The Morehead Inn

This is my home away from home when I’m in Charlotte on business. I love coming here and look forward to my stays every time. The rooms are romantic and dreamy. Breakfast is savory and delicious. I recommend renting a complimentary bike and riding around the lovely adjoining neighborhood - Dilworth.

The Morehead Inn was a home built in the early 1900s. I felt like I had returned to a previous era with the large sitting rooms and fireplaces. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the formal dining room was delicious and filling.

The Morehead Inn delivered the wedding of our dreams—I can’t say it much better than that! We toured a few venues in Charlotte, with Morehead being our last stop. Let’s just say we were blown away. Despite having held a wedding the night before, the team had laid out a sample table and table setting for us to see, and took us on a full tour of the public spaces and private rooms. You can rent the inn for an entire weekend, including the guest rooms, which is what we did—and it was a fantastic experience for us and our wedding party and family who stayed there. Having all of our VIP’s right there was wonderful, and they got to enjoy the beautiful guest rooms and hospitality of the Morehead. Their team delivered on every level—from big tasks like elaborate room flips to the tiny details, like bringing up snacks and cider to our grandmother who has limited mobility. The absolute care and joy that the team brings to their work was clear in everything they did. We have to give the biggest shoutout ever to Brooke, Venue & Events Director, who was our point of contact. From the first tour to the end of our wedding night, Brooke was there with us. I think we sent her about a zillion emails and a trillion questions, and she answered them all with speed, kindness, and know-how. She is an asset to the Morehead and truly made our experience so special and personal. You can tell that she loves her work. When we realized we hadn’t brought firewood for our after party around the fire pit out back, she went above and beyond and had her team go out and get some—the smores around the fire pit were an incredible end to the night. The Morehead Inn’s catering partner, Something Classic, did an incredible job as well. Hannah was our bartender and breakfast server as well as general rockstar, she brought such a lovely energy to the event! Every bite of food we had was delicious, and their menus had so many great choices for us to select from. We loved how flexible they were with drinks as well–we were able to do signature cocktails, which our guests loved. The decor and design of the Inn itself are beautiful—classic, with a touch of flair. This means that all of our photos turned out especially pretty, because the backdrop of the inn is so gorgeous. We got married in December, and the Inn had lovely Christmas decor that was timeless and beloved by our guest—many photos were taken under their Christmas trees! Brooke and the Morehead want to bring your vision to life—and they clearly love to throw beautiful, imaginative, special, intimate events. We had an incredible time (and so did our guests) at the Inn. We truly cannot recommend them enough—visit, and you will see why!

My husband, I, and two good friends stayed here one night, booking two rooms. Our rooms were on the second floor and had nice furnishings. The bathrooms were a tiny bit small, but nice. The house is absolutely gorgeous! We sat outdoors after dinner, and enjoyed a bottle of wine, and asked the desk clerk for a corkscrew, which she could not find. We did happen to have one in our car to use. Some of the furnishings are showing a little bit of wear at this point, but it is a grand old inn. Breakfast was good, but the coffee was not hot! We would also have appreciated a glass of wine when we checked in, as is common with lots of upscale bed-and-breakfasts. Good location.

For our daughter's wedding the Morehead Inn was the perfect venue. The staff was very communicative about what they would be doing and very accommodating to all of our request. They were present late into the evening and interactive with all the vendors in a seamless manner that took 'almost' all the stress off of an exciting day. A courtyard wedding followed by a patio reception and then dinner in the main living room, dancing in the ballroom followed by a very 'late night' around a large outdoor fire pit with family made for a perfect weekend. The rooms were well equipped, clean and spacious and we received several comments about how tasty the food was. The breakfast each morning was special as well and very filling. The Inn shows the grandeur of a manor home with a few wrinkles but all in all, well attended. Kudos to Chief Engineer Chris, Hannah and all the staff at the Morehead Inn!!

We visited Charlotte for an event at the Spectrum Center. It was great finding a historical BnB in such a great location and one that was pet friendly. We walked to dinner and to the Spectrum Center! That being said would I stay there again…probably not. We had made a reservation for a king, main floor, pet friendly room that did not face the Main Street, in the carriage house. A couple of hours before our arrival were were called and told the door lock was being replaced and would not be finished, so we were being moved. The only pet friendly rooms available were queens. We were between a hard place and a rock. So we accepted the queen room on the main floor. The room actually was 2 rooms. The first room was quite large but had a very strong sweet deodorizing smell. I am assuming this was to cover pet orders that were in the carpet. It was off putting. The second room was the bedroom with attached bathroom. The carpet in both rooms was in need of replacing. It would have been much better to have the original hardwood floor exposed. There are many things that could be done to make both rooms look nicer i.e. replace broken slates on the blinds. The property as a whole looks a bit run down in need of some TLC and other areas just need to be cleaned up. On a positive note: the breakfast staff was very nice and the breakfast very tasty.

We booked a reservation many months ahead of time for a special occasion, and booked a room with a fireplace specifically. When we arrived, the fireplace was out of order. The room had a very tiny refrigerator (think the size of a glove compartment in a vehicle - seriously). Good thing we brought a cooler. They had also told us when we booked that the room was scheduled for redecorating, but when we arrived the same old, dingy furniture was there, complete with peeling wallpaper. For $200+ per night, I can find much better accommodations elsewhere. Very disappointed.

Last minute changes in our schedule created chaos and needed a place to stay in Charlotte. My favorite B&B in Charlotte as it is home and feels like it when I stay here. Staff, rooms, property and location never dissapoint. Love the finches in the library and always have to say hi to them. Never have enough time to enjoy the property as too busy, however for those wanting to relax this place is perfect. Backyard space, front and plenty of rooms to read, rest or visit. Breakfast english style makes you feel special too. Thanks again for coming to our rescue. PS The Fried Green Tomatoes were amazing. We will see you soon.
