Highly recommended! The service at this Datong hotel is top-notch, so heartwarming it almost brought tears to my eyes 😭
My experience at Jixia Mountain Datong Hotel:
My wife said, ”From check-in to check-out, I felt like a pampered princess the whole time!”
👏🏻 A big shout-out to the General Manager!
His bilingual skills are impressive, effortlessly switching between English and Cantonese.
He immediately stepped in to patiently assist a few foreign guests who needed help.
This kind of 'attention to detail' service really resonated with me!
🌄 When we were watching the sunrise over the city wall in the morning,
the front desk小姐姐 (young lady) quietly filled our thermos with ginger tea.
She said, ”The morning wind is strong, have something warm.”
This was the first time I encountered turndown service where they actually pulled the duvet up from the bottom. Even at the St. Regis Macau, I always had to struggle to pull the duvet up myself.
These unexpected moments of warmth made the entire trip feel incredibly special!
💡 Little tips:
The hotel offers a guided tour service for the art gallery daily.
The floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby offer stunning views of the sunset.
It's advisable to bring a jacket as there's a significant temperature difference between morning and evening.
I've already decided to bring my family back for a second visit! Such a service-oriented team deserves recognition 👀

Overall, it was very good, as expected. I feel it's necessary to write a positive review to encourage the hotel to maintain its current service standards! This trip was specifically planned during the off-season for my elders to relax and for my own personal rest. On the first night, we found the room too stuffy. After reporting it, they immediately upgraded and changed our room (a big thank you to the lovely lady at the front desk; later, on the third day, she also explained the three ways to close a window we had an issue with. I don't know her name, but I was very satisfied with her service these past few days 👍🏻). She was a woman with her hair up, wearing a dark blue suit.
Facilities: The washbasins and toilets are Duravit, and having two washbasins is a big plus! The room has a sofa, a walk-in closet, and a matching table and chairs. A suggestion: the lighting color in the walk-in closet isn't very good, it's too yellow.
Cleanliness: I specifically checked some areas, and there was no dust. It was clean and tidy.
Environment: Superb, exactly as seen in previous reviews. A well-deserved luxury hotel.
Service: (Only for off-peak experience) From the front desk to the staff at the buffet breakfast, everyone I interacted with was excellent. The breakfast selection was also quite rich.
If you're visiting during the off-peak season, I would recommend this hotel.
Finally, this hotel didn't harass me for a positive review. I just remembered that the Huazhu Hotel incident happened right behind this one, so I decided to write this.

Our group of four went to the Shanxi First Hot Spring Hotel, thinking it would be conveniently located within the Wang Family Courtyard. We ended up loving it! The hotel environment was superb! 👍🏻 Getting up early to climb the city wall and see the swirling mist was like stepping into a fairyland. The air was fresh, the hot spring water smooth, and the night view even more beautiful! Dinner was delicious, and breakfast was plentiful! Everyone is planning to come back! The manager, Xiao Wang, and my husband hit it off immediately, and he even gave us souvenir coins!

I've been to Xinzhou Ancient City a few times, and I genuinely feel that Futian Yuhua Hotel is the absolute best hotel here. The rooms are spotless, they deliver fresh fruit daily, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The private hot spring bath experience was fantastic, and there was a constant supply of complimentary drinks every day. From the moment you step through the main entrance, you notice the incredible attention to detail – it's clear the owner has excellent taste. From the moment I called about parking, a butler was already waiting at the entrance. The service was warm and thoughtful. When leaving, they even reminded me to take a complimentary bottle of water and offered tissues, showing how much they genuinely care for their guests. On the day of check-in, I couldn't figure out the stopper for the hot spring pool, but after a quick call, someone came to help within less than a minute. I'll definitely be bringing my family back to stay here again in the future and will highly recommend it to my friends.

The hotel facilities were good and breakfast was decent, but the check-in experience was terrible. When I turned on the faucet after checking in that night, the water was yellow and cloudy the entire time. I followed the front desk's advice to let the water run for nearly an hour, but there was no improvement. After contacting them again, housekeeping came to check and suggested a room change. I asked to see the water quality in another room first, and was told it was 'a bit better'. It was already 11 PM and I didn't want the hassle, so I agreed to deal with it the next day. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of follow-up from the hotel, no apology, and no compensation or reassurance. They basically left the problem for the guest to just put up with. The next day, no one bothered to ask about it, as if nothing had happened. The service attitude was incredibly perfunctory and completely lacked any sense of customer service.

