Hotels near Calanques National Park, Marseille

This - kind of - does what it says on the tin. A decent room in a great location with breakfast places if you turn both left and right (and a Lidl just up the hill). Also Le44 next door is a nice eatery. The bathroom is, in theory, well thought out, roomy with enough either side of the basin to put vanity bags. But, the shower heads (I presume) have been changed and don't fit into the holders so you have to be creative with how you have a shower. There is no plug in the sink. The beds (2 singles) have mattresses that are larger than the bedstead, so if you put too much weight on the edge of the mattress, you are liable to topple out of the bed. We had room 107 and in the corridor outside there was a leak from the ceiling for the duration of our 3 night stay, the water was captured in a bucket, which was regularly changed but we could monitor the increased frequency of the dripping. The stairs up to first floor smelled old, uncleaned and a couple of items of litter remained in situ for the duration of our stay. This hotel could be so much more and needs an overhaul.

Value for money was great. The room was very clean and kitchenette was complete. But the refrigerator wasn’t working at all…so we couldn’t keep anything cold. Air-conditioning was very effective and quiet. Location was not great, but good — it was super near Gare Saint-Charles, but around a 10-15min walk to the Old Port. Nevertheless, I would recommend this aparthotel.

Really nice! I loved how you can have your own space by closing the curtain. The beds didn't make any noise or movements when you climb into the upper bed. Maybe a small improvement: sign for where the reception/checkin is or some arrows. Overall had a nice stay, very cozy place and clean and good working services

Although our stay was fine, we had a very bad experience. My brother-in-law forgot his tablet in his room. He had left it on the floor near the wall and in the morning upon drawing the curtains open the tablet was hidden behind so he didn't see it. Arriving in our next hotel destination (Villeneuve-Loubet) he realized the tablet was left in Toyoko-Inn. He immediately called the hotel and the security guy told him no tablet was found. He went to personally check the room that happened to be empty as no guest was in that room that night. He then told my brother-in-law he didn't find anything. We called the hotel again the following day and we got the same answer. We sent an e-mail to the hotel manager only to get the same answer. Since there was no other guest in that room it seems that only people from the hotel entered it. We can not believe a tablet can vanish without a human intervention so we suspect that somebody from the hotel found it but didn't deliver it to the reception. This matter ruined the remaining days of our vacation and left a bitter taste in our mouths. I sent a complaint to the Tourism Office in M****illes but they couldn't answer me as they are on public holidays! So, if you stay in that hotel double and triple check your room before you leave because if something valuable is forgotten it's more than certain it won't be recovered or compensated.

Very good hotel. The room was clean, fairly large and well furnished. We had a view of the city. There was a walk-in shower that was quite modern and functional. The bed was very comfortable. The reception staff was quite helpful. The breakfast is not worth the price, in my opinion. Although fair for the amount of food provided, this looked not particularly typical of France and M****ille, especially for the cakes and croissants that were nothing special in honesty. Further, I personally do not like to get coffee from automated machines in hotels as they can taste rather watery, especially if going for a decaf option, plus there is no way to get a cappuccino done with non diary milk alternatives. Given that there are a number of local patisseries, boulangeries, local cafés and even a Starbucks coffee at walking distance from the hotel, there are plenty of alternatives, some of which offer experience of local taste for the same price or less. Hotel location is fantastic, as stated above very central, in a relatively safe area, at a short walk from main attractions, cafés, great restaurants, and just behind ”le panier”, and 10 mins walk to the port vieux.

Excellent reception, friendly staff, excellent bed comfort , the cleaning of the bathroom can be better done. The nearness of public transport and shopping centres makes a hotel to be recommended without hesitation.

What makes this place special are the people. Yes, it is modern, tastefully designed and immaculate with great access to public transport and a couple of local treasures, the front desk with Tata, Tania and Sujata, complete with broad smiles and great local knowledge are a compliment to manager Emmanuel and Mr Fixit, Julian.

It is not a hotel but an aparthotel-type residence and there was no room cleaning service. When I went to ask they told me that cleaning was only done every 4 days and since we were 3, no one did the room or the bathroom during our stay. They offered me cleaning products so I could clean it myself. I was stunned. They didn't even have a bottle of cold water and it was very hot. The receptionists are very unprofessional. The breakfast was very complete but there was no toaster. I do not recommend at all. And they say they have 4 stars.

The hotel itself was ok. And the breakfast spread was quite nice. But a couple of problems: when we got to the room there was no toilet paper (or facial tissues). We picked some TP up from the front desk. Then when we went out, we put the “do not disturb” sign out. They came in anyway and remade the bed, but still didn’t bring any facial tissues. But the worst thing is we scheduled a shuttle to the nearby Vitrolles train station for 8:40. The train on Sat comes once an hour, so should have been plenty of time to catch the 9am train. Well the shuttle didn’t show up until about 8:54, and we missed the train. Tue annoying thing is I asked the front desk lady when the shuttle would arrive and she told me two minutes. If it had really been two minutes we would have made it. Or if she told me it would be late we could have walked (it’s like a 10- minute walk). Instead I’m sitting here waiting for an hour for the next train, so I figured I would write a review with all this extra time…
