Bianca and her Team truly went above and beyond expectations with making my stay as perfect as it was. From the warm welcome, to helping me with travel/tour plans, she ensured every step of the process was handled with care. Even took the initiative to help rectify travel hiccups I encountered without me knowing! I was totally blown away by all the gestures beginning to end. The hotel itself is a dream. Cozy and quiet, I had great sleep here. The environment itself was very pretty, well taken care of, picture worthy moments too. I came for the charming hotel, would come back for the amazing staff! I will/would recommend this place to anyone coming to San Jose!!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Had a twin room. Bed was comfortable. Aircon was good. Bathroom was nice and shower pressure was good. Breakfast was included and was really nice. This hotel had a laundry room where you could wash and dry your own clothes for €1 for the washing machine and €1 for the dryer. This hotel is within walking distance of downtown San Jose and also Barrio Escalante which has lots of lovely restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

Like every Selina Hostel there is love in every detail - decoration, lights, good furniture. We had the deluxe room with a lot of space, a table, a sofa, own bathroom and good comfort. The bed was very cosy. We had no warm water for 2 days in our room, but the staff reacted instantly, tried to fix it and we got a free breakfast and some money back. Clean kitchen, enogh fridge space and a cool sofa space in the living kitchen. In total we had a nice and relaxing stay amd would definitly recommand this hostel.

We stayed for one night after arriving in San Jose. We got a taxi from the airport, which took about half an hour to get to the hotel. The hotel is really big and spacious, the rooms were comfortable, and we particularly enjoyed the lovely pool area outside where we could relax with drinks from the bar.

It should be the best hotel in downtown San Jose, with comfortable beds and pillows. Guest service is also ok. The breakfast is too bad, it is not worth the price. It is recommended that if one lives, or stays next to Sheraton, half of the price, but the room is large, breakfast is very rich.
Located in the trendy, upscale suburb of Escazú, the Sheraton San Jose Hotel, Costa Rica is close to the attractions and conveniences of the metropolitan area, but with a more relaxed pace. We are just 5 kilometers west of Sabana Park and 9 kilometers away from San Jose itself. Close to several corporate headquarters, restaurants, and shops, the hotel is within walking distance of the Golden Mile, the commercial center of Escazú.RoomsOur guest rooms feature first-class amenities to ensure a relaxing stay. Stay connected with wireless High Speed Internet Access at the desk with an ergonomic chair. Watch a movie on the 42-inch LCD flat screen TV with cable channels, or listen to your favorite music on the iHome® docking station/clock/radio. And enjoy a restful night on the plush Sheraton Sweet Sleeper® Bed.After a day of friends, family, or business, there is one more thing to savor at this Sheraton: the welcome of our guest rooms, which are completely smoke-free.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The amenities, the service, the price, the food, the views, entertainment, everything will make you feel like royalty! You are met in the lobby with a warm smile & greeting from Alexander Bell boy and checked -in by Margoth. In the lounge you are personally greeted by Ronald day serve and Miguel Angel(night serve) who were very personable. Breakfast was deliciously prepared by Gaudy the cook. Even the housekeeper makes the toilet tissue decorative. Ezequiel, the concierge, was very helpful and all of the staff seemed to never forget a face or name. I must say.. I really enjoyed my stay at the Sheraton.

