Hotels near Dhebar Lake, Udaipur

Very Slow service..like few other guests have shared. They misplaced/delayed our luggage by 45 minutes during checkout..almost missed our flight. Cancelled evening Cultural show on 2nd day and delayed next day without any prior information, we had to postpone our dinner reservation by few hours to accommodate the change. Few palace gates/entries were shut..difficult to get cabs/autos etc. I understand Royals had family issues going on but shouldn't cause inconvenience to guests..we/other guests could have been served better. They must understand such stays/vacations/family get togethers are once in a lifetime. Most of the Staff is incompetent..don't know whats going on. Manthan is an exception..a wonderful host, talented, thoughtful and polite. Below incident totally shocked me..hence 1 star, they need to drastically change their service DNA. My email to the CEO..will update as and when they respond/resolve: ----------------------- Dear Mr Chhatwal, I'm really shocked about the careless attitude of the restaurant staff @ Taj Fateh Prakash Palace. Myself and family of 11 stayed last week at your wonderful property, we had 4 suites for 3 nights. When we went for breakfast the morning after we checked in, there wasn't any hot item for Jain food. So I met Chef Prakash and other gentleman in my room to specify our food preferences, both well understood our requirements. The gentleman hand wrote in his order book..very clearly: NO ONION/GARLIC and everything strict vegetarian..the intructions were very clear. Next morning Prakash was off but server Naval attended our table and he had the same previous day's instructions in his phone/msg..the hand written note, clearly stating Paneer Bhurji and few other vegetable dishes. He brought the same to me and I took few spoons of it and I was wondering why is it tasting so differently. I thought may be it is due to different place or dairy as the taste varies somewhat from region/brand/preparation etc. And I asked Naval: Are you sure this is Paneer Bhurji? He said: Sir: It's Egg Bhurji. I was stunned!! how the hell in the world..despite clear written instructions of being strict vegetarian..no onion/garlic: Egg is being served to me. Such strict diet note should have been handled by a senior resource. I asked for GM..he was on long leave. I didn't find anybody else competent and empathetic enough to understand what they did to me..hence reaching out to you. It was Eakadasi fasting day for me, so I thought let me observe some other day..at least they can take care of basic vegetarian diet. I'm 50 years old..been traveling since 17, such incident never took place even at smaller/humble hotels. And we're talking of Taj Fateh Palace!! Its like feeding Pork to strict Muslim during Ramadan or feeding beef to Vegetarian Hindu during Navaratri fast, is it acceptable in such day and age..where's the concern and sensitivity? I request you to share with all your leadership, I see this as leadership failure..ie

Lake Palace floating in the middle of Lake Pichola is a classic image of Udaipur. This historic building is no longer a royal palace but a hotel. LP calls it a world-renowned hotel. This may be an overstatement. But the first time I saw it in a magazine in white years ago, I remembered it.         Looking at the palace in the water from different angles by the lake will make people curious, especially in the beautiful light of sunrise and sunset. So the next night, I boarded the lake palace from a special dock near the lake. There are yachts on Lake Pichola, but they are only open during the day. It is a rare opportunity to take a boat at night, especially looking at the lights reflected on the water of the city palace and lake palace. The moment is really beautiful, and sitting Boat to the hotel in the middle of the lake is even more special experience.         From landing to entering the hotel lobby, there will be several staff to guide, welcome speech, take luggage, order cinnabar, hand towels and welcome drinks, and so on. The division of labor is clear. These are the standard procedures for this type of hotel. The welcome petals were sprinkled from the upstairs terrace. No one was visible in the darkness, and there was a feeling of falling from the sky. After Check in, my sister in Sari took me to the room. The hotel is large, and my room is on the other side. I followed her along the way to observe her gait. I have to say that Indian women walking in sari are really swaying.         In addition to its special location and history as a palace, one of the reasons for this hotel's famousness may have appeared on the big screen as the scene of ”Octopus” in the 007 series of 1983 films. However, I don't have much impression of this movie, and the look from the lobby to the room has made me a little disappointed. It is not as magnificent as I thought, and there is a trace of oldness. The hotel upgraded the room type for me free of charge. The view from the lake view room was very good.         I got up early the next morning, opened the curtains, and there was already light on the lake outside. Looking up from the hotel, the slightly cool air is very fresh, and the city and lake in the morning light are quiet and dreamy, making people feel refreshed. After watching the morning scenery, I walked around. There is no second guest who wakes up early in the large hotel, which gives me a kind of exclusive joy. The pure white hotel looks noble and elegant, and the garden is exquisite, but I still think it is overly praised in all travel guides.         Had lunch at the hotel before check out, and luckily chose the best location. Looking out of the pavilion, the city palace on the opposite side looks like gold-plated in the sun. Pigeons glide across the sparkling water, and the dinghies that transport guests from time to time shuttle on the lake. Maybe hundreds of years ago, the princes were here, and they looked at the beautiful city they created with satisfaction.

We came for friends dinner. It was the excellent experience we had dinner I would recommend to everyone. Food and service was excellent at Howard Johnson hotel udaipur thanks to Mr Avinash Sharma he's very hamble person and Mr nepal Thanks to entire team as well. we are enjoyed our dinner party and restaurant is neat and clean

World class service, more than that very personalized In fact, we had some sickness in the family and the hotel was very ”homely”, took care of the kids like their own Facilities were really good Food was wholesome, when we ordered a dish, several snacks, salad etc were offered in addition to the entree I would recommend this ”palace” to anyone wanting to have an experience of feeling like royalty or family

Such a fantastic stay - cannot rate this less than 5 stars. The breakfast was delicious and staff were so attentive. Thank you!

This place was really heart taking, Amazing rooms staff was really very appreciated for their service and attentive. Food was really good but atleast egg need to serve in buffet. We booked for 2 day but need more days to explore the Udaipur. My family were enjoyed the stay. Mansi and Jitu always have a smile and help you to city tour or any other assistence. Thanks to Mr Mahendra GM we met with this person on breakfast and he is very kind and very supportive. We really enjoyed the stay and definitely recommend to other person. Keep it guys
