Hotels near Falasarna Big Beach (North End), Chania

Perfect stay in a lovely small-feel hotel right on the beach. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Sam and George in particular made us feel like VIPs! The breakfast spread was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel, with a vast range of cooked and continental options. Everything was spotless. The restaurant offers a good range of drinks and lunch (on the beach or on the lawn) and dinner in the evening. If you fancy a change of scenery for dinner, I recommend walking along the beach at sunset to eat at one of the many excellent beach bars towards to harbour.

From the very beginning the owner welcomed us with such care. The place itself it’s located perfectly outside the rush of people but yet still so close to the city of Chania (8/10mins by car). The establishment is super nice and well kept surrounded by bamboo and olive trees. The rooms are near each other and most of them are overlooking the pool. Room itself was very very clean and towels,bedsheets,products were smelling really nice. You can see that the place is well maintained and taken very good care of! It’s also PET FRIENDLY with stray cats(which you’ll see either in the morning or at night without even bothering you) another reason why we booked this establishment as we brought our own dog which was well accepted without any additional costs or useless comments. Our holiday is still ongoing as we booked for 5 days but it’s a must to leave a positive comment to such a beautiful place and people. To who ever sees this post don’t think twice and just book it! We arrived in beautiful Chania and were dropped off on the main road opposite the little track up to the Nireas. I had read TA reviews so knew to expect that Christos, the owner, would offer us a room upgrade but we were happy with our original room which was Apt 24 on the ground floor with a fantastic large balcony opening straight onto the pool area. We paid €5 a night for air con which was really powerful, and €10 for the safe. The room was dated but more than adequate for us as we are used to Greek accommodation. There were 2 beds pushed together and then a single bed near the door which my son slept in. There was a 2 ring hob, microwave and kettle and basic utensils but we only ate breakfast in the apartment so it was more than enough. I think you would struggle to conjure up a Cordon Bleu meal though but with so many fabulous restaurants on the doorstep, it wasn’t a worry for us. There were a few things that made us chuckle…. the apartment door had been hung the wrong way so the handle was inside the room and not on the outside 🤣 and the usual Greek plumbing scenario with the shower head on the wall but the shower screen on the other side of the shower meaning the floor got soaked 🫣 but hey, it’s Greece 🇬🇷 The maid came in every day except a Sunday and the sheets/towels were changed regularly. There was a drying rack on the patio for hanging wet beach stuff up. Plenty of socket points and the beds were super comfy. The pool area was quiet but we only used it in the afternoons once we came back from the beach. There were always sunbeds and Christos was either there or available by WhatsApp. The WiFi worked fine in our rooms and by the pool. Kato Doratso is a residential suburb just 4km outside of Chania so a perfect location for us. Just down the little road from the hotel is a supermarket on the corner for all your essentials/bottles of water. There were 4 beaches within walking distance and we chose Sunset Beach due to the stunning clear water. It’s a bay so no tide and it was shallow for a great way out meaning our son could happily swim and play without us worrying too much. There was a bar on the beach and the owner did a mean Freddo Cappuccino ☕️ 👌🏽 You could buy salads, hot snacks and sandwiches, ice creams, crisps and drinks there. There were also chargeable sunbeds and parasols and you could hire a kayak or paddle board. There was another shop near the start of the hotels to the left of the bay. We bought a couple of parasols from the shop and lay on the beach. It was full of local families and we thoroughly enjoyed mixing with them. The bus into Chania is the #21. Come out of the hotel, down onto the main road and take a right along the path. Just past the car garage there’s a bus stop and a ticket machine. You need the exact change and it’s €1.10 each into town (€2 if you pay on the bus) When you are is in Chania, as you get off, there’s a ticket machine and a kiosk to buy return tickets and you can catch the bus back

We visited this well run hotel - 19th - 27th September - all the staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. Our room 406 was very well appointed and bed very comfortable. Airconditioned which we used when the nights were hot. Housekeeping did an excellent job. The hotel is in a good position, just moments walk to the Old Town, and a 12-15 minute to the nearest beach. Breakfast excellent choices of hot & cold food, with local selection of cakes, savoury and sweet Cretin pies. Local selection of bread and large selection of unusual jams and breakfast spreads. I would like to thank personally Nikos (Food & Beverage Manager)- for his friendship and ensuring that our breakfast meal was being enjoyed. He spoke to us personally each morning and he gave us some good information of places to visit outside Chania. Also I would like to thank - Emmanuella (Front of House- Reception)- again her friendship and she would also talk to us every time we passed the front desk. She again gave us very valuable information of places to visit, and organised taxi's and booked a day-trip by coach and boat. Emmanuella was again very polite, helpful yet professional, and helped make our holiday most memorable. A big thank you also to Necteria (breakfast server)- every morning she spoke to us, and remembered our breakfast order, she was so kind and helpful. We would certainly return to Samaria Hotel, and would recommend without hesitation - we have some lovely memories. Hotel has a good swimming pool,

