Amazing
CCNXGBasel was our final stop in Switzerland this year, a border city spanning only 24 square kilometers. Despite its border location, it's very developed and modern.
**Environment:**
Among hotels like Victoria, Mövenpick, Radisson, and Novotel, we chose this 3-star option. It's directly opposite the SBB train station, and the main bus terminal is just 100 meters from the lobby exit. Although it's a transport hub, the area is decent; there are a few homeless people around, but its convenience makes up for it.
**Facilities:**
There's no fitness center, but you can pay to use a partner facility. The lobby bar is alright, not too crowded, with a nice corner view of the street. Coffee runs between 6-7 Swiss francs. The room isn't huge, but it's fully functional, and the bathroom is quite spacious, which is great for travelers.
**Cleanliness:**
The common areas, like the lobby and hallways, are well-maintained, and the room was very tidy. You can definitely trust the cleanliness standards of Swiss hotels.
**Service:**
Check-in and check-out were both quick. Our room was ready well in advance, and luggage storage was straightforward. They provide a Basel Card, which offers free use of all city public transport and half-price entry to some museums. I didn't particularly notice any other services.

GGuest UserThis hotel is great. The staff are very nice and helpful in every way. It has all the amenities that’s required for tourists and it’s very clean.. Breakfast was good no complaints here. They even have a QRCODE for a free ride on the tram or bus. how cool is that. They even called a taxi for us to take us to the Viking tor departure. We definitely recommend this hotel. Oh by the way it’s only five minutes walk to the center Basel..GREAT PLACE.

GGuest UserVery close to the train station, which is super convenient. The room itself was quite small, and you had to switch elevators multiple times to get to it, which was a bit of a hassle. Everything else was just okay.

RRebeccakvdhWe were just passing through. It's a clean hotel with friendly staff. It was a hot day, so they took a window to our room. You don't have to pay for that. Everything else in the hotel was a bit pricey. But we had a great night!

Environment: The overall hotel environment is pleasant, and the room layout is also very practical.
Facilities: Most hotels in Switzerland have very soft pillows, but this was the only one that offered memory foam pillows, which made for a more comfortable sleep. The only downside is that if your room faces the street, you might hear the trams passing by outside.

GGuest UserThis hotel is quite good in Basel across the board. There's a machine in the hallway that dispenses sparkling water and sparkling iced water. The restaurant food is excellent and portions are generous. The location is also superb; you can walk to the train station, and it's just a few stops by public transport to places like the art museum.

It's okay when the bathroom door is shut but still there when you open it. It didn't bother me a lot but it may be something others find uncomfortable. Otherwise, a great hotel with friendly staff and very comfortable.

AAnonymous UserThe room was decent and offered good value for the price, especially the 1.6-meter bed which is rare at this price point.
On the first day, there was a slight perfume smell in the room which I personally wasn't a fan of, but it dissipated quickly after turning on the air conditioning.
As for breakfast, by Swiss standards, it was quite good. The serving hours were long enough that even late risers could still enjoy it.
After booking, the email confirmation was almost instantaneous. We arrived in the early hours of the morning, but thankfully the front desk is 24-hour, so we were able to check in smoothly even in the middle of the night, which was a huge plus.
The cleanliness was impeccable; the whole place was very tidy.
The complimentary Basel Card was incredibly useful and saved us a lot on public transport.

OOn TripI had a pretty good experience staying at Basel Youth Hostel. The location is convenient, with easy access to public transport and just a short walk to the city center and the Rhine river. The building is modern, clean, and well-designed, with a nice mix of comfort and functionality.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was smooth. My room was tidy and quiet, with comfortable beds and good storage space. I also appreciated the free Wi-Fi and the availability of common areas to relax or get some work done.
Breakfast was simple but fresh and satisfying — a good start to the day. I also liked the eco-friendly approach the hostel takes, which added to the overall positive impression.
Would definitely recommend it to budget travelers looking for a safe, clean, and well-located place to stay in Basel!
