It's a historical hotel with a long history. You can feel the traditions of Japan.
They provide great service. Even though you it's a super old hotel, but it's very clean and tidy inside.
They have done the renovation so you don't feel that old.
That means you can feel the history but super clean and tidy.

Excellent traditional ryokan experience. Wonderful dinners and breakfasts every day, and the private reservable onsen was exactly what we were looking for. The area does require a cab ride from downtown Matsumoto but the very attentive staff asked every day when we would like the cab to arrive, making it easy to get back into town. Also being this far out meant it was a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Great stay, would absolutely go back.

The facility is very old due to its history, but it was well maintained and felt clean. However, the whole inn is cold anyway! There is not a single stove in the hallway or toilet. I caught a cold on the way home. The food was delicious for dinner, but the presentation and color were ordinary. Is this the only breakfast? I felt. How about having salmon flakes to accompany the rice? And 40 minutes for a private bath is too short. It should be at least an hour.
