Marcoola Beach Resort

We stayed in Unit 10, it was nothing short of disgusting. Extreme mould in the tile grout in ensuite shower, very rusty toilet roll holders, very mouldy curtains and blinds, filthy range hood filters, the kitchen bin was mouldy when you lifted out the bag, the inside of the windows had kids greasy handprints all over them, one arm chair had its guts hanging on the floor underneath it, there was someone's dirty socks between the cushions on the couch and under the cushions there was heaps of grime and food crumbs. No dustpan and when I asked the manager for one, he said there isn't one use the vacuum cleaner and there was lots more. I told him and a receptionist about the mould and lack of cleanliness, Care factor was zero.

We were taking our friends on a four holiday to relax & enjoy together. The experience was embarrassing, my friend spent most of her time cleaning! This room has not had a proper clean for a very, very long time- all surfaces had sticky, dirty grime over them. Glass tables were smeared with dirt, grime & fingerprints, underneath & on top. Bedside lamps were broken, curtains hanging off the rods. Kitchen cupboards haven’t been wiped out in years, minimal crockery/cutlery, a dangerous broken drinking glass on the shelf, pots & pans with burnt & peeling Teflon coatings, baking dishes with old baked on burnt residue. grey towels, 1 tea towel for 4 days which we had to use as a cleaning cloth! Carpets were unvacuumed and stained. Lifts were grubby as well! Obviously there are no room & contents checks completed between guest stays but they are super quick to get their payment up front before your stay! The best part of the stay was observing the migrating whales off the coast and they came for free!

Unit 10 although very roomy smelt like dogs lived in the room, it was an awful smell. Complained to the person on reception who was disinterested. I have taken photos of the dirt on the furniture, smears on microwave, fridge, mirrors etc. Went to coles and purchased cleaning products to clean floors and bring the standard to a liveable condition. Doona in the main bedroom also smelt like dogs. Drawers were dirty, some pillows in cupboard were old and yellow/stained, some pillowslips had not been washed. Broken furniture in 3rd bedroom cupboards. Floors not vacuumed and outside area, which was a lovely large area was extremely dirty. The surrounding gardens were lovely as was the outside atmosphere. Would not recommend staying in this Unit 10 which is a large 3 bedroom unit with a lot of potential if it was looked after and cleaned.
