"The hotel itself is beautiful, and the room we stayed in was comfortable. However, our arrival experience was disappointing. We booked through Trip.com and, at check-in, were told that the room we had reserved was much smaller and not what we were expecting. Based on that explanation, we paid an additional fee to upgrade. Later, the hotel explained that the confusion was caused by the room photos used by the booking platform. Regardless of whose mistake it was, as a guest I was placed in a position where I felt I had to pay extra because of conflicting information between the hotel and its booking partner. I believe hotels should work closely with their booking partners to ensure room descriptions and photos are accurate, so guests can make informed decisions before arrival. I hope this process is improved for future guests."

"This hotel's great advantage is its excellent location; it's convenient for getting everywhere. Their breakfast is really good, though the salmon was a bit salty, so be sure to go easy on it. Right across the street from the hotel entrance is a shopping mall, and just a short walk further is the most elegant area of the entire route, with a five-star lake only a three-minute walk away."

"I originally booked a Deluxe City View Room with a balcony for two nights, from the 10th to the 12th. However, due to a canceled overnight train, I needed to check in a night earlier, so I booked a Standard Room for the 9th on the same day, as I would be arriving very late. Since the two bookings were for different room types, I checked out on the 10th and switched to the Deluxe City View Room with a balcony. But I was extremely disappointed! When I entered the deluxe room, I found it was exactly the same as the Standard Room I stayed in last night. So, I went to the front desk to inquire if there had been a mistake. Why were the deluxe and standard rooms identical? The front desk staff member who responded initially said he wasn't entirely sure, as he wasn't a permanent employee there and was just helping out (though his attitude was fine). After several inquiries, he told me that Room 306, which I was in, was indeed a Deluxe City View Room. I pointed out that the pictures on Trip.com showed a balcony, but my room didn't have one. He then told me that only three rooms in the entire hotel have balconies, and those balconies are shared with other rooms! I found this quite absurd! However, there were no other rooms available, and I didn't want to ruin my travel mood, so I reluctantly accepted it. If I hadn't added that extra night in the standard room at the last minute, I wouldn't have had a comparison and wouldn't have encountered this unpleasant experience. I don't know if this is a problem with the platform's information or with the hotel itself!"

"Loved that the staff were nice and helpful. breakfast was lovely and a good spread. The hotel was conveniently located and we could almost walk everywhere. Parking was quite close but I would recommend to drop off your luggage before driving to the parking as walking on cobblestone floors in the rain is definitely an experience of its own. Parking is expensive and not included in the hotel but well it’s in the city centre so I wouldn’t expect anything less. The hotel staff also helped us to store our luggage when we went out on our activities for the day. We stayed here twice! It was only lacking some amenities that I was used to like toothbrushes, slippers, bathrobes and shower caps but the rest were provided"

"We booked a family room for three people, which consisted of two separate rooms separated by a wall. It could sleep 3-4 people, and the bathroom was very spacious. The layout was excellent, and the hotel was very well maintained. The breakfast was fantastic; you can enjoy a delicious breakfast here, and the overall scenery was beautiful. Transportation was also very convenient; it's only about half an hour to the city center, which is near Burigana. I would definitely stay here again next time."

"The hotel has a great location, right near the pier. Although the exterior is European-style architecture, the rooms are modern and simple. The rooms are spacious enough to easily accommodate two large suitcases. Room cleaning was very prompt. The restaurant is indeed beautiful, and the breakfast is quite plentiful. The staff are all warm and attentive. Parking was done in the hotel's recommended parking lot for over 47 hours, costing 467 kronor. I don't know about any discounts, just for your reference."

"The Clarion is right on the water in a convenient location. We were able to take light rail & bus from close to the hotel. Plenty of restaurants & the fish market close by. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. I’d stay at The Admiral again!"

"The hotel boasts a great location, spacious and comfortable rooms, and a slightly older feel. There are many restaurants nearby, including the popular EGON restaurant, and the Bergen Fish Market is right across the street, making shopping convenient. The cable car is a 5-minute walk away, and Bergen train station is about a 10-15 minute walk. The hotel breakfast is plentiful, and if you prefer not to order outside, the hotel also offers complimentary dinner and afternoon tea. However, dinner is rather simple. We stayed at the hotel for four days, and one rainy day we ate dinner there, which was excellent."

At a very central location. I was allowed to check-in earlier since the room was available which is much appreciated. Friendly staff. The room is more like an apartment and has a great view over the city. I booked a reasonable price for Bergen standards which was similar to what other hotels offered for a 8m^2 room, so i felt it's good value for money. It was very clean and wifi was fast. I would appreciate some coffee in the room since there is already a kitchen and everything you might need, although I do understand.

