Mountain View Hotels in Chengde

Our stay at Shanhai Premium Guesthouse was an incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating experience! The mountain surroundings were absolutely breathtaking, with fresh crisp air that immediately washed away all our city stress. The room was cozy and well-designed, featuring traditional Chinese elements blended with modern amenities. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, always ready to help with any requests. The location was perfect for exploring the Wuling Mountain area, and we loved waking up to the sound of birds and seeing the misty mountain views every morning. The hiking trails nearby were well-maintained and offered stunning views of the landscape. Although it was a bit remote, that was exactly what we were looking for - a true escape from urban life. The local breakfast was delicious and featured fresh, organic ingredients from the area. We particularly enjoyed the evening stargazing, as the night sky was crystal clear away from city lights. This place is absolutely perfect for couples seeking a romantic getaway or anyone looking to reconnect with nature. We would definitely recommend this hidden gem to all our friends and family, and we plan to return again in the different seasons to experience the changing beauty of the mountains. The boss, who speaks good english, picked me up from the Gubeikou station, we stopped to buy some snacks and water and then he took me to the start of Panlongshan trail. He told me directions to get to Jinshanling. Pretty straightforward, hard to go wrong, just follow the spraypaint and ribbons. After sunset I texted him and he picked me up at Jinshanling. Very delicious home cooked dishes, both dinner and breakfast, huge portions, cold beer!  The room was big, comfy and modern, great mattress and bedding. The bathroom was big and modern with different controls for a nice shower.  In the morning (4am) the boss arranged local transport to get to and from Jinshanling for sunrise. Don't miss it, the sun rising over an empty wall; hardly anyone around. The hotel is  just a 5 minutes drive from the ticket station. I wish i could give more stars. Great memories! The combination of Panlongshan and Jinshanling is like a 100 times better then Badaling. Very easy to organise with the train and overnight stay. And this is the best hotel to do it.

The views are fantastic! On the day of departure, the front desk even sent a text message with directions for driving there, which was incredibly thoughtful and considerate. It took about two hours to drive from Beijing to the hotel. We pre-registered our car and were able to park it in the parking lot. They even have fast-charging stations. We also pre-booked the public hot spring and enjoyed the Eye Stone hot spring. The breakfast quality was also excellent. I highly recommend coming here for the experience!

I booked a double queen room for this trip, and honestly, I didn't have high expectations, but I was genuinely surprised the moment I opened the door. It's perfectly spacious for a family of four and more cost-effective than booking two separate rooms. The room was bright and roomy, and the cleanliness was impeccable. All the toiletries were disposable, which gave me peace of mind. The kids loved it too! The surrounding area is bustling with plenty of dining options. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Spring, summer, autumn and winter like to walk the grassland, like the extremely real nature atmosphere, after returning from the last Inner Mongolia grassland, considering the short May Day holiday, to reserve some rest time, I chose Fengning, which is close to Beijing, before traveling, booked this Squirrel Inn in Trip.com , And I contacted the front desk in advance because I was worried that the two rooms could not be guaranteed. The service awareness of the front desk staff is very, very good. The ability to empathize with the guests surprised me. I was not old and I could think in front of my thoughts every step. Due to the changeable weather in the May 1 grassland, it is recommended to stay one night and one night. On the road, I went out of Beijing... I chose the half tiger line, passing through Yunzhong Grassland, the first day of Beijing North Road, Qiansongba National Forest Park... I stopped and stopped, and went to ”Mazhen” (there are many activities here in June and July), Datan Town (the pastoral area that lives very close to here) on the edge of the Bashang Grassland Squirrel Inn, The Squirrel Inn is right at the entrance of the colorful forest, where there are bonfire parties, singing and entertainment, and eating lamb in the peak season. Now is the off-season, I want to let children taste the pastoral area, in the national development plan, the natural scenery and living environment when the spring is cold, feel a lot... (omitted) The little sea girl at the front desk of the hotel and her colleagues, like on the phone, should be described as ”sympathetic” thoughtfulness, not without border enthusiasm (like). They turned on the heating of the room type we may choose in advance, because the weather is still winter, so she is very lucky. Before traveling, she also suggested to bring down jackets (when I arrived, I knew that this was a necessity, not an option), and what items brought about by the current season's characteristics and seasonal policies could not be The experience is very clear, and we plan and expect it. I think it is more valuable to enjoy the ”limited” that each travel environment can provide. Sometimes lack is more valuable than anything... After giving away tickets for colorful forests, The charging items are also introduced very clearly by the way (horse riding, in-housing car, camel, etc.) The accommodation is complete and I don't think there is anything to complain about. On May 1st the next day, the grassland snowed, the mist drifted in the grassland and Yuandai, and the snowflakes were overbearing... Adding the most authentic pastoral life sense, thanking the guests of this hotel may be worry-free, I hope that the local herdsmen and these lovely people are also getting happier and happier, and the country is rich and strong... Squirrel Inn accommodation, my understanding is in a typical vast grassland village, ten minutes to the food street of Datan Town, if you want to experience the feeling of the grassland pastoral area, I highly recommend the accommodation choice of Squirrel Inn, compared to living in the town, I prefer here... Had a fantastic stay! The hotel staff were all incredibly professional and had excellent attitudes. The room was spotless and very tidy. The hotel breakfast was also delicious and offered a wide variety. There's a Chinese restaurant on the second floor where you can grab lunch and dinner. The hotel's location is superb, very close to the Mountain Resort and other attractions. Right next to the hotel is a famous night market with a rich assortment of stalls. The restaurants nearby are also very comprehensive, offering a chance to try Chengde's local specialties.

