Booked 2 rooms of different categories through trip.com. While checking in, the staff have asked if Tourism Tax has been paid. Checked my booking and these tax has been paid together with the room. He snapped a photo from the app on my phone.
While checking out (we stayed there for 4nights btw), 2 other staff asked us the same question. Do they not have records that these has been paid through third party websites? One of their staffs by the name of Raja Hanis have asked to see the tourism tax invoice, which I found through my email confirmation and have asked me (the hotel guest) to send it her! She said to take her number!
Not sure what their SOPs are like.. Especially when the check in staff have confirmed these things at the beginning of our stay. What has left me speechless was that while checking out, i was demanded by their that lady (Raja Hanis) to send it to her personal mobile number. Bad reflection of their service.
Otherwise, hotel is strategically located. Amenities are ok. Housekeeping did a great job.

Parking are convenient with just a few step to Hotel main entrance. Great welcoming from front desk. Thanks to Christin Loh for time showing us the wonderful art on the lobby area. Few picture taken by us and family especially at one of the art with Harimau design wall. Enter the room with neat bed made up and clean environment. Warm and cozy design with black wall but brighten by light in the room. Entire one night stay was not enough will definitely came again for the next visit to Ipoh. Thanks Christin and Team.

(CNY stay with my 7mo baby)
I'm sorry, but I originally intended to complain about the long queue for breakfast. However, I changed my mind after observing how friendly the waitresses were, even though they were very busy. Unfortunately, one disappointing encounter with the room service staff made me leave a negative review.
When I called the room service and asked for help in freezing my ice pack so that I could store my breastmilk in the car when I travel back home, the staff member told me that there was a chiller in the room. I explained that the chiller couldn't freeze the ice pack, so I needed the hotel's assistance.
To my surprise, the staff member asked me to pack the ice pack nicely and bring it down to reception. It was already 10:30 pm, and I was in my pajamas with my 7-month-old baby. I had to wake her up and carry the ice pack all the way down to reception.
In addition to this negative experience, I also had to queue for breakfast with my baby on both days. I thought that they should open a hall if there weren't enough tables for the guests, but the waitresses were still friendly and welcoming, even though they didn't have a baby chair for the first 10 minutes. Despite this, I never thought of leaving a bad review.
I was disappointed and saddened when I had to walk all the way down to reception at night with a baby, and I don't think that guests should have to do that.

I would personally say that the service this time was good though at first when we got there we had to wait as there were people ahead of us at the check in. First and foremost, the room was good as it had a good view. Besides that, the room provided a good entertaimet tool being the televison and television channel, netflix and youtube. Other than that, the hospitality from the bellboy was also exellent with their good service.

For the price, this is a great hotel. Convenient to in expensive restaurants in walking distance. Free parking. Good internet. Staff is of top standard, close to Tesco and a short walk from a Kinta City Mall. No complaints. For the price, the room are clean and comfortable. Very happy with the bed. Just wished we had some English language channels on the television though. A very big thank you to the staff members of Art Cottage Hotel. They made our stay very comfortable.

A boutique hotel with good room rates. Room’s clean, has vinyl flooring and built-in carpentry is in rather good condition. Bed’s firm and basic toiletries are provided (toothbrush n paste, bath n shower). Clean bedlinens though the towel I had was old with few grey-black stains. Bathroom’s large but the water pressure is slightly Low (our room’s on the 1st level, with Recep at ground). There’s a dim sum restaurant just beside the hotel but we didn’t eat there. A larger food centre is just round the corner, 5-10mins wall away. Good and value for money place to stay even with no options for breakfast.

I didn’t actually stay here but booked a single room for my friend who came to visit. It was indeed a fuss-free but terrific room. Amenities like hairdryer, shower gel, water jug, mug and coffee were provided. Extras like hot and cold water, iron, fridge were all available near the reception. My friend reported that water pressure was excellent and the wifi was strong too. Most importantly, it was super clean. There’s ample parking provided and the hotel security was good too. The staff is pleasant and accommodating. My friend says she will not hesitate to stay here again!

Stayed for 4D3N. Peaceful and quiet location, a good place to rest for the body and mind. Each villa has its own hotspring tub, enjoyable. Food quality at the restaurant was good though abit expensive. Only gave 4* for the service because on the last night there, I requested for a bucket of ice......it took 3 phone calls and a wait of about 1hour and 15mins for it to arrive at my villa, disappointed.

