Swiss Lodge Hotel Bernerhof

Firstly, the management and staff could not have been more obliging, caring, and pleasant. From the very start, they offered us the best bedroom arrangement for the five of us, providing a shower and WC for each bedroom. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. Each had a balcony over the front of the hotel, facing the Manlichen, and the Jungfrau. The beds were very comfortable, providing a second pillow if required. We opted to have breakfast in the hotel which was eminently practical. The breakfast buffet was very varied. The evening dining room was very popular with hotel guests and people from outside. Booking was essential. its popularity meant that there were two sessions per evening. The menu was varied with an emphasis on popular Swiss dishes. My wife is a professional cook and found the quality of the food was excellent, if not too generous!
The Aarburg Hotel & Café

Hotel is located at Interlaken west but walkable to other more bustling parts of interlaken. The room I had looked dated but in good order (bathroom looked refreshed) . There is no lift so you will have to lug luggage up at least one floor or more depending on which room you get. Breakfast is provided and the cafe has a nice ambience with outdoor and window seats that look out into a pretty street with a stream nearby. I thought the breakfast was average compared to breakfast I had at other hotels I had stayed in at Switzerland. Hot option was limited to scrambled eggs - which were sometimes too dry. The hotel has a lounge that guest can use, helpful if you do a takeaway as rooms feel too cramp for a meal
Baeren Hotel, the Bear Inn

Booked here as close to rail for mountains and town (10 minute walk), plus it looked quaint with good rooms. Price comparable with many as Switzerland is still most expensive country to visit in Europe, reflecting domestic high salaries (maybe 3x that of UK or France). Initial impression not great, as another elderly guest was rebuked at reception when she complained about stairs (a lot) and was told she should have read before booking, no offer to carry baggage. Sort of set the tone for us. A take it or leave it attitude to service? However, chap was polite with us, gave us keys basic ideas, and we paid, as asked, before even seeing room, another no no for us normally. We told him we'd not have breakfast next morning as we were on 1st train up into the mountains. Room turned out to be not that bad, shower room a bit of a pokey after thought. Spotted a nice sharp damaged base to mirror above water glasses, before we cut knuckles on it. Needs replacing. It is an old building, but somebody ought to nail some floorboards down after maybe doing some sound insulation between, as every step on floor above and round about is very very loud, meaning you sleep late and wake early. Some stains on carpet in various places. Having traveeled all day, we opted to eat first night at half board, but wine, coffee and water is all added on at £50!! 2nd night we ate out, and had an uneventful but noisy nights sleep in the creaky ship style room both evenings. Breakfast was good on 2nd morning, even some cooked bacon and eggs - good for Brits. On leaving, reception would not deduct the 2 breakfasts we didn't have, (and which we said on arrival we didn't want) from the meal ”extras” we did have and want (and which we thought would be included), which seemed highly unreasonable, if not totally intransigent and so left a feel of being pick pocketted, as their rooms and prices are not at the cheap end, nor top drawer as in photo on site. Dinner staff were impeccable, if a tad over attentive, the meal was also very good food, so no complaints there except at 40+ per person wine and coffee (and certainly water) should really be inclusive as is our experience most everywhere in France on priced ”menu” perhaps not en carte. So, not our happiest stop over ever, we felt like minor inconveniences at times, not entirely value for money, hence the average score. Probably would not go back.
Small Luxury Hotel Bergwelt Grindelwald

This hotel is very good and convenient for traveling.
Hotel Maya Caprice

The location is very good, just next to the Wengen station, no need to carry the luggage uphill to find the hotel! The view is also the best, you can see the Jungfrau and several other peaks, the waterfall of Lauterbrunnen can also be seen. Breakfast is average, European hotels are probably like this, nothing to eat. The hotel's own restaurant should be a Michelin-recommended restaurant. The dishes are OK, and you want to eat in advance. Service under the spit, the service attitude of the restaurant is OK, but the service attitude of the hotel front desk check in is really average, extremely arrogant ~

The price is absolutely comparable to its quality, with a direct view of the Jungfrau from the balcony. The only downside is that going uphill to the hotel is a bit laborious, especially in winter. Wengen is better than Regina, but the price is much more expensive. Go to Regina if possible!
