Hotels near Capela do Monte, Lagos

We were extremely disappointed with the quality of room for the price. It is priced at over €300 per night and the bedrooms don’t even have windows with natural light. The pool gets strangely deep in less than a meter, I would not recommend for a family with younger kids. The general feel is that investment has been put into the lobby and front area but then the tiles are coming off the pool and one day the ledge of the pool fell off. The air con in the rooms was good, however if the kids were in bed, you couldn’t sit on the balcony as the fan for the the a/c is on the balcony so it was too warm to sit there. The rooms which were renovated were nice but we had to fight to get one after 4 days. It was only thanks to Joao that it happened, who seemed to the only proactive person behind the seat. All in all I think this is average accommodation which is charging hugely above its price range given its quality and standard.

From the very beginning when we arrived at this Hotel 23rd September 2022 the lady on the Reception was very professional and welcoming. We arrived just after 12.00 hrs and the lady advised that our room may not be ready but she still made a telephone call to housekeeping. Unfortunately it was not ready but we were able to store our cases and go and explore. When we returned back the room was ready, the porter took our cases to the room and it was perfect, room 31 overlooking the pool, very clean, modern and well equipped for our needs. The following morning the breakfast was amazing and I mean amazing I have never seen a hotel accomodate every taste it was absolutely fantastic. I cannot comment on the restaurants available because we like to eat out to taste the culture of the area we are visiting. The pool area looked lovely but we are not pool people we like exploring but that is our choice. We did on return from our days out sit on our balcony which was spacious and had a lovely view of the pool. In the mornings we did see how the hotel pay attention to detail with the cleaners out cleaning the beds and pool area. We did have a drink the bar area one evening which was reasonably priced and it is a lovely area to relax. I would have no problem in recommending this hotel to my friends and family in fact we are looking to book again next September.

The hotel is located on a very quiet street in the city center. Simple but very practical. Breakfast is served in your room (covid reason) Good bedding and wifi works well. A small balcony decorates the whole. Good address to visit Lagos. But be careful not to stop. There are only 2 luggage storage offices at the beginning of the street (30m from the hotel) There are a few vacant places on the street...but the space is full, full Parking on the boulevard along the canal 600m from the hotel costs 12 Euros/day.

The hotel is located in a remote area and is not easy to find by taxi. There is construction going on next to the hotel, so it is quite noisy and not many people are staying there. The advantage is that it is very close to the beach. Also, the check-in time should not be too late.

This is our third stay at Solar de Mos, although due to Covid and my partner’s ill health we haven’t been back for a while. We missed it. Why is that…well it offers a friendly, relaxing environment, not too far, but far enough away, from the bustle of the town centre. The new wings offer excellent quality rooms which are well kept and very clean. And parking is easy outside in the side street. There is a small bar if one wants a night-cap after a dinner down town and the breakfast offers a selection including some hot items, which is fine in the climate. All of that is good but it wouldn’t make for a happy holiday if the staff weren’t friendly. And that is where Solar de Mos excels. From check-in to check-out everyone was kind and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble, and it’s the main reason we will continue to come here when next in Lagos. Please be careful with what kind of accommodation you book, I made the mistake of booking a “twin room” for my elderly parents, it was the most basic of rooms and the only outside space was a tiny triangle of patio at the front of the flat (see pics) my parents had to ask for seats so they could sit out there. Again this is my fault NOT the hotel but I thought I needed to add this in for people who might be thinking of booking the budget room. Cons - The restaurant - if you want to eat at the restaurant you won’t be able to see what’s available on the menu until you have been seated, which can lead to embarrassment if like myself you're allergic to onions and everything on the menu seemed to contain onion so I had to get up in front of everyone and explain to the staff why I was leaving! I asked if there was an alternative which there was but was told if I wanted this I had to pay, having already paid for half board accommodation I found this to be very unfair as it’s an allergy not a choice.! I would suggest that in future to save any embarrassment you would put up the evenings menu where people can make a choice before entering the restaurant. The room itself was very basic no kettle meaning no options to make yourself a drink when wanted. The shower screen was leaking, had someone come out to fix this twice but it was still leaking and so had to keep putting towels on floor. No shuttle bus from hotel to town/beach as advertised on their website. Apparently it finished at the end of their season which isn’t what it said when I booked the holiday and the hotel was fully booked so really can’t understand why it wasn’t running. As other people have stated in these comments the pool chairs were filthy there were some really awful ones full of black stuff!! Pros- A choice of 2 swimming pools, the complex as a whole was very nice like a little village. The reception staff were very helpful and polite.

I would love to give this place a poor review to put people off going so I could keep it for myself but that would be doing the staff a real disservice. I can't fault this place at all- the place was spotless inside and out and the rooms were well equipped with fridge ,safe and air conditioning and lovely hot showers. The breakfast had something for everyone and changed each day. The staff are the real star of the show though and nothing is too much trouble. We mentioned we were looking for worry beads and the next thing we knew one of the waitresses at breakfast went across the street and brought back a selection for us to choose from and purchase from the shop opposite. Special mention to Ioanna who was so friendly and up for a laugh she really made our holiday. Great Central location but quiet with a lovely small pool and pool area. Can't wait to come back!

The regulation is to check in at 6 o'clock in the evening, we arrived at 3 o'clock, and we were also checked in. A resort-like hotel with new facilities and a well-maintained appearance. The front desk and the concierge speak good English, and most of the guests are British. The room is very spacious. The kitchen on the first floor is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, pots and pans, a large dining room and balcony, a guest bathroom, and a large terrace. On the ground floor there are two bedrooms, each with a bathroom. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows is a small yard, connected to the next-door unit. You can walk directly from the green belt to the swimming pool. Children like the swimming pool very much, and there is a kiosk next to it for coffee and drinks. If I have a chance in the future, I will come again. To go to the beach, you can drive by yourself or take the hotel shuttle. The quality of salema beach itself is also very good, there are public toilets, small and beautiful beach.

My wife and I booked 7 nights in Montemar and I must say it has been a delight. It offers what you can expect from a 3 star hotel. The reception and staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, large enough and have a nice outside terrace. The WiFi works great so no qualms there. When we put the card out, our room was thoroughly cleaned. The only point I would improve is the breakfast area which is quite small. But all in all for the price a very good deal if you want to stay in Lagos.
