JJohnUKCommunication with the owner was excellent via WeChat and all my questions were answered very quickly. I was kindly given a room upgrade and it was lovely and big and comfortable. It was very bright with an excellent view and you can see clearly see the Great Wall lights at night. There is a convenience store downstairs for anything you need. The entrance to Gubei Water town is only a few minutes walk so it is very convenient. The shower, Wi-Fi and air con all worked great. The bed is a little hard but normal for Asia and I am happy with it. I was very satisfied with a my 2 night stay.

GGuest UserI came here with my friends and kids on the weekend. It was a very good stay. The apartment is very close to the scenic spot, just a few minutes' walk. If you drive, please contact us in advance. There is a parking space downstairs. The apartment belongs to Longhu Villa. The environment is very good. I booked two king-size rooms. The room is very large with a balcony. The balcony can see the night view of the Great Wall of Water and the drone show. It is super beautiful. You can take a walk in the community at night. There are restaurants and supermarkets outside the community. It is very convenient

MM46845****Wow! My stay came with a ton of free perks: free fruit picking and extra shopping – what a steal!
I originally came for the natural environment of Huazhu, but I was surprised to receive a ”hidden perk” as soon as I entered: the staff smiled and said that there was fresh lettuce and romaine lettuce to pick as much as I wanted in the garden! ”They were all grown by our colleagues, they're super fresh, why don't you take some to try?” Really? I was a little skeptical, but I took my child to the vegetable patch – wow! The emerald green lettuce leaves still had morning dew on them, the romaine lettuce was so tender you could squeeze water out of it, and the cucumbers, topped with tiny yellow flowers, smelled sweet as soon as you broke them open. The two kids had a blast, and ended up filling the whole bag.
I thought ”free” meant they had to buy it, but it really was free!!! Haha 😊 What a steal!
Back home, the cucumber salad was crisp and refreshing, and the lettuce with dipping sauce was delicious. The whole family fought over it, even the usually picky eater ate half a head of lettuce—this ”stay + freebie” was definitely a steal!

HHannah Lauren Bond- The location is excellent. It is just round the corner from Gubei Water Town. A two minute walk to the entrance hall.
- The service was good. The staff added us on WeChat and were very quick to respond to messages and queries. One stand out moment for us was when our food was 2 hours late from a local restaurant. I was struggling to communicate with the restaurant because my Chinese is not very good. Staff reached out on our behalf and sorted the issue for us.
- Cleanliness was OK. The sheets on the bed felt lovely and clean, but the apartment was not spotless. The shower had some black mould, and the floor in the kitchen felt sticky.
- The apartment itself had some pros. My son absolutely loved all the toys and the slides. It made his experience very enjoyable.
- Plenty of towels, toiletries provided.
However
- The shower leaked constantly. Every time we used the shower the bathroom would become flooded - which was a slipping hazard for my son.
- The curtains are very thin. Every morning we were woken up to a bright light streaming through the windows. This meant that my son’s sleep was not great. We did contact the staff about this. They used sellotape to stick up some bedsheets on the windows, but this fell down within minutes! We appreciate the efforts though.
- We would have felt better if there was a stair gate. As this is an apartment aimed at families, a stair gate would be good for safety.
- Limited cutlery is provided. We were given some disposable chopsticks. However very few cooking utensils / no children’s cutlery. Bring your own if you want to cook. :)
- There was only once choice of breakfast - which was not to our personal taste. Would be good if 2 or three options were provided. There is a lovely bakery around the corner and we enjoyed buying our breakfast from there for the remainder of the trip.

FFengfupiaofangAfter a 3-hour train journey, we finally arrived at Gubei Water Town. This villa, located just outside the scenic area, was much better than we expected. It offered exceptional value for money, with high-quality rooms at a very affordable price. The outdoor environment was equally stunning. From the balcony during the day, we enjoyed views of blue skies and white clouds, and at breakfast, we could watch the sunrise through the balcony window. Inside, the decor was very elegant. Every detail, from the wall hangings, curtains, and table lamps, to the small cabinet leading to the balcony and even the table runners, contributed to a cozy yet artistic ambiance. They also paid attention to family-friendly details, providing a tent, a small slide with steps in the outdoor yard, and round tables and chairs both in the yard and on the balcony. Ordering takeout was also very convenient. In the evening, we enjoyed the night view from across the way; the highest, continuous stream of lights must have been the Simatai Great Wall. The nights were incredibly quiet. I even extended my stay by another night, and honestly, if I didn't have to head back for the weekend, I would have gladly stayed for several more days.

XXiaotaiyangxiaIt is very convenient to travel by car with the elderly, children and dogs. It is located halfway up the mountain next to Gubei Water Town. The housekeeper registered the car in advance, so the car can be parked directly downstairs. The room is large and comfortable, and the children are also very happy.

GGuest UserI spent 3 weekdays at MingTang LinShui Inn, right next to Gubei Water Town, and had a great stay. The host doesn’t speak English but was very kind, helpful, and welcoming throughout my visit.
The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Gubei Water Town is within walking distance—while there's an entrance fee to explore the old quarter, the surrounding area is also peaceful and scenic, perfect for a relaxing stroll.
Just a note: weekends can get crowded, and there may be some noise from nearby night events. But on weekdays, it's quiet, calm, and truly a lovely escape. Highly recommend for a peaceful weekday getaway!

EEryufengThe room was very well furnished and fully equipped, and overall I was satisfied. However, the walk from Parking Lot 1 to the room was at least 1.3 kilometers, and there was no shuttle. This was quite disappointing for us, exhausted from climbing the Great Wall. The shuttle service cost 30 yuan per trip, but on the last day, they called to inform us that they couldn't help with our luggage, which was a real problem for families traveling with large luggage.