CCh_CHBooked here for quick stop after our Penang trip. There was a convention going on so lots of people and cars when we drove in. The indoor car park was very tight and limited to one floor only. Even the outdoor parking was full, so we had to settle for roadside parking temporarily. Check-in was efficient. While the hotel room was already paid via Trip.com, the reception took a RM50 refundable deposit for incidentals – the other hotels that we booked for this trip did not hold any deposit.
The room was large, lighting well placed, and AC was strong, but both beds had a horrible smell. Had to call reception to change all the sheets, which was done relatively fast.
Not much to eat around there, so we drove out for dinner and came back to less congested parking. The security guard was helpful to get us a parking bay outdoors because our large vehicle was challenged with the tight basement parking.
Breakfast option was actually a good spread. But disappointingly the food and coffee were not kept hot; at best lukewarm. Even the soft-boiled eggs were not done properly.
Overall, a nice hotel with good service staff, marred by bad smelling sheets, limited parking and cold food/coffee.

KKinnie Konga great stay at Meru suites. huge rooms, friendly staff that will go the extra mile for a service for customers. great team, clean rooms as well. Quiet at night making it a wonderful stay.
Only downside is the location as it is situated a 15mins drive away from town, but for such a wonderful stay I would not mind to come back here again.

BBlueberrySoupThe hotel is located in a good place, a short drive to Ipoh City. The room given to us is clean and spacious, basic amenities were sufficient. When we checked in, we were also provided with a ticket to redeem tea during 4pm-6pm, the selection was just sandwiches and corn Kueh. The hotel also provided a RM10 discount voucher to use on their in-house cafe. Breakfast boasts a good variety of foods.

Nneohs2005A buffet offers a good variety of food from malay to Western. I believe that everyone loves it. If I fly to ipoh, I will definitely stay at this hotel again. It is 15 minutes' walk to old town where there are plenty of traditional food and eateries. Can take a bus to go there.
Hotel cleanliness is a plus. EV charging is available at the hotel. There are a lot of car park lots.
WiFi connection is weak.

GGuest UserThis is my honest review. 1. The room: It is clean and comfortable. Lighting could be better as its limited. Bathroom was very clean. Cons: Dressing mirror was dirty and also had a red 'bindi' that hindu females wear on their forehead. Clearly shows the mirror was not cleaned. 2. Price of the room: For its location, I personally feel that it is expensive. This is because for the same price I could get a better deal at 3 4 more hotels in Ipoh city centre which is closer to night live and entertainment. 3. Breakfast was ala carte not buffet. For the price we paid, i honestly expected buffet as that was what was offered in other premises. 4. Parking is available but keep in mind the hotel is part of a shop lot. So the parking is the normal shop lot parkings. 5. Facilities in the room: They do provide tooth brush, tooth paste, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Cons: There were hangers which im not sure if it belongs to the hotel as they were normal colorful hangers. 6. Customer service: Amazing staff. Very presentable.

The availability of amenities like a washing machine and dryer made it easy for us to keep clean during our trip. The Dyson hairdryer was excellent. It would have been even better if there were USB or Type-C chargers available. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. Thank you!

GGuest UserThe room is just like the picture, very warm and clean. It doesn't get hot if the air conditioner is not turned on and the fan is turned on. Even before checking in, I sent an email to the store and called the Internet phone number left on Ctrip. There was no response. I could only contact Ctrip customer service. I was told that the store also contacted Ctrip to ask for our contact information. I don’t know why, but I left it online. What does information do? I feel that this is not very convenient. It is recommended that those checking in must contact us in advance, otherwise the check-in time will be delayed. If you drive by yourself, there are free parking spaces in the apartment building. Take the card given by the store and hold it up at the door, and it will automatically lift the parking lot. Many apartment hotels in Malaysia have similar operations. You just need to contact the store in advance via WeChat. They will send you a bunch of check-in information, but some of them are all in English.