This was without question one of the most beautiful and memorable stays I have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Their kindness, warmth, and attention to detail were exceptional throughout our stay. Every interaction felt sincere and heartfelt, which made the experience even more special. The property itself is stunning. Surrounded by mountains and nature, it offers a peaceful atmosphere that feels like a true escape from everyday life. The infinity pool was absolutely breathtaking—especially at sunset. Swimming while overlooking the mountains felt like something from a dream. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail had clearly been carefully considered, and the views from the room were spectacular. The breakfast and afternoon tea were another highlight. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and presented with great care. More importantly, you could feel the effort and hospitality behind every meal. It wasn’t just food—it was an experience that reflected the passion and dedication of the team. What truly sets this place apart is the people. The staff consistently went above and beyond to make sure every guest felt cared for and at home. I have stayed in many hotels and guesthouses, but this place is truly special. If you are looking for beautiful scenery, tranquility, exceptional service, and a memorable experience, I cannot recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be returning in the future.

We were scared of large crowds at the wall, and followimg many online recommendation we found the Jinshanling section. This hotel is at the great location a short walk from the mid enterance to the wall section, the Gubeikou train station is also very reachable from the Beijingbei (North) train station. It is also quite affordable to reach the place by Didi (550 yuan from the Beijing airport). The place is clean, and the food really stands out as quite amazing, the prices are also very low, for room and food. Just tell the owner you would want a breakfast and you will be served one first thing in the morning. The ladies are also super nice and very hospitable to the foreign turists.

This is my second time staying at this hotel, and the environment is as quiet and beautiful as ever. The facilities are complete, the rooms are clean and hygienic, and the breakfast offers a rich and delicious variety. The staff are also incredibly warm and attentive. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking, and you can even spot many cute little animals. I'll most likely be back to stay again~!

Location is unbeatable!! The hotel is right before the entrance gate to the Jinshanling Great Wall cable car station and trail heads. You can actually hike up to good view points on the Great Wall injust 30-40 minutes. The hotel is in good condition. The room is mostly clean and well maintained. The AC works well. Toilet has a weird smell but didn't bother me that much. Wish they provided conditioner (only shampoo and shower gel were in the bathroom). Restaurant has many options for Chinese dishes and so is the buffet breakfast. If I come back, definitely book it again for the excellent location.
