is a place I want to stay again! ☺️

From Hells of Beppu we drove 1.5H to our isolated, small minshuku in Yufu. There only about 5 rooms with some up the hill. We hear from friends that the best hot springs onsens would be in this Beppu-Yufa area. This ryokan is rustic and not too fancy, but the service and food are undeniable. One lady staff person spoke near perfect English, while another spoke Mandarin. There is also a remoteness. I walked in several directions from here. There's no shops, Lawsons, 7-11, or restos immediately. I did find a resto where I bought mochi (alas, no black bean filling, or anything). There are persimmon trees with orange fruit along the road, but I didn't take any. The singular most reason I like this place is that, for the first time, I had 3 separate hot springs baths in my room -- two outside in the balcony and one near the tub. Talk about privacy and availability. Perfect, especially with the cooler temperatures! The kaiseki dinner was outstanding with abalone, crab, and plenty of fish sashimi. Asian pears were served. They are in season now. Breakfast in the small dining room with one table was also brilliant. We had two low beds which were difficult to enter in and out since hardly any walking space adjacent to the beds. When we departed, the owner-manager took a photo of us at the doorway. This is a very desirable ryokan if you like remoteness and a high level of service and cuisine.

Had an overnight stay here for the rugby after a day travelling down from Hokkaido. The trip went incredibly smoothly, then the welcome, the fans zone, the organisation and the fans transport out to the stadium were amazing. Well done Oita. The hotel was a little overwhelmed by the number of people booking in before the match, but staff were friendly and helpful; the room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped; and the hotel was easily found from the station via an interesting arcade - no more than a 5-10 minute walk. Would certainly stay here again if in Oita.
