Dorothea Hotel, Budapest, Autograph Collection

My experience with this hotel was terrible. Absolutely arrogant attitude of employees. They have also charged us twice for one of the rooms and didn’t commit to the mistake. Only via the phone they have apologized and said they will fix everything, but via email they never did. During breakfast I had to ask three times for our table to be cleaned from previous people and staff was walking like they are in their sleep.

Excellent location in the city center near river. Clean hotel with excellent service from hotel staffs.

Spectacular property. New (6 month old) and modern. Central location without the noise. Friendly and acomodating staff. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Can easily walk to all the main attractions: opera, synagogue, New York Cafe, Aleli restaurant....

The hotel is still brand new and we enjoyed our room (though we were a bit disappointed that our Marriott gold status wasn't enough to upgrade us to anything). The location was great for exploring many of the touristic attractions of Budapest on foot. The room was of standard size, well decorated and the bathroom was very nice. The hotel lobby itself is quite small as most of the pictures you see of the hotel are actually of its restaurant, which is a very nice area. We enjoyed cocktails there and the bartender was very friendly. Our only letdown was about the front desk's misinformation about the breakfast price. They told us it was 29 euros per person, but upon checkout we noticed the charge was the equivalent of 35 euros per person - sorry but you cannot justify a 20% discrepancy on some random exchange rate divergence (especially when the HUF was very stable). A couple eating there for, say, 4 days would've spent 48 euros more than what they'd have been quoted. The breakfast buffet was good but service was very slow whenever we needed to order cooked items or beverages (at some point we had to get up and walk to the waiter's station as our attempts to get his attention were ignored). All in all a great stay despite some small hiccups.

Staying at the Dorothea Hotel in Budapest this May was absolutely amazing! The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The room was cozy and spotless, with a great view of the city. Breakfast each morning was delicious with a nice variety. We especially loved the little touches, like the complimentary wine in the evening. It felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend Dorothea Hotel for anyone visiting Budapest!

The Dorothea Hotel is by far the nicest luxury hotel in Budapest. It rivals all other five star hotels in the area. While it might be new, the interior design, finishes and furnishings of this hotel are breathtaking. Hats off to the owner Istvan for creating such an elegant and inviting space! We stayed in one of the most opulent suites and I cannot thank the staff enough for how accommodating they were during our stay. This hotel is the prime location for enjoying all of Budapest. It’s literally in the heart of the most famous walking district. If you can get a room on the 7th floor at the top of the hotel, do it. The rooms are spectacular and the vibe on the 7th floor is entirely different from the other floors. The atrium here is also extremely impressive with its towering steel and glass combined with an indoor garden. It’s an architectural marvel. Thank you again to the entire staff for making our stay so memorable!
