Bcminns - Coleman

This motel is adjacent to the highway, restaurants and service stations, so is in a good place for easy access. For anyone who has trouble sleeping this would probably not be the place for you as the road is busy and can be noisy. With the motel being this busy you could also hear sounds from below and beside you. We have stayed here many times and normally have no issues, but this time we had no heat. We got the last room, so they were unable to transfer us elsewhere. We called the front desk and they came to check on the problem, and then they called maintenance, but in the end, nothing could be done. The switch that runs the system was faulty and they did not have another on hand. This was the first time heat had been needed this season and they had not yet checked the rooms to make sure the system worked. We were supplied with a couple of heaters, which helped, but was also annoying as we had to keep getting up to turn them on and off throughout the night. The carpets had been vacuumed but they are at that point where they need to be given a deep clean or have new carpets installed. The room was the last one in the row on the top floor. It had a private balcony facing the back of the motel and lots of windows, which meant there was lots of natural light. The queen bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice and soft. We would probably stay here again if nothing else was available.

Exterior electrical outlets for vehicles. Snow cleared from sidewalk and parking lot. Pleasant, helpful hostess (Kerry) and maintenance crew (Sandy). Warm inviting room in -28°C ambient conditions. Spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms with spacious counter space. New bed, bathtub. 3 baseboard heaters worked very well. Frig and coffee maker were wonderi. Excellent wifi. Did I mention it was warm? Best accommodations I experienced traveling from Toronto to Vancouver Island. Warm, comfortable, spacious

I sent the following to the mayor of Crowsnest Pass County, the municipality that the Town of Coleman lies within. Another reviewer in Sept. 2021 noted the same, and as yet unrectified, safety hazard. "HOTEL SAFETY HAZARD" Dear Mayor Painter: Hello. We stayed one night last week at the BCM Inn in Coleman, enroute BC. The address is 8514 19 Ave, Coleman, AB T0K 0M0. We had a nice stay except for one thing - my wife tripped and fell going up the stairs to the second level on the hotels central outside staircase. She has mobility problems but does move carefully. She bruised herself very badly. The reason was that the one stair riser immediately before the mid-stair landing is exactly 1 1/2 inches higher than all the others. When a climber is climbing with an even gait it causes an uneven tripping point for their toe. I told the hotel staff. They know about this safety hazard. In fact, they put three small signs on the stairs saying "Watch Your Step". A reviewer on Trip Advisor noted this hazard in Sept. 2021 (see review posted by Michael C. at Trip Advisor - Trip Hazard Review ). This hazard has existed since the stairs were built long ago. I'm sure others have taken falls because of it. The stairs do not meet building codes. They are unsafe. The stairs never met safety codes and should not have been approved for use. I really recommend you have the hotels' owner(s) fix this hazard as soon as possible. " (FYI, I included to the mayor a reference to the other reviewer's comments in Sept. 2021, and both pictures of the stairs and the large bruise on my wife's leg)
