Cardiff Hotels with Bars

There was a function on at the hotel which we were not informed of at arrival. The music went on till late and was very noisy. Our room being directly above the area. Room was cramped in sleeping area. As the dresser and furniture was too big.

Hotel was lovely, great location really great staff. Restaurant was fabulous as was the Browns bar & staff. Unfortunately our aircon was ineffective and when reported to reception no engineers to review/fix and we ended up with 2 small fans in the room 🥺🥺. Safe to say our sleep was awful, the room was so hot and stuffy reaching temperatures in excess of 29 degrees (air con was set to 18). It would have been more cooler to sleep in the corridor 😟😟😟. So whilst this hotel was beautiful this issue certainly affected the quality of our stay.

I like to book Holiday Inn when I travel because it's usually reliable, although some branches can be a older/more worn out than others, but I expect would be up to standards. Room was comfortable and very spacious. Had a Big screen tv ehich was great to watch the match.The night team went above and beyond to ensure I had a good stay and responded to my request.

I arrived quickly as it's close to the train station. The location is excellent! It's on the main street but wasn't chaotic or noisy, which was a plus. The self check-in/check-out kiosks made things convenient, and the staff were incredibly, incredibly friendly. The room itself was clean, and the elephant and swan towel art on the bed was especially cute. It immediately put me in a good mood when I walked in. Although there wasn't a fridge in the room, I asked at reception, and they kindly stored my wine in the hotel bar fridge, allowing my friends and I to have an enjoyable night. I was worried the window might look small from the photos, but the view was so beautiful that it didn't feel small at all.

I really enjoyed my stay overall. The location was fantastic—on a beautiful street—and the hotel building itself is stunning. When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by a very kind Italian gentleman, which gave me a great first impression. My room, though located in a separate area, was clean, modern, and nicely decorated. Everything looked fresh and well thought out. However, I was disappointed to find visible stains on the bed sheets. While I believe they had been washed, the stains hadn’t come out and the sheets were still used, which didn’t match the high standard the rest of the hotel presented. I think they should have replaced them. Another minor inconvenience was the bathroom light, which was automatic and triggered the extractor fan. This meant that even during the night, using the bathroom caused the noisy fan to stay on for a while, which could’ve been avoided with a manual light switch, in my opinion. Despite these issues, the stay was mostly very positive, but I can’t give a full five stars because of the sheets. Hopefully this can be improved for future guests.

Had a lovely stay here, hotel was closer to many thing for you to walk around 10min. Services from staff was good. Breakfast was alright and not too fancy. You can also access the pool and other facilities. Bed was okay and comfortable only downside is that they can only change the sheets after 3days not every day when room service does their day rounds. Overall I will definitely recommend. Will definitely visit again.

The bed was very comfortable, and the location is right on the liveliest street. While the location is convenient, it’s also quite noisy—there were people drinking and partying downstairs late into the night. Early in the morning, you can hear the sound of bottles being cleared from the street.

Our room door was open when we arrived and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. Rang up and everything was resolved very quickly. Had some extras because of the inconvenience. The room was very quiet so had a very good night's sleep both nights.

It is a good hotel, good size swimming pool & have both steam room and sauna, however, been twice now on weekdays and both times very busy. Mainly self check-ins which loses the personal touch I feel and not too happy charged extra for parking giving the location of the hotel. Great service in the restaurant.

I’m so glad we decided to stay at The Coal Exchange Hotel in Cardiff. I’d been given the very important job of finding a place to stay overnight for my friend’s special birthday. I didn’t really know where to start, so I compared prices of hotels in the area. I was surprised to find that the ‘budget’ hotels Premier Inn and Travelodge were no cheaper than The Coal Exchange for the given dates! I had a look at the photos and reviews and it looked perfect for a special occasion. It was steeped in history with the interior design staying true to the period in which it was built. Originally, as there were five of us, I had booked the sextuplet room. It looked amazing and we were all really excited about staying there. Unfortunately though, due to maintenance work being carried out on that part of the building, we had to change our plans to three double rooms right next to each other. The rooms were beautiful. Floor to ceiling double windows, opulent wallpaper, ornate period furniture and a lovely comfortable centrepiece bed. The bathrooms had gorgeous jacuzzi baths and stone basins. The following morning we had a delicious breakfast in Culley’s Restaurant situated inside the Coal Exchange. The staff here are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure you have the best stay. Can’t wait to go back.