The hotel is equipped with five stars. The hotel staff service is particularly good, super warm, really at home, like a spring breeze. The hotel has complete supporting facilities and a swimming pool. The room was very clean and tidy, responsive, and I had to take a bath and asked for a disposable bath cover, which was provided soon. The breakfast is particularly rich, there are dozens of breakfasts, less oil, clean, authentic taste, and the chef's utilitarianism is very deep. The hotel has a free shuttle bus, and you can also take the shuttle bus in the scenic spot for free. The hotel is located at the entrance of Xiangfu Manor on the mountain, surrounded by mountains and rivers, birds and flowers, beautiful water, especially loose and leisure, called the Hilton in Huangcheng Village, more than anything else. The parking lot is large and parking is very good. A worthwhile trip, highly recommended.

Kempinski Hotel Taiyuan Stay Experience: Luxury Service Where Details Make All the Difference (January 2, 2026)
Our trip concluding the 2026 New Year's holiday brought us to the Kempinski Hotel, located in the heart of Taiyuan. What started as a regular accommodation choice turned into a highlight of our journey, thanks to the attentive service and unexpected experiences we received throughout our stay.
A day before our arrival, I received a surprising call from the hotel's duty manager. He not only meticulously confirmed basic information like our arrival time and the number of guests but also proactively asked about any special requests or personal preferences, such as a preferred floor, room orientation, or whether we needed a baby crib or extra bedding. When I mentioned my preference for a room with an open view, the manager readily responded that he would do his best to arrange it. This thoughtful, proactive service made me feel warm and welcomed even before checking in.
Upon arriving at the hotel, the front desk quickly processed our check-in and informed me that I had been complimentary upgraded to a 50-square-meter Premium Deluxe View Room. This surprise was especially thoughtful. The moment I opened the door, my first impression was ”immaculately clean and bright”—the floor was spotless, the bedding was pristine and wrinkle-free, and the bathroom's sink, bathtub, and shower area were all dry and clean, with no standing water or unpleasant odors in the corners. Even the curtain tracks and table crevices were dust-free, perfectly meeting the hygiene standards of a five-star hotel. The room featured an elegant European-style decor, complemented by soft, warm lighting, creating a very cozy atmosphere. The oversized floor-to-ceiling window offered a panoramic view of Taiyuan's bustling city center, with towering buildings and busy streets spread out before us. Sunlight filled the room during the day, and at night, the neon lights twinkled, providing an absolutely superb visual experience. The room was fully equipped with amenities, including a mini-bar, smart TV, and branded toiletries. The soft, comfortable king-size bed also helped alleviate travel fatigue, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep.
The breakfast experience the next morning was equally impressive. Elements Western Restaurant, located on the second floor, opened promptly at 6:30 AM. The dining environment was spacious and bright, and the tableware was neatly arranged. The breakfast selection was rich and diverse, catering to both Western and Chinese tastes. We found classic Western options like coffee, bread, bacon, and fried eggs, as well as local Shanxi specialties such as 'lao doufu' (aged tofu), 'yangza' (lamb offal soup), and handmade noodles. There were also Chinese delights like hot congee, steamed buns, and cold appetizers. The variety of fruits, desserts, and yogurt was also extensive. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious, satisfying different taste preferences. The staff were warm and attentive, proactively guiding us to our seats and promptly replenishing tableware and food, making for a comfortable and pleasant dining experience.
Throughout this stay, from the thoughtful pre-arrival communication and the pleasant surprise of a room upgrade to the clean and spacious living environment and the rich and diverse breakfast options, Kempinski Hotel Taiyuan demonstrated its ”home away from home” service philosophy through every detail. Whether for business or leisure travel, this is an excellent choice for accommodation in Taiyuan, and I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.

Hygiene: Excellent. All towels, bath towels, and bathrobes come in sealed bags, which made me feel very secure using them.
Facilities: Excellent. Although it's an older hotel, the showerheads show their age but are very well-maintained and work perfectly.
Environment: The location is great. The room card gives access to a small gate leading to Yingze Lake Park. It's a nice two to three-kilometer loop for a leisurely stroll.
Service: Excellent. They offered complimentary welcome fruits, and you just scan a QR code to request more amenities. There's also a delivery robot that brings food right to your door, all very convenient.
Suggestion: I hope they can switch from instant Nestlé coffee to pour-over coffee bags. Instant coffee feels too low-end and doesn't match the hotel's overall quality.

The moment I moved into ”Xunsu”, I fell in love with it! I was gently awakened by the waves in the morning. The simple design is full of ingenuity - the smart home silently integrates into the natural atmosphere. I love the soft linen couch by the bay window, where I can read a book or be in a daze for a while, and time is so slow that I can hear my heartbeat. The bedding is as skin-friendly as clouds, and even my picky partner rarely praises ”the deep sleep”. The local seasonal fruit plate prepared by the housekeeper is warmer than expected. If there is a regret, it is probably that I couldn't stay a few more days to fully collect this poetic feeling.