Excellent
VVerified MemberPlace is about half an hour taxi ride from the airport. We originally booked it since the listing here said check in was 1400, but were later emailed that check-in was actually 1500 and when we arrived at 1500, the host said they aren't finished cleaning it and we had to wait in the lobby. The room was nice, although we didn't find the bathroom to be entirely clean. Included breakfast only consisted of coffee, fruit bowl and toast with jams.
GGuest UserI just came back from a week long trip to Costa Rica and stayed at the Studio Hotel Boutique. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. Outstanding service from the staff, beautiful hotel in a quiet part of Santa Ana, and beautiful art all over the hotel. We felt like we were staying in a museum. The restaurant had great food, and a great breakfast buffet, with a wide variety of choices for everyone. Harold who is in charge of the tours was wonderful. We contacted him before our visit, and he took care of everything for us. We always go with big chain hotels, but the price and the reviews for this hotel encouraged us to take a chance. I’m so glad we did. The price was decent and the hotel was excellent, a real find. I give this hotel 5 stars. I look forward to staying there again, and I recommend this hotel to anyone taking a trip to Costa Rica.
GGuest UserGreat location in the heart of San Jose, within walking distance from all the city’s attractions. As a Hilton member, we were recognised with a great upgrade to a nice and modern room. The daily breakfast was sumptuous with local and western options. The evening happy hour was incredible and the best selection of drinks we’ve ever been to. Would also like to thank several staff who helped us during our stay - Anthony the bellhop, and Carlos + Marcela, severs at the hotel’s restaurant. One suggestion is for the reception counter staff to be more friendly and approachable. The perception we got was they were cold and rushed.
GGuest UserMy coworker and I stayed here for three nights for a work trip. The property is lush and looks like you are transported a couple hundred years ago but resort is only 35 years old (from Marriott employee Fernando who gives tours of the property). There are two pools and a hot tub surrounded by so much lush vegetation. My initial room was 528 which is a handicap room but was quickly switched to 631 which has a walk-in shower with a glass door. The room had a modern feel with artwork of coffee beans. There was plenty of space at the desk as well as couch area. The breakfast was delicious and the servers were wonderful. Breakfast even starts at 6am, great for work trip. There is also a shuttle that runs on a schedule (see attached photo).
GGuest UserIt may be that the locals are like this, the hotel service attitude is average, and the breakfast service staff is also walking. The room was OK, that is, I encountered a day of water and power outage during the day. It was speechless and there was no compensation. The washing machine dryer is sold together and washes for $10 a time, but the washing is not clean, and the drying is no different from the drying. Will not live again next time.
DDramaThe best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Barcelo San Jose this Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms and high quality service. Excellent property and very convenient to USC activities. Front desk staff is extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. Property is clean and has a fantastic old time charm.
TTessa_assetUndiscovered gem of a hotel near San Pedro.
Pros: We were looking for a place on the lower end of the price spectrum that was a one night romantic getaway for two, that I could also use my free trip coins at toward the cost of the room. Preferably including breakfast and a swimming pool with jacuzzi 😉 Not much to ask!
We booked one of the cheaper rooms on the ground floor.
Before check in we took an Uber to San Pedro mall to do some essential shopping and see a movie. Then we checked in and I relaxed in the jacuzzi under the San José night sky while my husband enjoyed a full workout in the gym/weights room. TV with cable was great for my husband who enjoyed the football while I enjoyed the hot shower and relaxed in the bed afterwards. We had an amazingly comfortable sleep and a delicious breakfast in the morning of gallo pinto, fresh tropical fruits, freshly squeezed watermelon juice and hot coffee. A generous check out time of 12pm meant we had more than enough time to get our things together and leave when it suited.
Cons: Not many cons at this price point and value. The guy at the desk was a bit weird when we asked him for a second glass for water as there was only one in the room but not a big deal. We also had to ask him for the TV remote. The towels were a bit small like a mini dress on me after my shower. But good quality (with a third extra towel for the jacuzzi) and high quality bed linen. It also is in a slightly rough looking neighborhood but this is not a problem if you travel to and from the hotel by Uber or use a hire car (which you can park privately inside the property).
Overall impression: The other photos on trip.com and similar booking sites do not do this hotel justice - it looks far better in person. It has real character since it is a restored historic hotel from an era bygone, but that is why everything is such high quality from the bed linen to the floor tiles. Everything is also in good shape and freshly painted. There a little hidden nooks around the hotel that make it very charming. The breakfast area is lovely and the jacuzzi, pool and water slide were a real highlight. We WILL be back.
GGuest UserThis hotel rocks! We stayed here the first night of our trip, and were welcomed by the kind staff and some of the FRESHEST and WARMEST TASTIEST free cookies upon check in. By the end of our stay one of our relatives literally hoarded the cookies, asking for 4-5 per day. The pool was very pretty, and the breakfast was so fancy, aesthetic and tasty! The rooms were nice and cool, very clean, and had a great selection of TV channels. On the last night of our trip, we had initially pre-planned to stay at this one hotel in the forrest, but our party decided to leave because of a number of concerning observations. We were all exhausted as it was the end of our trip, and needed somewhere to stay. Immediately everyone started chanting that they wanted to go back to the DoubleTree. We arrived and everyone sighed a relief, and we went to our warm beds with our cookies!
GGuest User- I sent an email to the hotel the day before to check if they are able to send a shuttle to the airport to pick me up (just to avoid the stress of figuring out transportation), but they only replied once I landed. It wasn’t worth for me to wait for them to come and pick me up. - The room was loft style and very spacious: two stories with two full bathrooms, and kitchenette. I didn’t need them, but they were available. However, the shower upstairs next to the bedroom was missing a door, water was splashing out and making everywhere wet. Also, the shower didn’t drain well. It was gross to have my feet in dirty water… same with the sink, water wasn’t draining well. The hotel provided one hand towel and two large towels. They were old and rugged. I went out to buy my own. The bed was comfortable! So were the pillows & sheets! Thank you for that! - I’m training for a marathon and it was important to me that the hotel had a gym so that I can keep up with my training. This hotel had one treadmill and it wasn’t working. I guess next time I need to check before I book. - My room doesn’t have a window and hence very dark, gloomy, and depressing. Luckily I don’t have to spend too much time here. I told the receptionist and she said that that’s the room that was assigned to me. I let it go. - The hotel is in downtown and walking distance from all major “things to do” in San Jose city. But I have to say that the pictures online look a lot better than the reality of the hotel. - Would I stay here again? Only if I need to sleep somewhere for one night.
TTonypacificaBeen staying at this hotel, Always very nice. Edgar and Juan Carlos have been very helpful. My only complaint is that I wish I could reserve a specific room - the computer system doesn’t allow it. Otherwise I always have a great experience while I am there- breakfast buffet is excellent, please keep it.
