Brunton Boatyard - a CGH Earth Experience

Truly, truly beautiful!

I contacted the hotel by email over 6 months before arrival requesting a sea view room and to be at the opposite side to the very noisy ferry that docks directly alongside the hotel. The hotel stated that they had rooms available. Two weeks prior to arriving I again repeated my room request by email. In both emails I stated that I was happy to pay any price premium over the standard room. On arrival we were given a non sea facing room and the room could not be nearer to the ferry which runs constantly from 6am to 10pm. The noise from the ferry causes noise and vibration in the near room. Despite my complaints the only concession I received was another room away from the ferry. I was not given a sea facing room. The excuse was that there was a conference starting the day we departed from the hotel. The manager was very ineffectual asking me to forward the emails that I had sent previously. I did this without any response. The hotel was not busy with guests on the two nights we stayed, the restaurant was again not busy. The inner garden area and tea room were sectioned off and a large marquee was being erected. The hotel did not notify that facilities were unavailable owing to the oncoming Conference. The staff at the swimming pool did not approach us to ask if we needed any drink etc during a 2 hour period of relaxing on sunbeds. Having stayed at the hotel previously in 2008 I was disappointed by the decline of management and booking staff. They spoilt my previous good memory and current stay at the hotel. I will not stay again.

Spent 3 days at Brunton and enjoyed every single minute of being at the property. Located in Fort Kochi, Brunton is next door to Fort kochi water metro station and the ferry point. The property is very neat and clean and staff is very freindly. The restaurants, Armoury and History located within the hotel are brilliant. Special mention for Kevin and Abin at the restaurant. The breakfast spread was amazing with chef's special for the day ***** with south indian idli-dosa, choice of eggs, breads and what not. Totally loved the breakfast and choices it offered. I opted for the sea facing room which came with a balcony and bathroom overlooking the sea. The complimentary heritage walk around Fort Kochi and the sunset cruise organised by the hotel should not be missed. All in all a beautiful experience. Can't wait to go back to this property again.

Excellent old world colonial charm. The property is gorgeous and extremely well maintained. Service is very good and the food and restaurants have a great mix of continental fusion as well as local food. Ideal location in fort kochi a short drive away from the jewish settlement area. The hotel has complimentary high tea in the evening from 5pm onward s followed by a complimentary 1 hour sunset cruise on a boat around kochi harbour. The rooms are big and spacious with a nice sit out facing the harbour. The amenities are fresh tea and coffee with a tea pot and french press in the room and the coffee / tea are bottled. Its indeed refreshing to see a hotel stocking good quality tea and coffee in room instead of sachets and tea bags. Well done!

Bruton Boatyard overlooking the sea at Kochi Forts blends traditional Kerala architecture with modernity eloquently. The rooms are excellent providing a feel of ethnic Kerala. View of ships, boats and ferry floating over the mass of water from the room is an amazing experience. Staff at the hotel will pamper you with hospitality. The complimentary sunset Kochi harbour cruise is an out of the world experience. Overall quality of neatness in every nook and corner of the hotel is exceptional.

This is my second stay in Brunton Boatyard. A beautiful heritage property with a lovely pool facing the jetty. Amazing food and good service. They have a complimentary heritage walk and evening high tea. When weather is good they provide a sunset cruise

A lovely hotel with just about the best outlook you can ever get-overlooking the Arabian Sea and the entrance to Lake Vembanad, the largest lake in Kerala. An heritage looking hotel with all the mod cons one would ever want. The service by the staff is outstanding. Within walking distance are some very good lunch/dinner options. Overall a professionally managed 5 star hotel. Highly recommended.

Excellent hotel in the middle of Fort Kochi, fantastic food, beautifully restored piece of history. Can easily walk or take a rickshaw to all Fort Kochi sights from here. The staff was wonderful - especially in the restaurants. The front desk could’ve been more accommodating, pushed us for early checkout despite numerous requests since we were travelling with kids and then took their time with generating bills making us wait. They also didn’t have too many suggestions on must see sights - so a well informed concierge would be a good idea. The spa was small but good and we received a wonderful Ayurvedic massage there.
