Belmond Hotel is my personal favorite hotel brand, no one! Although it is relatively niche compared to other five-star hotels, it is definitely an aristocratic stay experience! From check-in to check-out at the front desk, the hotel has really paid attention to every detail. The Belmond Hotel Machu Picchu is located at the door of Machu Picchu, which saves a lot of effort for tourists who visit early in the morning. I booked an all-inclusive room type with three meals. The choice of three meals is very rich, which is quite good for a mountaintop hotel with scarce supplies. The hotel still provides washing service after check-out, which is very intimate. After staying for two nights, Machu Picchu is a great experience! Ctrip's price is much cheaper than booking, very powerful!

Exterior walls are rendered using ancient techniques - while interiors come alive with bright fabrics and alpaca wools. Come evening - head to El Huerto Bar for a zingy Pisco sour. Our barman has a wealth of knowledge on the local liquor - his tasting sessions are not to be missed. A fire roars on the terrace of El Huerto Restaurant. Here - dishes are made with ingredients fresh from the kitchen garden. The riverside El Jardin meanwhile - offers culinary theatre with its waterside barbecue and traditional pachamanca.

Good environment, good location, you can take the train directly to Machu Picchu at the hotel. The room is large, with Walk In Closet. Good service.

This is such a peaceful lodge. There were 3 vendors in the courtyard selling Peruvian items and artwork. There was also a woman weaving the Peruvian cloth. There are a couple of alpacas on the property that they move around the grounds. We had some leftovers from lunch and a worker was so gracious by heating it up for us and providing silverware. The breakfast is awesome. Just walking around the grounds was nice and relaxing. The room was very clean and nice as well. We were able to leave our luggage here since you are not allowed to take more than 1 backpack on the train to Machu Picchu.

Stayed here for one night, the hotel has a lovely reception area and is set in lovely tranquil surroundings. The staff were helpful, friendly and very obliging. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a cosy bed, the downside was the bathroom. The bathroom was dated and in a poor state. The shower was over the bath and the bath was gruby and in need of replacement. The grout around the bath was black with mould. The sink in the bathroom was missing the ”glaze” in many places and again was in need of replacement. The whole bathroom could have done with a total refurbishment. The rooms are set around the grounds and in small bungalow type establishments, which are nice. There are excellent views from the hotel. Breakfast was good with a good variety of things to enjoy. If the bathroom had not been in such a state, this would have been a nice stay.

The positive: The hotel is beautiful and idyllic, the people attending are very nice and helpful, if undertrained. The breakfast was great. The negative: it is really hard to locate, especially at night. It took us hours to get there (we were by car), we got lost twice, the roads do not have illumination and a significant part is a horrible dirt road with lots of holes. On the corner of the street going up the hotel there is trash laying on the street. The wifi is very poor, especially in the rooms. We couldn't contact the property at all. They did not answer messages or calls. Directions are not clear, the hotel doesn't provide them either. We were upcharged without explanation the first night (a good 12%), and they made a mistake the second night with the price as well, we were forced to make an international transfer. The staff is very undertrained, they were doing the best to help but they couldn't locate the owner.

We were on an escorted trip around Peru with a group of 15 adults and we stayed here for 2 nights before going to Machu Picchu. This was the most beautiful place we stayed during our trip to Peru. It is set amongst a beautiful landscaped garden and mountains as back drop. The check in was efficient. Had forms filled out ready for us to sign and while we did that they started taking our bags to the room. The lobby is beautifully decorated with amazing paintings and has a small bar. The room was very spacious with 2 Queen beds and a small balcony facing the back garden. We had 2 soaps and shampoo sachets, towels were replaced everyday.  The staff were so helpful. Please note, there is no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room. They had refillable water available for our group and I got the restaurant staff to provide me with hot water on both nights.  The breakfast was very very basic. Scrambled eggs, French toast, bread, potato chips & cereal with tea, coffee & juices. The town/village square is around 15 minutes walk from here. Beautiful place and definitely worth a stay.

The place has extraordinary facilities and an excellent staff that aims to take care of any single need you may have. They go out of their way to meet your needs to their best capabilities. I went to the restaurant my first time there and the young waitress that took care of me (Betel) heard me cough a couple of times and proceeded to recommend a specialty drink called “puka poncho”, a warm drink with mint, strawberry and blueberries. Delicious and effective, because it stopped my coughing quickly. The next day at breakfast I bumped into Betel and she greeted me “by name”, she actually remembered my and proceeded to take care of me. I found the fact that she remembered my name absolutely remarkable.