GGuest UserPaloh was a malay & orang asli (“native”) kampung (“village”) that has been around from at least the 18th century. Apparently the names comes from the founder of the village itself Toh Paloh. Paloh, or palung, also means a depression in the ground that holds water, or a fishing hole to catch fish. It is believed that Paloh was also a boat dock in the past. Some other views hold that the Hakka were the founders of Paloh, and only later came the Cantonese. According to this theory, the origin of the name is a symbolic reference to the dams that were constructed along the Kinta River for fishing purposes. These dams were referred to as “Pa-Lo” in the Cantonese dialect and eventually the area became known as Paloh. Paloh today has of course become the heart of the city of Ipoh. In this old part of the city pre-war Shop Houses line the streets, with a predominantly Chinese character. “Sarang” is a malay word meaning nest, hence “Sarang Paloh” means “The Nest in Paloh”, evoking the image of the hotel as a place of rest for the weary traveller. Located on Jalan Sultan Iskandar (formerly Hugh Low Street), Sarang Paloh is located in pre-war two storey shop houses that originally were the premises of a Goldsmith and a Bank more than 90 years ago. The façade of one of the buildings still has the name of the Goldsmiths on its façade in English, Chinese and Malay (jawi script), with the stately bank building still has the name of Overseas-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited on its front. Across the road, Sarang Paloh has another shophouse of which the ground floor has been converted into a carpark. If you have a car, this is where you would park. Parking is complimentary, but you must exercise caution, turning right into the shophouse entrance as Jalan Sultan Iskandar is a pretty high traffic road, and the building inside is quite narrow, with the cars having to be parked bumper to bumper, in two rows. Exit is out through the back of the shophouse into a back lane. Do bear in mind that if the shophouse is full of cars, you may get boxed in by other parked cars and not able to exit! Fortunately this did not happen to us while we stayed here. Getting to the hotel means having to cross the busy road again on foot, with your luggage, from the car to the hotel. The main reception area was in the former Goldsmith’s building, and the entire front of the shop house is dedicated to the reception. To get in the front door, you will need your access card, or the staff inside will have to let you in, if you have yet to check in. The central part of shop house is a courtyard with a spiral staircase going upstairs to the 2nd floor, and in the back is a sort of pantry area with dining table. Staircase at the back also leads upwards. We had booked a room at the back of the shophouse on the 2nd floor, as we were aware of reviews that rooms in front may have some street noise. GGuest UserLocation of hotel is ok and not noisy caused by public strangers as there is no restaurant or other shop lots nearby. Ample of parking space very good. Receptionists are polite. They have hot&cold water dispenser in the pantry.
Came to my surprise that this hotel lobby and parking is at a higher floor so my room is at lower floor, perhaps lone traveller may be worried when they first came here huhu.
Room toilet is spacious, water flow very strong. Except they don’t provide tooth brushing kit and hairdryer.
Just wanted to comment on the dim lighting from staircase to alley to room. One of the ceiling light from my room is not working when I checked in, feedback to receptionist and they are so kind to bring a new one but by that time the light suddenly turned on so I rejected them to change for me.
The room door lock is broken, maybe owner can fix it ?
Suitable for short stay. If you expect a luxury stay maybe this is not your choice.

NNurasyikin ZI stayed at the Premier room (2 King beds). Everything looked okay at first, cleaned and spacious. Room was enough to fit 4 adults and 2 small kids at one time. But when i tried to use the tap and shower in the toilet, looks like the heater was not functioned. When i tried to use the standing shower, it got burst immediately and the tube spout connecting to the tap fell off. I had to use the shower near the bathtub instead. Then when my husband tried to use the electric kettle, boom, all power off due to power trip. We called up the reception and they sent a technician immediately, he was surprised to know that the wiring was not done correctly, and was not safe at all. Knowing that the wiring and shower work will take some time, and we couldn't be moved to another room due to unavailability. We had no choice but to leave the room because 1. my baby needs hot water for his milk, 2. we havent had dinner. We headed back to hotel right after dinner, and thank god they managed to complete all the work. Shower and wiring were fixed accordingly and the heater finally worked. Breakfast? The Chinese fried rice was very plain in taste. Even my 2 year old baby refused to eat it. Same goes to the rice porridge- tasteless. Fried meehoon was okay. I'd rather have a simple selection of tasty breakfast, rather than having a variety of food but tasteless. The only credits i would vie was to the front desk officer and technician. butI'm not recommending this hotel, avoid if you may.
