I'm not used to the city but when my family came to the Courtyard Marriott Downtown we were immediately welcomed. Not only were we able to get check in by the desk quickly and successfully we enjoyed the restaurants in the area as well as the Waterfront near the Museum to take the kids on the hot summer day. Front Desk agents never instructed us about our room getting service system goes at any time and without no Housekeeper supervisor help as I asked the Housekeeper in the hallway named Carmelita for assistance. Although she was very preoccupied with her other assignments; she insisted without question to refresh our room; she even asked if we wanted new sheets on the bed!! What amazing customer service; I was truly surprised but utterly impressed. Thank you so much for your assistance. Food was delicious at the bistro with a calming atmosphere; busy elevators but the stay was overall enjoyable.
GGuest UserLet me start by saying I’m going into this review a little miffed. In my 40+ years of traveling, I’ve never had a hotel or motel tell me I can’t use my reward points. But in this case, I was told the points can only be used for “Standard Rooms” and all their standard rooms were booked. So I went ahead and paid for a … non-standard room???. Well, I got to my room and guess what - it was just a standard motel room. There was absolutely nothing special or deficient with this room. With that said and out of the way, here are the positive aspects of my stay. The facility is somewhat new and it was clean (the bleach smell hung heavy in the air). The staff was courteous, but not necessarily friendly. The bed was medium firm and there were plenty of pillows. The free breakfast was pretty good. Within 150 feet from the hotel there were two restaurant … the food at the Pho restaurant was really good. Now for some downsides … (1) for all you light sleepers, this was a noisy motel. Even though we were in a room on the backside of the motel facing an empty lot, we could still hear the nearby traffic noise. Additionally, we could hear guests talking in their room and hallway. We could also hear the footsteps from the floor above us. (2) this motel is located in a not so nice location of Tacoma … they even lock the front lobby doors after certain hours, so you need to use your room key card to enter the lobby and to operate the elevator. Connected to the noise issue … I did hear a couple of gun shots at about 3 AM.
SShu KWe spent the night because we were visiting the University of Puget Sound, and it was a convenient location. The room fit our needs, but I don’t think I could stay for more than one night. It’s really basic here - including their restaurant. Dinner menu was the typical pizza and stuff, and breakfast was stuff that they thawed out and heated. One easy thing they could do is require a dress code at their restaurant, because frankly restaurant employees wearing T-shirts just doesn’t seem professional. The room itself was ok - bed, basic flat screen TV, small but functioning bathroom with a shower curtain. The shower water seeped to the bathroom floor with water, but easy enough to wipe up… Just not excited about this place.
The hotel is undergoing quite a bit of construction/renovation, but that was not an issue for me as I was only there for 1 night as I was attending P!nk's concert at the Tacoma Dome. The hotel was an easy walk from the Amtrak station. Check-in was very smooth. Jose, the person who checked me in, was super warm and friendly. He was efficient and communicated clearly everything I needed to know for my stay. The hotel is very clean. My room was very spacious and modern. This was such a nice change from another hotel I stayed in about a month earlier in Richmond, VA. I did take advantage of the free hotel breakfast the next morning, and I was impressed by the offerings. It was much more than just cereal, bagels, and juice. There was all of that and then some (e,g, hot bar, assorted pastries, selections of juices and types of milk). Checkout was also a breeze, and the young lady (I didn't get her name) assisting me was lovely. The room rate was elevated because of the demand from out of towners coming to Tacoma for P!nk's 2 night stand at the Dome. I met quite a few other hotel guests that were there for the concert. However, the ”regular” room rates seem to be an excellent value for what the hotel offers. Once the renovations are complete and things such as the fitness center are back in operation, it'll be an even more excellent value for the dollar. I look forward to coming back soon for a weekend getaway to explore Tacoma.
GGuest UserDoes the fragrance of coffee brewing at 6:30 help start the day? Do hot eggs and sausage provide energy for chilly mornings? After work, does music sound welcoming by a fireplace in a lobby? Does the taste of local seafood chowder and creme brulee sound delicious? From the check-in desk to the elevator lobbies, and rooms, awesome glass art is exhibited, along with the artists' inspirational quotes. Some artists are from all around the world; some are Tacoma's fine artists, skilled in locally producing art using techniques learned from Murano, Italy. Quiet rooms remind weary travelers that, ”Silence is golden.” Sweet dreams and wishing you, too, many happy Murano Memories!
GGuest UserI want to thank Kayla Wilkins and her staff at the La Quinta Inn in Tacoma for the great time we had. Kayla directed us to Jill in Catering and Lori for room reservations. The staff was friendly, caring, and helped in so many ways with all of our needs We had great food, and had so much fun in the ballroom for dancing . i
HHermanTheGerman-inTXFriendly staff experience upon check-in. I received a spacious upstairs queen bed room with sofa and coffee table, table and two chairs, large dresser, large desk, fridge and microwave oven. The room did not have a pleasant smell. I could not turn on a few lights and the TV. Staff came promptly to fix these issues. I also asked for - and received rags and cleaner to clean the bugs of my motorcycle. Very appreciated! A grab-n-go breakfast included big muffins and danish, several fruit and good coffee. But .... this property is large and it looks like many ”guests” are long-term residents. A lot of parking lot activity including noisy cars and loud music.
DDavid ChambersThey were clean and treat you better than most hotels. Give you privacy. Unlike most hotels. I know they had breakfast but we didn't make it for that. Laundry room was great we got most of our clothes clean anyways. The best time is at night to do laundry. It's open for the most part. Thanks you we're great
