We chose this hotel as part of the Turkish Airlines Istanbul stopover program. It was a very good experience and definitely a place I would return to in the future. First, we were greatly helped with a booking mistake I'd made, by a lovely young receptionist named Gizem. Gizem was intelligent, spoke good English and worked to solve our problem quickly. I really appreciated her service orientation toward tired travelers who had just come off a red-eye flight. The hotel itself was quite lovely and very "Turkish" in it's ornate style. Our room was simple, spacious, clean and well-equipped. The breakfast buffet was ample (although we would have appreciated more protein options. (Ordering an omelet cost another $3, which seemed odd as most hotels include eggs on order as a part of the buffet). We liked the Topkapi location which is just around the corner from the historic walls surrounding Istanbul. A short walk takes you back into history and into a large park you can stroll through. Topkapi is a bit away from the busier, touristy Sultanhamet neighborhood, but it was suprisingly easy to get around by tram. We were able to do all the sightseeing we wanted to do on public transit with no mishaps. (Do avoid buses if possible as these get stuck in traffic and become quite hot/over-crowded). The gym was well-equipped, but unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use the lovely pool area as it needed maintenance. That was our one disappointment. I would definitely return to the Eresin Topkapi and hope to get a chance for another stopover in Istanbul in the future.
