Attending a wedding here at this beautiful venue. The venue itself is nicely done out with lovely surrounds and the staff we encountered were all friendly and efficient. Bar prices for spirits are ridiculous but pints are what you would expect to pay. Breakfast was amazing and great service also. Food at the wedding was really good and the staff were excellent. Docking a point as the room was underwhelming. We paid a lot of money for the room but the walk in shower smelled of drains, there was a lot of dust, nowhere to hang a towel in the bathroom, coat hook that was so low the coat was half on floor in bedroom, hairdryer provided but no plug besides the mirror to plug it in. Would certainly recommend for a wedding, rooms could do with some TLC as some are much nicer than others. Ours had beams that if you were 6ft plus you had to be careful not to smack your head off them and due to the roof, the bed is under a slant so you have to be careful whilst in bed also to avoid a whack.

We paid quite a lot of money for a courtyard room, while staying over for a colleague's wedding. The room was dirty, dusty, foisty smelling and freezing cold. There was white fluid spattered up the wall, a family of large spiders behind the curtains, cobwebs all over the rustic stone walls. The bathroom door locked from the outside (?) and there wasn't really anywhere to put the kettle safely, other than to balance it on a precarious bedside table. The TV remote didn't work and the breakfast was laughably poor given how extortionately expensive it was. We were very disappointed, given how much we paid for a single night.

We visited last week for tea and coffee to be told this was fine & to. sit within one of the two front rooms (both of which were dirty with food from previous meals). The next thing we knew we were being told to leave as it was for exclusive use only, we were not invited to stay to finish our drinks. The person who told us was rude and had no CS skills. If she was management she was a terrible first line of welcome and needs training. The hotel itself is horrendous in decoration with no theme and certainly NOT boutique.. Avoid at all costs.

We stayed here on the 29th June 24. Our room was the Sukiji room. The room was absolutely filthy and disgusting. The walls are all marked with handprints, scuffs, muck, dust and holes in the walls. The windows are filthy. The carpets were worn and discoloured plus were covered in bits. The bedframe was thick of dust debris and dead insects ( see pics). The decking is worn, the doorframe is all broken, the plants are dead. But.. the worst room was the bathroom. It is shockingly bad. There was thick dust on the shower, cobwebs in the shower, scum all over the tiles, hairs everywhere and thick black mold/dirt. It hasn’t been cleaned properly in months. Honestly it was shocking. We tried calling the out of hours number to complain 3 times but no one answered. Nobody to speak to on reception. We complained the next morning but I didn’t receive any call so I emailed management who said they had viewed the pics and agreed it was shockingly bad but they never called me back and ignored my emails. I have f been offered any money back from the £250 I paid for the room. I want to warn other guests about this hotel and it’s not fair to sell rooms in this condition. The hotel state they are five star. I couldn’t even rate this room one star. Please see the pics and I’m sure you will agree. DONT waste your money staying here.

We stayed in a garden room which had a huge sofa, small kitchen area and a small garden with hot tub, garden seats and patio. Beautifully presented and spotless. Food at the joiners for both dinner and breakfast outstanding. Special thanks to Jackie Boustead for her amazing help making this evening possible. Fabulous customer service from all staff Starting with the girls at check in to the staff at the Joiners. Can’t wait to return

I haven’t stayed at this hotel, this review is about their cancellation policy and customer service. I booked 2 rooms for July 2026 to attend a family wedding which has unfortunately been cancelled as the couple have split up. We knew that the hotel refused to refund the couple anything they had paid and presumably this was part of the contract they signed. However I would have expected to be refunded my room deposit of £50 when I cancelled the booking TWO YEARS IN ADVANCE! But no! No refund it’s the policy! I have stayed in hotels for business and pleasure all over the UK and I have never know such a policy? I was not informed at the time of booking that it was a non refundable deposit and I didn’t receive any email or paperwork to this effect. It’s not as if these were discounted rooms at over £300 per night each. However having read some of the reviews on trustpiolt and here re dirty rooms and poor service maybe we have had a luck escape. THINK VERY SERIOUSLY BEFORE STAYING AT THIS HOTED OR BOOKING A WEDDING HERE AND REALL ALL IF THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU DO!

We arrived and immediately felt so welcome by the reception staff. We stayed in a garden room with a hot tub. The garden room was incredibly modern and quirky. To the rear we had a private area with a hot tub and to the front was also a further seating area which soaked up the morning sun. The Joiners Arns pub is literally a few minutes walk away and the Beach a five minute walk. Andrew J the operations manager at Newton Hall was extremely hands on making sure we were having a great time throughout our stay. He and all staff were so friendly and helpful.

I got married here and it was honestly an incredible experience. My wedding co ordinator was called Hannah and she was so amazing during the lead up to the wedding. She was so knowledgable about timings and everything and I felt like nothing was a bother for her. We stayed in the courtyard rooms the night before the wedding and they were absolutely beautiful. It was a really nice touch that breakfast was brought to us in our rooms. The staff were amazing during the wedding itself and the service was excellent. We had Andrew for our master of ceremonies and he is so good at what he does. Even though they have different weddings pretty much every day he still made sure that me and my husband and my family felt really special for our wedding day. The food was lovely and the venue itself is incredible. I would definitely recommend this venue for anyone looking to get married in Northumberland, it will always be very special to me.

Myself and my husband stayed over for a friend’s wedding. Our room cost £295 for a night which we found to be on the very expensive side but thought we don’t mind if it’s going to be worth it however, we felt the room definitely didn’t match the price tag. The positives The bed was really comfy and the sheets, duvet etc a good quality. Temple spa toiletries are provided in full size bottles which were lovely. Breakfast was lovely. The negatives There was a TV in the room but no remote so we were unable to use it. There was a bath in the room but no bubble bath. Although this isn’t a necessity, it would have been a nice touch. We would have liked a cup of tea on the evening and in the morning but only 2 tea bags were provided and one packet of biscuits to share between two people. We just felt this this was quite tight. The mirror was heavily marked. We didn’t sleep well as when we used the shower, the fan was then running for the remainder of the night (we did realise there was a switch for this is the morning but this wasn’t obvious) The main concern was the panel housing the flush for the toilet fell off the wall as soon as we touched it. We did note these problems to the receptionist when we checked out but were just told ‘thanks for letting us know’ we didn’t want anything in form of compensation but a sorry wouldn’t have gone a miss Due the cost of the room we were expecting more and left feeling very disappointed. As a result, we wouldn’t return. Echoing a lot of other reviews, the prices for drinks are extortionate. £4.40 for a lime and lemonade. £11 for a glass of wine, £8.80 for a Jack Daniel’s and coke. Prices obviously need to be marked up but I think Newbury Hall need to remember they aren’t in London.
