We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while exploring Datong and surrounding attractions. The location was perfect for us - nestled between both major train stations, a short walk to the old city, and conveniently very close to the bus station to the Hanging Monastry. The staff were very polite and helpful, some could speak some English. We were given various complimentary gifts and desserts during our stay. We loved the free tea (of various varieties) in the lobby! The room was a little old but clean, comfortable and quiet. I guess the only complaint is the elevator - they only have two but about 14 floors and it was utter chaos trying to move about in the morning when everyone wants to check out. Small issue though.

I loved this hotel. It has an old-fashioned charm that made me feel right at home. My room was very large, comfortable, and well-equipped. All of the staff and service people were extremely courteous from start to finish. The Chinese restaurant on the 7th floor has a great choice of dishes! Highly recommended, and excellent value for money. A great base for exploring the sights around Datong.

I have stayed in so many hotels, both cheap and expensive, but I have never encountered a leaking water pipe in the room. The water supply was cut off in the middle of taking a shower. It was speechless. Although the staff actively solved the problem every time, Weidu is considered a mid-to-high-end hotel in Datong. Why is there so many problems with the infrastructure? But to be honest, the hotel bedding is very comfortable and the knife-cut noodles for breakfast are delicious. But can the room facilities be maintained?

The hotel is located in the center of the ancient city, near the Drum Tower, so it is very convenient to visit the ancient city attractions. There are also many delicious restaurants and snack bars around the hotel. Service: Enthusiastic, proactive, polite and thoughtful. As soon as you enter the hotel gate, there are staff to greet and help. The front desk staff is amiable. Not only does it handle business quickly, but it also answers questions and patiently tells us how to play in the ancient city. The floor attendants are also polite. Environment: atmospheric and clean, quiet and comfortable. Facilities: Although it is an older hotel, it has complete facilities and smart toilets. The room not only has ordinary mineral water, but also natural soda water. Water is placed at the elevator entrance on each floor for guests to take. Hygiene: Clean and tidy. We stayed for three nights and cleaned every day. I especially want to praise the breakfast, which is very rich in variety, with both Chinese and Western food. The knife-cut noodles and mutton offal soup are delicious. The boiled eggs are the best breakfasts I have eaten in many hotels. They are just cooked and the yolk is just solidified without turning black.

Wenda and all of her colleagues were wonderful! English is spoken here. Fantastic service, friendly, helpful, very clean and spacious rooms, really nice view over the river and at night with all of the lights. Breakfast is good, the facilities are clean and presentable. The room was quiet and the window can be opened if you want fresh air or to cool down the room a bit, the ac works too to cool it down in winter but that’s recirculated air with some people smoking in non-smoking rooms (typical). Our room did not smell which was great and although we had neighbours we could not hear them, so good for light sleepers. Only downside is the bed is firm. Quick 10 minute didi to the ancient city, malls, delicious lunch and food places. The hotel organised a driver to take us to the hanging temple, yungang grottoes and then to a delicious local restaurant very affordable, helpful, reliable and kind driver (WeChat: 永恒). Also recommend going to the art gallery and museum only 10 mins away. It’s a good location.

It's a pity that I didn't take any pictures. It's great to stay at her house in Datong. Taxi from Datong South Station to the store is 25 yuan. Taking the bus is more economical and convenient. Going to Yungang Grottoes by bus costs 2 yuan per person for a round trip, swiping a bus card, taking a taxi or not using a meter costs 50 yuan. It's very close to the ancient city. It costs 30 yuan per person to take a battery car around the ancient city. Thanks.
