The Shangani was a great base for me twice while visiting Zanzibar. The location is amazing with excellent access to local shopping and dining experiences. The hotel rooms while they are basic had great AC, excellent showers and good wifi. The Team running Shangani are excellent very accommodating always willing to help when needed. Breakfast on the rooftop is a great experience with the chefs making fresh breakfasts every morning.

While the hotel's opulence came at a premium, the breakfast experience fell disappointingly short and my wife did not mince her words about it to the staff and management, leaving much to be desired. A stark contrast to the luxurious setting and relatively good rooms, the morning offerings were surprisingly subpar, diminishing the overall satisfaction of the stay!

A lovely hotel located centrally in Sone Town within easy walking distance of all I needed. The staff are so friendly and helpful., the rooms are plain but very clean, .breakfast was good. I will come back mostly because the staff are fabulous.

Very well received, we're early to check-in but they accommodated us. The rooms were clean and airy, good water flow clean amenities, good service by friendly staff. We did not have any meals as this was catered elsewhere for a religious function. Air conditioning in the room very much needed for the hot nights.