We have only been here one night, but so far, the entire experience has been fantastic. On arrival, we were greeted with a delicious cocktail from the bar, where we sat and filled out the checkin forms. The car was parked for us for 15euros, meaning we didn’t have the battle to find a parking space in the busy Chania. The people have been fantastic, nothing is too much trouble, and they even took our luggage to our room, which was wonderful. And the breakfast this morning - it was fantastic. Both a buffet style breakfast and ‘a la carte’ option available. The entire team at breakfast were attentive, and made the whole experience feel very relaxing. Lastly, the rooms! They are beautiful, with double-width showers, beautiful bedding, blackout blinds, excellent AC and tastefully decorated rooms. In summary, this his has been a great find for us. Perfectly located in the heart of Chania, just a 5 minute stroll to the harbour. The whole experience has been brilliant. Looking forward to the last few nights of our stay. Thank you all!

My stay at this hotel was characterized by an outstanding location, close to the city center and conveniently surrounded by various food stores, pharmacies, and supermarkets. The receptionist was exceptionally kind and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. However, the absence of an elevator posed a challenge, especially when handling luggage, making it less convenient. Nonetheless, the room itself was remarkably comfortable, and the presence of a taxi station right in front of the hotel proved to be a practical perk.

Stayed in suite with sea view. The view was amazing. The room was lovely, bed super comfy. There was a nice vanity table to get ready at. Bathroom was big and clean. The service at reception were very helpful. The location was great right in old town but not too noisy - music from restaurant in evening but I liked it and church bells on Sunday. I really enjoyed my stay here and was very happy with the suite. Couple of things to point out: there was no furniture on the balconies and aside from a pouf, no furniture in room to move outside. So meant nothing to sit on to enjoy balcony and it’s view. Also the curtain was only half curtain so to block out light need to shut the shutters which then restricts air. I didn’t mind but if you want darkness to sleep might need to bring eye mask. Like I said only minor things. Overall great place. Hot water - i mention as I know this is important to people :)

I booked to Elia Potie in Chania and I called the day before to ask for a shuttle from the airport to the hotel (the hotel offered this service). I asked for the driver to have a POS so I pay with a credit card. A driver came at the airport, he was nice but did not have POS because nobody from the hotel informed him about it. Thus, I had to walk with him around the city to a taxi place where his partner had the POS to pay. At the hotel and during my check in I was informed that my breakfast will not be served at my hotel but in another hotel 300 meters away. I complained because this was not written in the description of the room/hotel. Then, I had to walk with my suitcase to the hotel I booked (the check in was at the hotel where breakfast was served). When I arrived I found out that there is no elevator and I had to carry my luggage upstairs which was not possible because I broke my hand a few months ago (see pictures). I called the reception of the hotel and they told me that they do not offer groom service. I went to the room and left the suitcase downstairs. I informed the reception that either they should arrange so the suitcase is carried to my room or offer me a free cancellation. Moreover the room had a bad smell...I do not know if it is humidity or the smell from the bathroom... I also asked for a room change afterwards. The manager refused through the receptionist to offer me a free cancellation or change me room. The only thing the reception did was to send a person to carry my suitcase to my room afte two hours. Moreover, the room is above a bar and there is music playing until one a.m. Terrible experience, I do not recommend this hotel chain to anyone. The management is UNPROFESSIONAL and offer NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! Of course I informed Hotels.com immediately and they were trying to find the manager but he/she was hiding!

We have just returned from our trip to Chania, Crete. Our week long stay in Lena Beach Hotel was excellent in every single respect! We enjoyed the beautiful setting, fantastic breakfast and most of all, the fantastic service offered by Ioannis (hotel manager) and the team. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and even helped us organise and book taxi transfer from the airport. The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere and all staff go out of their way to give a personal touch. The pool area was stunning and access times were brilliant (open until 9pm). There are some beautiful beaches only a few minutes walk from the hotel, of which we visited every evening to watch the gorgeous sunsets! We were in a Triple room with a beautiful sea view. The room catered for our every need and the powerful air conditioning was definitely appreciated! The balcony area was very private. We had a sound sleep every night! The area is absolutely stunning and we enjoyed days out in Chania and Imbros Gorge, as well as having an unforgettable trip out to Gouvreneto Monasteries. Thank you Ioannis and your team for making our holiday so special! We will definitely be returning 😊
