You can climb a small hill to the observation deck to enjoy the breeze, bask in the sun on a lounge chair, watch ducks swimming in the water, and see bubbles bursting in the sun. There's also a big, spoiled dog. The cafe is perfect for playing chess and reading. It's a perfect place to lie down and daydream. Falling asleep under the starry sky with the sound of gurgling water is quiet and comfortable. A light rain in the morning brings another scene. The breakfast is simple but delicious, especially the pickled vegetables I pickled myself. I like it here and will come again.

Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail had clearly been carefully considered, and the views from the room were spectacular. The breakfast and afternoon tea were another highlight. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and presented with great care. More importantly, you could feel the effort and hospitality behind every meal. It wasn’t just food—it was an experience that reflected the passion and dedication of the team. What truly sets this place apart is the people. The staff consistently went above and beyond to make sure every guest felt cared for and at home. I have stayed in many hotels and guesthouses, but this place is truly special. The hotel's location is pretty good, and the surroundings are very quiet. It's only about a 19-minute drive to Jinshanling Great Wall. However, the Jinshanling exit on the G45 Beijing-Chengde Expressway is closed, so you have to take a detour. When there are fewer guests, breakfast is served individually with generous portions. When it's busy, they open a buffet with a wider variety of options. The room was spacious, great for families. But there were a lot of ladybugs (or 'stink bugs' as some call them) that somehow got into the room; we had to clear them out as soon as we checked in. The bathroom drain was clogged, so the facilities definitely need some maintenance. It's probably okay for a 1-2 night stay.

This stay at the Holiday Inn Express exceeded my expectations. Before coming to Chengde, I did a lot of research, and my previous experiences at Holiday Inn Express hotels elsewhere had them feeling quite old. So, I was a bit hesitant when booking this one, but it turned out to be surprisingly good! The hotel has been recently renovated, so the facilities are very new, everything is clean, and the service is attentive. The location is excellent, making it convenient to get everywhere, and there are all sorts of restaurants, big and small, nearby, so dining is a breeze.
