Hotels near Diqing Tibetan Culture Center, Shangri-La

Shangri-La is our first stop in Yunnan. It can be said that the good experience of Shangri-La gave this trip a good start, and 80% of the good experience of Shangri-La can be attributed to the B&B we booked ~ We originally booked Tianyi We came here to eat the matsutake barbecue mentioned in the reviews. I didn’t expect it to be available only in summer, but that’s not important. The important thing is that the owner and the landlady of the B&B are really, really, really nice. My friend was a bit high on the first day here. The landlady poured hot water and gave us medicine and kept us downstairs for a while to make sure we were better before letting us go upstairs to rest. She would greet us warmly every day when we went out or returned to the B&B after playing. It really felt like living in a hotel. At home! The biggest feeling after visiting Shangri-La for three days is that the folk customs in Shangri-La are very good. In other words, we were lucky enough to meet very nice people. I can’t forget that when we left, the two of us watched our taxi drive away. I wish our business will always be prosperous and everything will go well. meaning!

I have nothing but great things to say about my stay here. From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I was warmly welcomed with drink and snacks. What was unique - they had three sets of toiletries to choose from. My family could choose the one they like. Room was clean and big enough for the 4 of us. There were also complimentary fruits, snacks and goodnight dessert. When I asked for where I could do my laundry, my dedicated ‘butler’ was quick to offer that they do them for me and they were promptly handed back to me the following day. If I could rate them 10 stars I would 🤩. Their warmth and service was just great !

First of all, the hotel accepts foreigners (as of April 2024). It is centrally located in the old town, and public transportation (limited though it may be) is easily accessible. Of course, there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The room was very good, clean and in good condition, with all the necessary amenities. The staff was kind and helpful, and you may store your bag before check in and after check out. Perhaps one thing to note, is that you shouldn't count on your room having any particular view - my room had a view of the courtyard. Overall, a very good option for those who wish to stay in the ”old” town.

Clean rooms in a boutique hotel that is run by a family who were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was decent and tasty. I appreciated the little touches such as a humidifier and heating above the shower as the air in Shangri-La can get quite cold and dry. The room had a tea brewing setup with automated water dispenser, which would be handy for those who like their chinese tea.

The hotel is closed to Dukezong Old Town and you can reach to Guishan Temple by walking. The room is super clean and comfortable. Noted** this is the most very comfortable hotel that I've stay in the trip, for those who worries about toilet, the hotel has smart toilet with the automatic spray bidet system to clean without using any toilet paper (And of course we can select the temperature of water and level of the water pressure) I've book the Leisure Suite City View with the 2 queensize beds, floor heating and 1 living room with the fascinating view of Guishan Temple. Lastly, the hospitality of the hotel host and staffs are super nice!! I'm so impressed Don't worry about speaking Chinese, you can use google translate (for roaming sim) and Wechat translate to communicate with them!!

The hotel is very beautiful. There are water dispensers, chargers, sofas in the lobby. The facilities are very complete. The bathroom in the room is also large. The floor heating is individually controlled. The room is very warm. Normally, check-out is at 2 pm. If you delay, it will cost 30 yuan per hour.

Awesome stay. We have only good things to say about this accommodation. Firstly, the location was absolutely perfect with easy car access and within short walking distance to the old town. Most importantly, the boss was very helpful and welcoming. We were thankful that he went above and beyond in helping to link us up for our tour transport which made it a seamless experience. Room was well designed, spacious and clean. Highly recommend.

It was the last night of the trip to Shangri-La. The environment around the B&B was very good, with endless grasslands. We originally booked a standard room, but the owner helped upgrade it to a family room for free because we had children. We could also take them around Napahai. I will stay here again next time.

The eldest brother drove to the airport early in the morning to arrange a pick-up. The service was very considerate and he also gave a lot of travel advice. The view from the room was really first-class. When I opened the curtains in the morning, I felt integrated with nature. The overall facilities were very new and complete, and the whole room provided heating and oxygen, so there was no need to worry about altitude sickness. Although the breakfast was simple, you could eat rice noodles. Overall, it was really a five-star service. The eldest brother also helped to see you off. The hotel dog was also smart and cute and would accompany you to visit the grassland! Except that it was not particularly convenient to travel, it was really recommended if you wanted to be isolated from the world. I would come back again in winter to see the snow!

Such a fun place to stay! There are so many new places going up in the village so probably lots of options now but the Halfway House was great and definitely has the best vibe. We loved our little balcony with the view of the corn terraces and the mountains. Beds were comfy and everything was very clean. Dinner was very good - the usual Chinese selection. We hung out in the nice coffee shop on the viewing deck. Overall it really made our Tiger Leaping Gorge experience. Just didn’t like the disposable towels in the room - not sure how environmentally friendly those are with the plastic packaging. We saw too much garbage along the TGL! Highly recommend the Halfway House for your TGL experience!
