Banyan Tree Mayakoba

My recent stay at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba was truly the best vacation of my life. From the gorgeous rooms, comfortable beds, unparalleled level of privacy to the world class dining, incredible staff, and the massive property I have no complaints and only glowing remarks. We started our experience with the Banyan Tree at the Cancun airport where we were greeted by Benjamin our kind driver. The car was equipped with multiple drink options, snacks, a Banyan Tree curated playlist, cold towels, and even an X Box and televisions. After our tranquil car ride we started our first day at the spa. I have been to more spas than I can count in my lifetime but no experience matched the detail and luxury of the Indian Traditions treatment. I started my day at the spa with the Rainforest Experience which is complimentary with spa treatment. The facilities and contrast therapies were world class and left me feeling rejuvenated. My treatment with Muna was life changing and set the tone for a perfect trip. We booked several activities and all of our dining reservations through the most INCREDIBLE concierge and manager: Eduardo. No request was too much, he even got matcha out of the hotel’s storage reserve for us to have at breakfast everyday. Eduardo went above and beyond with every request and made our stay truly magical. Another unique facet of this resort are the golf cart transportation services which arrive to your room within 1-2 minutes upon request. Our favorite golf cart driver Javier told us interesting facts about the region and was incredibly kind and personable. Next, the dining options are OUT OF THIS WORLD. Saffron (the Thai restaurant) is the most gorgeous restaurant we have ever been to, not to mention boasts incredible food. Our lovely hostess Jazmin secured us a table on the water amongst the mangroves and we enjoyed our dinner alongside the wildlife. Our waiter Pablo was the kindest and most incredible host and we miss him already. Our second time dining at Saffron we were helped by the equally amazing Rafael who helped us locate wildlife and made sure all of our requests were met. The next restaurant I want to shout out is Cello (the Italian restaurant). Our incredible waiter Braulio made such a difference in our stay, moving our table to accommodate for the heat and making sure we had everything we needed. Braulio was so kind and patient with us and we will remember him fondly. Additionally, we had breakfast and lunch everyday at Sand’s beach club and our kind waiter Osiel remembered our orders everyday and was such a happy face to see every morning. On top of the incredible dining at the resort, the cleaning services are unparalleled in terms of detail and convenience. Bed clothes are changed 1-2 times per day, rooms are cleaned to perfection, and turn down staff leave little gifts and notes in your room nightly. This hotel is exceptional. I went with my family for a special Birthday, which was made exceptionally special by the incredible service. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Eduardo, the concierge, who is the BEST. He attended to us every second of our stay, ensuring we had everything we needed. I even asked for a particular kind of tea not served in the restaurant - and guess what? The next day, Eduardo made sure they got that tea for me. No request was too big. He even thought of things before we did! Rene was also helpful and went above and beyond. We had a beachfront villa, which was simply gorgeous. The bed was the most comfortable of any resort I've stayed at. The staff and attention to detail made our dining experiences MADE (Banyan Tree excels in service). Special shout out to Pablo, who served us twice in Saffron restaurant, and Braulio in Cello restaurant. My daughter and I did a Thai cooking class with Chef Tony - AMAZING!!! The spa is the best. We had the Indian Treatment with the lovely therapist, Muna. I practiced yoga every morning in the outdoor studio with Melissa, an incredible yoga teacher - it was a surprise to practice with a skilled and exceptional teacher in the gorgeous surroundings. Banyan Tree is lucky to have her because it's unusual to have such a skilled instructor (in so many yoga traditions) at a resort. All in all, you are in for a treat. Prices aren't for the faint of heart, but you get what you pay for. And when the service is this good...you suck it up! Thanks, Eduardo and co, for making our stay at Banyan Tree EXCEPTIONAL.

Very nice

We just returned from 6 nights at Banyan Mayakoba. This was our first time at Banyan but previously stayed at the rosewood in Mayakoba. The service at Banyan is amazing and deserves 5 stars. The staff is incredibly attentive and professional. Carolina our concierge was amazing. We ate at all the restaurants and every one of them was excellent. Tomahawk was our favorite for dinner and sands was probably our least favorite. Yes - they are all expensive but you do get a discount for staying on property. Some of the prices are insane on some items but overall it’s what you would expect at this type of resort. The breakfast buffet was probably the best one I’ve ever experienced and was included with our stay. The spa was nicely appointed, however I was disappointed that the steam room and sauna could only be used for one hour after a treatment or you could purchase an hour pass for $120. This is extremely unusual for a high end resort and was disappointing. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. We had a 2 bedroom serenity facing the lagoon with a seperate living room and private pool. This is where the resort gets 4 stars instead of 5. The rooms need updating. We had leaks from the storm. Broken tiles. Lights and light switches that were broken. Our jacuzzi never worked even after being repaired. Lights hanging out in the pool. Plastic bags shoved in ports in the pool. Peeling paint inside and outside. The resort is kept beautiful but the villas need some TLC. Housekeeping was amazing and did a fabulous job twice a day. Getting around the resort was easy. Bikes were a fun way to get around and the golf carts were readily available. Overall a great stay but we would probably return to the rosewood next time or wait until the rooms in Banyan are renovated.

Absolutely the best property I've stayed at. The grounds are unique, beautiful, serene, yet wild with nature. The décor is wonderful, every nook and cranny is tasteful and special. The lobby and all restaurants are gorgeous, outdoor spaces. The entire complex is walkable or bike-able. The beach is quite nice. Each individual casita is perfect, completely private, and immaculately maintained.

Get ready to be the most relaxed you have even been , spa space is tiny and needs to be upgraded in my opinion

We have traveled to Banyan Tree Mayakoba over the last 10 years, the villa style format with private pools is amazing and very private, the spa is probably the best service you may ever experience. I think it could be even better if there were more options for dining, updating some of the villas (as the property is now 15 years old) and while there is a heavy staff presence the focus on service and engagement of requests could be improved. Overall always an amazing experience and if you are looking for private, safe and secluded time with your partner/spouse this is hands-down the best option in Rivera Maya.

This hotel is exquisite. From the beautiful view to the extraordinary staff, I can’t say enough. The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. There are many restaurants to choose from with a variety of cuisine. I cannot express how great the staff is at this hotel. I have stayed in many hotels including Hawaii and Italy. The staff here is so professional, attentive but most of all kind. My daughter has tree nut allergies and they were beyond attentive to make her comfortable. We had the best time and hope to visit again.