The hotel's location is excellent, right by the harbor, and within walking distance to all the attractions. Our third-floor room offered a view of the colorful houses of Bryggen across the water, though the water itself was blocked by the fish market buildings. Perhaps higher floors would have a direct view of the water. The room was neither big nor too small, and came with a kettle, tea bags, and instant coffee. The shower space was a bit cramped, but the water pressure was decent. The service was great; they were very accommodating. We found the room a bit cold, so we called down for an extra duvet, which was delivered quickly. They also proactively offered to raise our room's maximum temperature setting to 23 degrees Celsius (from the previous 19.5 degrees). We were very comfortable for the rest of our three-day stay.

The old hotel has a vintage feel and a tranquil atmosphere, with many details and historical artworks. It's conveniently located right next to the station. The breakfast is plentiful and varied, and you can enjoy the view and watch people go by from the window.

Cute little hotel in close proximity to the fisherman’s market and about 8 minute walk to Bryggen. Was easy to get to with the airport bus (about 3 minutes from the stop) I was a bit worried about the lack of air conditioning as the weather was quite hot while staying, but it wasn’t a problem. I kept the dial continuously at -5, not sure if that really did anything. Friendly and helpful people working behind the desk at check in and out. Breakfast was a wide assortment of local and western foods. Liked the assortment. There didn’t really seem to be a worker whose job it was to clear tables as that process was slow. But there was space upstairs to eat. Room was very clean with big windows, but can’t see out them as they are stained. Bed was a bit soft for my liking, like really soft and the shower leaked out onto the floor, but I think it’s reasonable considering the other positives and the price point of the hotel. Would definitely consider staying here again if ever in Bergen.

The showerhead in the room was broken, and the cleaning staff should have noticed it during their routine checks, but they didn't. I had to take a cold shower, which is unacceptable for a hotel costing over 2000 NOK a night. The breakfast was also quite poor. I'm not sure why Trip.com prominently features this hotel in Bergen; among all the cities I've stayed in Norway, this one had the highest price and the worst service.

Note: This is a review for Thon Hotel Bristol Bergen where we actually stayed. We were relocated due to unforeseen issues from Thon Hotel Orion. Location: Literally in the center of town and only a 2-minute walk to the harbor and fish market. Although it could get a bit noisy at night as it is located right next to McDonald's. Cleanliness: Cleaning and house keeping were very good. Service: All service staff was courteous, friendly, and professional. Since we were involuntarily relocated to a different location by Thon Hotel due to hotel issues, I must say that the change was smooth and hassle free. Nice! They got me the highest floor which is great, and special type room, love it! Most of the things u need are provided except slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste. I think most rooms can see the pier view. The first night, some birds, maybe, or someone shooting fireworks at my window making loud noises and I can see some flash lights out the window. Scared die me. Food: free breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was great, dinner ok but love breakfast more. Trip.com says the bottle water are free, but in fact they will be charged. I didn’t notice that and took one, before check out, just saw the pricing list(ｰ ｰ;) Location: a bit tricky to find the ENTRANCE! When u see the building, TUR RIGHT! To the right u can find the real entrance( the front one is no longer in use). very convenient, located at the heart of Bergen, the Bergen museum is next to the hotel. The fifth photo is very close to the hotel. A few minutes walk to the mountain tram station. By the way, u can ask the front desk and get the key for accessing the roof top( third and fourth photo)

We stayed at opposite of the main receptionist. Easy to find the location. The hotel not really do the cleaning for my first day check in. The used towel and left over the tissue at toilet. We requested the cleaning services second day. Downstairs do have coffee machine is fee. This is added value point, Very convenience. Nearby train and bus station,

For a tourist without car, it is in excellent location, 7 minutes to railway station to/from airport on foot with luggage n railway ticket just cost nok44 , walking distance to cable station to Floyen mount or Bergenhus or Ferry pier and shops. I reserved a small room but got a room of good size with windows and sofa. There are supporting staff in reception always and they can help me for my enquiries. They can provide electrical kettle at request. Coffee is free in lobby. Breakfast is also good , simple with good choices. I will reserve it if I will visit Bergen again.

Since I wanted a physical room card, I checked in at another Magic Hotel branch. Maybe the occupancy rate was not high, so I was directly upgraded to another Magic Hotel branch for free. The other branch had a bigger room, included breakfast and was closer to the tourist area, very happy with it and really appreciated the upgrade.
