It was an ok experience. The hotel is a little run down in parts. Service at the dinner rooms were not always the best. The staff are not really bothered and would not give the menu quickly for instance. The room was nice but again it was not in the main block.. there was something missing in the hotels experience. The free evening tea and snack was awful. Yea was made terribly and the snack was tasteless. There are better evening tea service in places with yum snacks. This was plain simple boring and stingy at giving good food. Personally I would not stay here again.

Awesome experience, staff were very courteous, polite & friendly. Hotel has Live band playing English & Bollywood songs in the evening time and has Disco night (clubbing) at the PUB located in basement on Saturday nights, charge is Rs 1000 for male and free entry for female (charges applicable for in room guests also) We got JAIN FOOD on request and we enjoyed the food. View of the valley from the hotel is very good and we had mountain view from our room. Hotel is located slightly far from the market, though not very far. Overall a great experience and I got value for money for my stay

We stayed The Elgin in Gangtok during our Sikkim trip in early May. 1. Location: 20-25 mins walking from MG Market. Easily accesible by car. Great views of the Palzor football stadium. 2. Ambience/ Property: Immaculately maintained heritage property and gardens. We were offered room 404 which was both spacious and cozy. Beautiful decor. 3. Service/ Dining: Great service. Staff are similing and ever willing to oblige. Special mention to Sharmila (desk), Ashoke and RajKishore (dining) and the gardening/ cleaning staff. I would crib that dining menu was limited and pricey though, although good in taste and service. Especially the cookies, tea, cakes at tea service. 4. Accessibility: It is a heritage property so has no lifts/ elevators. One has to use the stairs. 4. BONUS: Hilton, the furry Samoyed was a treat and we loved to play with him. We also picked up the book ”Kanchenjunga Whispers” by the owner. Rea Oberoi. On hindsight we should have stayed in The Elgin in Pelling and Darjeeling too.

Moreover they have stair access to river n fall. Hotel located at perfect place in Gangtok City, just 15 mins away from MG Marg which is the main attraction and heart of beautiful Gangtok city. Neat and clean, well spaced room with soft and cozy bed. Amazingly delicious choice of breakfast buffet in terms of complementary breakfast plan. Best part is hotel is located in such place that traveling to prominent tourist spots like Nathula-Changu lake, North Sikkim, Gangtok local sight seeing and back to Airport is hassle free. Highly recommend. Kudos to Mr Vivek and his team, a trip worth remembering.
