I wish there were a 3.5 rating. Or a 3.75, as I would give that. The staff are really friendly and we REALLY enjoyed walking around the grounds. We are outdoorsy types (husband and me plus a small poodle) and we ate 3 meals outside at the tables on the premises (there are 3 different spots to choose from), thanks to the lovely early June weather; so, so nice! There is a short stroll one can take along a marsh/beaver pond and oodles of grass to enjoy, as others were doing too. I never saw a mosquito. I did not use the pool after I chased 3 ducks out of it...but it was nice and warm. When we checked in, we noticed a strong musty smell in our room; I have allergies, so we asked to move to another room, but it was close to Princess Street, which is quite noisy and offsets the quiet and peace of this place (a Cardinal sang right outside our window...the grounds are so large and natural). However, this room was also musty and unfortunately, before we went to sleep, hubby closed two of the 3 windows so I woke up early, stuffed up. We later noticed that all of the rooms had opened their large front windows, so perhaps they were musty too? The room was cosy (we had the Queen) and hubby did some grumbling about the size, but it was clean, bed was good, and it was handy to use the mini-fridge, microwave and plates and glasses etc. And as another reviewer has said, this IS a motel, not really an Inn…convenient for parking but nothing fancy. We drank a lot of the Nespresso coffee available at reception because the coffee in the tiny coffee maker in the room ******. Unsure if would stay here again due to the musty smell.
