The Bishop and the Bison

What a wonderful visit time York! We were simply delighted with the Bishop and the Bison straightaway- starting with the convenience of on site parking. We were warmly greeted by Jonathan, and although we were tired from a day of driving, we took his advice and made the easy 15 minute walk into town to explore. Three nights (and delicious breakfasts) later, we know we must return, if only to have another go at the best omelette I’ve had in my life. Some reviewers groused about the water pressure, which was a bit weak, but not a dealbreaker. Its what I’d expect in a gorgeous historic home such as this. All comforts in place - an excellent base for exploring York.

Excellent Three Night Stay at The Bishop and The Bison. Our first time in York. Jonathan, our host was most welcoming. Made us feel very relaxed. Nothing to much trouble for him. He suggested places to visit and recommended local restaurants. Our Superior Double Room was comfortable, exceptionally clean and was refreshed daily. Breakfast was first class with quality ingredients. We always try and stay in quality small Boutique Hotels - The Bishop and the Bison deserve their high rating - first class for a small boutique hotel with car parking in an excellent quiet location only a leisurely 15mins walk into York Centre. Our stay in York wasn't long enough and we look forward to another visit in the near future and we will most definitely be staying at The Bishop and The Bison.

Well appointed spacious rooms, comfortable, incredible personal touches in the room, wonderful hosts who were so friendly and welcoming. Convenient to the city centre, a great place with a delicious breakfast and I would highly recommend.

I had a really lovely stay here. It's near the city centre (ask Jonathan for the best walking route!) but so quiet and with super comfy beds so you'll get a great night's sleep. I had the best selection of vegan breakfast I've found anywhere I've stayed, all freshly prepared. Jonathan went above and beyond as our host and gave great tips on what to see and how to get around the city.

Excellent b&b . Recommend booking directly with them as parking and breakfast is included. Jonathon and Anthony were both very welcoming and the room was clean and well equipped. It is well located- only a 15 minute walk at most to the city centre. Had a great time - highly recommended.

A great stay for two nights visiting York. Close enough to the city centre that it's an easy walk at a gentle pace for 15 minutes (either along the road or going down by the river on a nice day). Comfy, good facilities, nice space, great breakfast.

The owner Jonathan has created a truly wonderful place - classy, comfortable and fun. The decor is wonderful and quirky, with spacious comfy rooms and lovely communal areas. Jonathan is a great host (with a great gin collection!) and is only too happy to chat and give you recommendations in the local area (it's an easy stroll into the city). Super tasty breakfasts, and a special mention to the lovely girl Roisin who served us in the mornings. We absolutely loved our stay here, would highly recommend it and will definitely return next time we're in York.

Stayed here for 2 nights and what a surprise. Wonderful comfortable room and quiet considering the property is on a main road. Very easy to walk into York. The host makes the stay, he takes time to chat with all the guests and the breakfast is amazing. A very special place to stay, would highly recommend. Absolutely loved it!

Just got back from a wonderful 2 night stay at the Bishop And The Bison a truly unique B&B. Each room and the communal areas are all individual with lovely touches everywhere you look. The bed, pillows and duvet where so comfortable and definitely the best I have come across in a B&B. I'm Coeliac and Jonathan couldn't have been more accommodating with my breakfast which was wonderful and such a treat for me to have such a choice. You get such a lovely welcome from Jonathan the minute you get there and help with anything you may want to know or need. I would definitely recommend a stay here and hopefully in the future I will be back.