AAnonymous UserCtrip's target is five diamonds, except for the lobby and services, none of the other links meet this standard. Room facilities are old. But at this price, don't expect too good hardware. The breakfast was good, which is to be commended. There is no business district nearby, so it is not very convenient to eat.
Service: The service is rated five points, very thoughtful and enthusiastic.
Facilities: old.
Will not live again in the future.
GGuest UserYou truly appreciate the difference when you have something to compare it to. I first stayed at Datong Hotel thirty years ago, so naturally, it was my top choice for this visit to Datong.
Let's start with the 'positives'. For my first night, I chose the VIP building, thinking that with the country's rapid development, hotel accommodations must have advanced significantly. The promotional materials also touted its spacious and new rooms. However, upon checking in, I felt it wasn't worth the price. The front desk clearly had better rooms available but was unwilling to offer them without an additional charge for these 'so-called' superior rooms. It makes me wonder if the front desk staff has ever stayed in a four-star hotel or above. The VIP building's only real 'plus' was its larger space; otherwise, nothing felt particularly impressive. In the VIP building, the bathroom fixtures were broken, the walls didn't appear thoroughly scrubbed, and the carpet was dirty.
This judgment was drawn from a direct comparison. Dissatisfied with the VIP building, I decisively checked out and opted for the old building, where I had stayed three decades ago. I was touched by the elderly gentleman at the front desk even before seeing the room. Upon checking in, I discovered that apart from the room size being smaller than in the VIP building, everything else was equally good, if not better. The elderly gentleman at check-in introduced the amenities along the way – his service was truly commendable, and I plan to get his name for a special mention in a future review. The old building's walls were freshly painted, and the carpet was notably cleaner than in the VIP building. The toiletries also felt superior to those in the VIP building. The headboard cushions were clean and tidy, and the curtains were elegantly neat and clean.
Suggestions for the old building: The TV is quite old; replacing it shouldn't be too expensive. Attention to detail is crucial: the faucet handles, though old, have a noble appearance. The only imperfection is the missing small cap on the handle – a small blemish on an otherwise noble piece. The bathtub drain was malfunctioning. The shower curtain could be raised slightly higher. Since there are paintings, their frames should be clean and clear. The small cap on the toilet seat was also missing. Most importantly, the bathroom floor was quite slippery; measures should be taken to prevent guests from falling. Additionally, the old building's self-promotion is lacking. Enlarged photos of renowned figures who once stayed here should be displayed prominently. No other hotel in Datong boasts such an honor, and that's precisely your unique selling point.

GGuest UserDatong Huangjing Shijia Hot Spring Hotel won me over with its unique hot spring resources and excellent service. During my stay, I experienced the hotel's comfortable environment and professional service. The hot springs are rich in various minerals, and the rooms are spacious and bright, well-equipped, and the beds are comfortable, making me feel right at home. Furthermore, the hotel staff are friendly, responsive, and provide thoughtful assistance.

NNuobeierxingyunjianghouxuanrenThe rooms and public areas have a distinct Buddhist theme, and the design of the public spaces is particularly impressive. The all-day dining restaurant isn't expensive, and the room rates are comparable to a Quanji Hotel inside the scenic area, making it excellent value for money.
What truly stands out is the exceptional service. They offer free guided tours, and at breakfast, staff proactively asked if we wanted to pack food to take up the mountain.

ZZhongxiabingbaoheI was a little disappointed when I first went there, but fortunately the problem was solved promptly and sincerely. However, I have to complain about the service. The waiter was a little inconsiderate. I saw me with a baby and luggage and no one helped. The shower room could not be used after the room was changed. The big shower head was broken and the small shower head was not easy to use. I booked the hotel for the breakfast. The highlight of this hotel is that the breakfast has many varieties and is very delicious.

CCaihuaxiaomeiLet me talk about the pros. The breakfast was quite plentiful and tasty, 68 yuan per person. Our child, being 15, paid an extra 40 yuan. We booked three rooms together. The rooms were decent for a five-star hotel, and the lobby was beautiful. Now for areas for improvement. Aside from the good security guard at the entrance, the service could be better. Since it's a hot spring hotel, the hot spring itself is important, but it was rather mediocre. Of the 12 pools, some were 58 degrees Celsius, some 48 degrees, and only a few were usable and small. Also, because so many people were crammed into a few pools, they became quite dirty. All three families stayed for an hour before leaving. There were too many access control points. For a hotel in such a remote area, I don't understand why there were so many access control points and card swiping systems; it was very inconvenient. I didn't intend to give a low score because the front desk gave us a complimentary breakfast, which was a concession.
