XanaDeluxe Hotel Foshan Danzao — A Genuinely Great Stay with One Notable Flaw As someone who spent most of their trip based at the hotel, I can give a pretty thorough take on what it’s actually like to live in this place for a few days. First impressions The lobby sets the tone immediately. It’s clean, well-presented and the staff are genuinely professional. As an English speaker with only basic Mandarin, I was a little nervous about communication, but the front desk team went above and beyond with translation and made me feel completely at ease. That kind of hospitality is hard to fake. The Room My room was impressively clean overall. The only thing I’d flag is the carpet, which felt like it could use a deeper steam clean. Nothing alarming, and perfectly fine with slippers, but worth mentioning. The air conditioning though? Absolutely elite. Strong, reliable and a lifesaver. Facilities The fifth floor amenities are a real highlight. The gym has brand new equipment, fresh towels and complimentary water ready to go. I spent some solid time on the cardio machines and had zero complaints. The laundry room is also genuinely impressive — four washers, four dryers, plenty of seating, steamers and a dedicated ironing area. Very thoughtfully set up. Food The hotel has several dining options on-site. I tried the dim sum and it was solid. Good variety, good quality and a nice atmosphere. The One Thing That Needs Work Wi-Fi. For younger travellers especially, reliable internet is non-negotiable. Whether it was for remote work or just streaming, the speeds were consistently disappointing. Upload and download were both underwhelming. My cellular signal wasn’t great either, but I’d expect the hotel Wi-Fi to compensate for that, not add to the frustration. Final Verdict This is a hotel that genuinely nails the hospitality side of things. It’s clean, the staff are warm and professional, and the facilities are well above average. Sort out the Wi-Fi and this is easily a five-star experience across the board. I’d absolutely come back next time I’m in Danzao.

First, let's talk about the pros. The hotel is in a city center location, very close to Qinghui Garden, and convenient for out-of-town visitors arriving by subway. The hotel decor is nice, the facilities are good, and the cleanliness is acceptable. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. Now for the cons, mainly the service, which felt very unprofessional. The front desk always had a queue, and the staff seemed flustered, always busy but not sure what they were busy with. When checking in, staff member A asked for our ID. After finishing with the person in front, staff member B then asked for my ID again. I told her I had already given it to them. Staff member C then reminded B that it was right next to her, and B proceeded to complain to C for not reminding her earlier. When I returned to pick up my stored luggage after checking out, I handed the luggage tag to staff member B. B then asked me where the luggage was. I had given you the tag, and you're asking me where it is? You're the ones who put it away, how would I know? Now I finally understand why they're always busy; the efficiency is just too low.

My first time staying at this Sheraton, and while it's not brand new, it offers great value for money. The room had a small balcony, and the location is excellent! From the hotel, a taxi to Fengjian Water Town was about 46 RMB (a bit far), to Fisherman's Wharf was about 17 RMB, and it took only 9 minutes to get to Daliang Shunde Fisherman's Village for dim sum... As a stopover and resupply point, it's more than sufficient. Big shout-out to Gavin Zhao Peilin at the front desk! He was incredibly helpful with his detailed recommendations; clearly, he's a local who knows all the best places to eat and drink.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, adjacent to the Qiandeng Lake CBD. It's in the same building as the Marriott Hotel and is also a Marriott-branded property, offering moderate pricing. The rooms are spacious and tidy, with comfortable bedding and expansive views from the upper floors. Guests can also use the heated pool and gym at the Marriott Hotel in the same building, making it great value for money. The front desk efficiently handled check-in, the self-service breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, and parking was free. It's perfectly suited for both business trips and short getaways. Hotel concierge Shirley Lin called in advance to inquire about our arrival time and check-in needs, and provided meticulous and attentive service throughout our stay – truly commendable!
