My daughter and I stayed overnight on a drive to Scotland. The twin room was excellent. The beds were very comfortable with lovely linen. The ensuite was very modern with lovely large fluffy towels. Everything was spotlessly clean. Kettle and hot drink facilities provided. Breakfast was in a lovely function room and was excellent - really high quality freshly cooked food alongside fruit and cereals. Lovely helpful people too. We did not have dinner there so cannot comment on that. The pub is a traditional village pub with a cozy quirky bar. I would happily stay here again. Thank you!

Our second visit to the Eagle and Child, we called in for lunch. Great parking across the road from the pub, we arrived just after twelve o'clock to a great welcome from the staff very helpful and friendly, she gave us the main menu and pointed out the specials on the board . we ordered our meals which arrived promptly and the food was hot and delicious, we had chosen our meals from the specials menu and both were good portions and good quality at a very reasonable price as were the drinks. well worth a visit. thanks again to staff

We had booked a table for 10 for 4pm. Finished our walk a little later than anticipated and fancied a drink in the beer garden before eating. Asked if we could delay for a while and they said we’d got a 2 hour slot and as long as the table was free by 6pm they didn’t mind. We ordered at 5pm, food came quickly and was hot and delicious. Didn’t feel at all rushed and easily finished for 6pm. The team couldn’t have been any more accommodating.

The room was very clean and the bed linen spotless and quality. The breakfast won an award from Quality England last year - and its easy to see why as it was fabulous ! Plenty of choice and top quality too. Staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Great location on a bus route and in a village with some amenities as a bonus. Well-recommended.

Not been for a while. Pleased it hasn't changed. Local beers, log fire, and busy. Four meals served efficiently by friendly staff. Good quality pub food. Glad we were not put off by the 2 previous reviews!

I called by recently to escape the rain whilst out walking. The fire was lovely and welcoming and so were the staff. It is a pity that the food didn't match up. I ordered the double hamburger with chips. The meat part was just a couple of poor quality burgers , not even birds eye standard. I ate most of it but put some in my pocket to give to the next passing dog i met. Everything else about the pub was lovely...the atmosphere, the location, the staff, the décor etc. It was the quality of the food that let it down.

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed here. You are made to feel welcome by the excellent staff. We stayed in room 5, maybe not the biggest room but a size that met our needs. Shower/toilet room was a good size with the shower being refreshing. The bed was very comfortable, with both of us having a good nights sleep. The breakfast was very tasty, with the sausages to die for, but a good selection of nice food. We decided to have our evening meal here as well and again, compliments to the chef, never a bad meal. On the Sunday full roast beef dinner very nice. All the staff we came across were very warn friendly to us which helped it being a good stay. One of the good things about this place that it’s dog friendly.

Stayed In Staveley at The Barn, which was an amazing property. I booked Friday nights dinner at the Eagle & Child, Was soo good we went back the following night. Food amazing, the owners were so lovely , so helpful, we took our dogs in.we were given a table so as the dogs would be comfortable . Finding this little treasure of a pub/ restaurant really made our weekend. Thank you for making our weekend for us and for being so welcoming. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Lake District.
