I stayed at Huayuan Hotel three days ago. I returned to Taiyuan from Datong and continued to stay at Huayuan Hotel. I didn’t ask the hotel to pick me up this time because I got off at Taiyuan Station and was already familiar with the location of the hotel. I booked another two nights this time. The hotel's breakfast was really good, with many varieties, almost up to the standard of a buffet. If I could go back to the hotel at noon, I could also go to the restaurant to eat a slice of noodles. Unfortunately, I stayed there for three days, every day. I wasn’t in the hotel at noon, so I couldn’t arrive, haha! On the last day, I asked the front desk clerk if I could check out late, and the front desk readily agreed without saying anything. After checking out, the hotel driver took me to Taiyuan South Station. He was punctual and polite. I must like it! I wish Huayuan Hotel business will prosper in the future!

The Parkview hotel is a five star hotel with modest price. The location js perfect and convenient. The hotel rooms are extremely well maintained. My room had a direct view of Yingze park and the night scene was spectacular. The hotel’s breakfast buffet features an amazing collection of local delicacies and it was hard not to overeat. The Chinese restaurants serve outstanding dishes. The front desk staff are polite and helpful. Ms Wang Zewei was especially helpful. I would absolutely return time.

Pros:
- Very professional, presentable, helpful, prompt, and well spoken multi-lingual staff at reception and breakfast (staff member Ivo is exemplary of these qualities, also Zhao fengpei (gentlemen on the door who helped me with my bag and the car door), and the gentleman that was by the door at check-in who helped expedite the check-in process).
- Comfy beds and pillows.
- The softest and best bathrobes!
- Yoga mat in the room in a nice touch
Cons:
- A general issue across most hotels is enforcing the non-smoking policy. Unfortunately there was a group of men smoking in the lobby (despite the non-smoking signs), one elevator smelled of cigarette smoke, the a/c seemed to recirculate this smell, and I had to change rooms the second day as the smell of old cigarette smoke was embedded into the pillows and you could smell it every time you walked into the room. Therefore it triggered my asthma. Although they were very busy, I was able to change rooms after the first night.
- Unfortunately the executive lounge was not open and your only other option is the lobby.
- No spa
- Only one restaurant open at night and no room service
- Is in need of more regular general maintenance
Room for improvement:
- While the lounge is unavailable it would be helpful to communicate this to your executive room guests when checking-in or on the booking website which it wasn’t. My husband had to prompt this conversation at check-in. But it was clear there was no set alternative, that is, just go to the lobby lounge and have what you like (no timing, no specifics). This led to confusion for the staff members in the lounge. To save time for staff and the customer, a simple bulleted list on an A4 sheet is what Kempinski do. Perhaps a note on the guests profile or the room number should suffice.
- Slightly envious that the other reviewers were upgraded. We were supposed to be upgraded from the executive room for free as a platinum member but that never happened. However, it was good that Kelly offered the minibar, and some drinks and cakes at the lobby lounge as free.
- Also, our first executive room 1710 was dark, windows were filthy, it was run down and had no Nespresso machine (compared to 1805 which was the same room type but a lot better).

The breakfast is a five-star standard, and it is impressive that there are canned sodas provided.
The service is given five stars because I didn't use any service, so I didn't encounter any problems.
There is a supermarket across the street downstairs, and a shopping mall a few steps away. But I didn't find anything to visit around.
The gym is not 24 hours. At the same time, it is open to the public and there are coaches giving private lessons. But because of this, the equipment is relatively complete.

The airport is about 20 minutes by car and also around 20 minutes to Taiyuan South railway station. Parking is also available at this property. Around the hotel are many restaurants and shops along with the giant MixC shopping mall.
The hotel boasts a range of high-quality amenities including a SPA, gym and excellent swimming pool. The downstairs restaurant is also excellent, especially the breakfast buffet, which has many options available. The rooms are well-appointed with modern furniture and comfortable beds. The rooms are large and offer plenty of space too.
Staff are very helpful and attentive and also speak good English. Highly recommended and my favorite hotel In Taiyuan!

The breakfast selection offered at the hotel was both varied and delicious. I appreciate the outstanding service provided by the young lady who assisted me with the check-in process; she is very kind, professional, and efficient. One minor suggestion is regarding the bathroom door. While the partially etched glass door is not necessarily a problem, a frosted glass door would provide more privacy for guests.
Overall, I had a great stay at the Ibis Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

GGuest UserI found myself having to stay in Taiyuan due to the outbreak preventing me going home. After several phone calls I finally found this hotel that would receive foreign guests.
The staff were very polite and I particularly wish to thank the front desk staff and the concierge who helped me with the various paperwork needed when I arrived.
The room was very clean, well furnished and maintained. A fruit basket was delivered which I thought was a nice touch.
Living so close to Taiyuan it is not somewhere I would usually need to stay but should the need arise again I would not hesitate to do so. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who asks me about a suitable hotel or if you are planning to stay in Taiyuan.
The location is very convenient. Lots of food options and things to do nearby.
All in all, Shanxi Hotel deserve praise.

The room was okay but in terms of cleanliness, there's still a lot to be done especially in the bathroom. If I were staying for longer it would be a problem using the wc but since it was just a night to catch a flight I'm not too mad. The bathroom was spacious enough and the room as well even though there were two beds, which was good. The overall stay was okay, we had to go back into town and the lovely Mr Lee was very helpful, he drove us back to the roadside to get a taxi and when we got back luckily we met him after the map took us to a wrong route and drove us back to the hotel. The airport was about 6 minutes from the hotel and even though we both had different departure times, one early in the morning and myself late afternoon, we were both taken to the airport as well. I think if the road to the hotel is fixed and they can do some real scrubbing and cleaning it would be a really good place.
